His eyes chilled and narrowed slightly, that sharp gaze locking onto the man beside Aurelia Shaw.

Andrew Kennedy.

He remembered this man; during the previous shoot he was always hovering around Aurelia.

And he actually chased her all the way here.

Mason Nightshade got out of the car, his tall, lean figure leaning lazily against it. He strode toward the two of them, took Aurelia’s hand, then shot Andrew a faintly mocking, indifferent smile. “And this is…?”

His eyes were blank, as if he’d never seen this person before.

Andrew froze, his gaze sweeping over their tightly clasped hands, subtle and unreadable.

Aurelia paused, vaguely sensing Mason’s foul mood. She glanced at Andrew and instantly understood.

This wild wolf is randomly getting jealous again!

“Andrew Kennedy, I worked with him on a drama before.”

Hearing Aurelia’s explanation, Mason’s expression grew even darker.

You need to explain for him now? And you say it so cozy too!

Aurelia felt extremely wronged.

How is that cozy at all?!

Mason hooked out a cold, disdainful sneer; even the look he gave Andrew was filled with chilly contempt. His aura was aristocratic to begin with—now that his eyes had gone cold, it was like the other man wasn’t even qualified to enter his line of sight.

“I thought you were some guy selling insurance…” Mason opened his mouth and the venom came right out.

Andrew was wearing a shirt and slacks today, no makeup, deliberately dressed down, looking very much like an insurance salesman. But with that face—handsome and striking—no one would ever think he was ordinary.

Mason’s mouth had always been vicious, aiming straight for the heart.

Andrew smiled without a change in expression and calmly countered, “Didn’t expect you and Aurelia to still get along so well after the divorce. I should learn from you two.”

“You married?” Mason asked casually.

Andrew choked at once, his face turning a little green.

No matter how he answered, it would sound wrong. Not married? If you’re not married what the hell are you learning from them—classic intentional provocation. Married? A young actor secretly married getting exposed would be huge news; if he really was married, would he dare admit it?

Mason always had that one line that could choke someone to death—pure poisonous tongue skills.

He gave a dismissive snort, his gaze drifting lazily off Andrew and landing on Aurelia. In an instant, the ice in his eyes melted into warmth. It also made it clear that he’d never really taken Andrew seriously at all.

“Let’s go.” Mason took Aurelia’s hand and got in the car.

Andrew’s face was ugly, his gaze dark as he stared at the car driving away.

Susan Easton came out from inside. Seeing Andrew’s gloomy expression—and having heard their conversation just now—she knew Mason had, whether intentionally or not, poked right into a thorn in Andrew’s heart.

This Mason Nightshade was truly unfathomable.

…

“What’s he doing here?” In the car, Mason’s hand rested on the steering wheel. He glanced at Aurelia from the corner of his eye and asked, sounding casual.

“Seems like it’s work. Probably wants to move his career to M Nation.” Aurelia said.

Mason’s lips curved in a faint smile, an inscrutable expression on his face.

Aurelia leaned her head against the window, her eyes drooping lazily. After a full day of filming, she was exhausted and just wanted to sleep.

…

Aurelia returned to the Parker estate. No one was home. As she passed the study on the second floor, an angry voice came from inside.

“What I do is none of your business!”

It was her brother’s voice.

Aurelia pressed herself against the door, wanting to hear more, but the room went quiet. She didn’t know if the people inside had realized she was there or what.

Her brother’s attitude had been strange ever since she came back, like he cared a lot about her whereabouts. As long as she came home too late, he’d call her.

What on earth had happened?

Aurelia faintly felt that her guess was probably right. Judging from her brother’s attitude, this matter seemed very tricky; she should start preparing early.

She had never liked being in a passive position.
