Chapter 635 - All Wasn't Lost
The Prince had been staring at the child before him once he had completed revealing everything that he had experienced on that day.
She was both his savior and also the one whose very thought infuriated him.
The scowling face of the girl that he had seen on that day was so vivid in his mind that he even had nightmares about her some nights.
Therefore, how could he forget about her?
Even on that day, though he had questioned that commoner girl about the black-haired girl, he got no answer.
He had even given up on his search but during his father's birthday celebration, he had finally stumbled on the truth.
His Uncle had corroborated the discovery he had made on that day, proving that the daughter of Earl St. Claire was indeed the girl who had saved him in the past.
Not to mention that his uncle had advised him to drop the grudge he had been holding but he had not paid heed to it.
'And here I am, paying the price for that.' He groaned at what he had caused.
Yvonne was unaware of the thoughts in his head but her mind was surely in a mess.
Her thoughts revolved around the plot that the script followed and how the Prince fell blindly in love with the girl who had saved him from drowning in the stream.
'Was my effort at staying away from the plot all for naught!?' She grimaced at this notion.
Earlier she had been trying to escape her fate of the side villainess but getting any closer to the Prince would lead her down a road she did not wish to tread at any cost.
Therefore, her terrified eyes were fixed on the Prince who had now noticed the abnormality in her expressions.
While wondering what was wrong with her, Prince Fritzen decided to take a step in her direction.
The distance that Yvonne had created earlier was being shortened which woke the girl up from her daze.
'Why do I have to be right all the time!?' She cursed her brain which always seemed to judge the situation right.
Seeing how the Prince was getting close to her, Yvonne's mind associated it with her earlier assumption being on the mark.
If in the script, Prince Fritzen had fallen in love with Hilda because he thought that she had saved his life, then now, he knew that it was Yvonne who had truly saved his life.
Wouldn't the feelings that he had in the script be now focused on Yvonne instead?
'I would rather vanish from the face of the Earth!' She glowered in her mind, unwilling to accept such an absurd idea for her future.
All she wanted was a carefree life away from the treacherous politics that surrounded the Royal family and those close to it.
She also wished to stay away from the main characters and the mess they caused for those around them.
'And earn a lot of money while doing so.' She did not forget the main goal she had in her life which was to become a successful businesswoman in this world just as she was in her last.
After putting in much effort, she had finally established her foothold in Rosenhyde's business sector with her company, CLOVER.
There was still a long way to go before she could call herself successful.
To achieve this goal, she needed the world to not turn into total chaos.
The script which gave her knowledge of the progress of this world would be a mess if things went awry.
As much as she did not care who the Prince ended up with, she would be more than happy if it was anyone else but her.
She had her goals set straight from the moment she had entered this world and being next to the Prince was not one of them.
Therefore, she needed to set things right because she had now realized that she had caused this diversion in the original storyline due to her existence.
Her unusual behavior when she rescued the Prince had left a lasting mark on him which initiated the entire change.
Therefore, she had to take responsibility for her actions.
Though she wasn't going to actively try to get the male and female lead together, she would at least push him in that direction.
Thus, when the Prince stepped close to her, she took another step away which kept the distance between them constant.
Noticing her actions, Prince Fritzen, who had been curious about the strange look on her face, halted in his steps.
"Do you remember the girl you met at the gardener's house?" Yvonne inquired before he could speak his mind.
Just now, the Prince has seen turmoil and even a trace of disgust flashing across this child's eyes which had led him to move closer in order to investigate it further.
However, hearing this inquiry, he was successfully distracted and thought about it for a second before nodding.
"She was much better than you." He scowled at the girl who called him a pig.
The comparison between the two was vast in his mind.
One was rude and dared to insult him while the other had been courteous and even took care of him for the few minutes that he had been there.
"The moment I saw her polite smile, I knew that she was not the one who saved me." He sneered once again while revealing what had gone through his mind back then.
At this confession, Yvonne grimaced as her bad impression was too great in his mind.
In the script, he had asked Hilda if she was his savior and that little girl had agreed with a bashful smile on her face.
However, due to Yvonne's unique behavior, he had rejected the very idea of the gardener's daughter being the girl who had saved him.
Yvonne felt her head hurt and she rubbed her forehead to ease that pain.
'So did he or did he not fall in love with her at first sight?' She tried to decipher the great mystery on which hung the weight of this world.
She did not care about the bad impression he had about her but was more concerned about what he felt upon interacting with Hilda, his female lead.
"What are your thoughts about that girl?" She questioned to gain some more information about his inner feelings.
She gazed at him, hoping that even if he had not called Hilda his savior, he would have a favorable opinion about her.
After all, she was the female lead of this world, the chosen daughter of Asmodeus who created this entire world only to display his brilliance.
Rolling her eyes at the bird god with whom she had too many scores to settle, Yvonne chose to pay attention to what the Prince might have to say.
After listening to the question put before him, Prince Fritzen recalled his brief interaction with the gardener's daughter.
A gentle smile appeared on his face which was contrary to the scowl he had ever since they had started this conversation.
"Polite, kind, and cheerful." He gave out his description of that girl's personality through his observation in the past.
From rubbing her forehead, Yvonne's hand had now moved down to rub her chin in contemplation.
'So he does have a favorable opinion about his soulmate.' She surmised after hearing his generous words of praise.
This made her feel that all wasn't lost.
There was still a chance that the Prince could fall in love with the mate that Asmodeus had created for him later on.
After all, the main story had not yet begun and they still had a lot of time until then.
At the Princess's coming-of-age ceremony, the main story would begin after the Prince reunites with the girl who saved him.
Though now she might just be another girl who had a favorable opinion in his mind, all of that could change in the future.
'Even if he did not think of her as his savior, he could still fall for her when he meets her at the coming-of-age ceremony.' She believed that Asmodeus would work his magic as always.
When she first arrived in this world, even when she did not wish to meet the Prince, she had somehow ended up not only meeting him but also saving him.
Therefore, she was now confident that while she could change a few things about her own destiny, nothing would change the main events that needed to occur for the script to progress.
She was sure about this because even when she had tried to stay far away from the Royal family, wasn't she standing right inside the Palace?
She had met almost every member of the Royal family in just a single day.
For years she had managed to stay away from them but in one fell swoop, she had been introduced to all of them with nothing that she could have done to avoid it.
In the same way, she was sure that the Blue Bird would not sit still while the world he created descended into chaos because the Prince had not recognized Hilda as his savior.
While Yvonne was gnashing her teeth at the confidence she had in that nasty god, the Prince had something more to say.
"If Uncle hadn't arrived at that time then I would have stayed around and spoken to her more." He added and was startled by the loud sounds of incessant coughing which emanated from the child who seemed alright just a moment ago.
