Chapter 475 - Saying Goodbye
Under Yvonne's persuasive tactics and her sulking face, Rutherford had no other choice but to give up on trying to change her mind.
'She does need someone to help her with her workload which will soon increase.' He sulked and nodded his head in bitter defeat.
However, while his daughter was rejoicing, the rest were unhappy with this result.
After Rutherford, the next person who disliked this outcome the most was Howard St. Claire as he continued to glower and glare at the new boy whom he perceived as a threat to his relationship with his sister.
Raylene shook her head at the two men who were being overprotective but at the same time, she decided to keep a close watch over this one person who might be joining her staff soon.
Since Rutherford had given in to her demands, the Valente family did not have a say in this matter any longer.
Thus, Yvonne smiled radiantly at the young boy who would soon start serving her once he completed his training.
"Butler, prepare a set of clothing for him and arrange for his lodging until tomorrow." The old man instructed his Butler who bowed before leading the young boy away.
The little girl watched as Jax walked away before turning her eyes towards the rest of her family.
"Vonna, I agreed to your demands but whether he can work in our estate will depend on his capabilities." The Earl was stern with his tone, indicating that he would not keep Jax around if he was not fit for the work.
He had already been lenient in agreeing to her demands but he would not concede if the boy could not match their criteria.
The St. Claires could afford to hire better servants if he was unable to keep up and this was what the father was trying to hint to his child.
Being a smart one, Yvonne grasped his underlying warning and nodded her head in understanding.
"If Jax cannot keep up then, of course, he needs to step down from his position." She agreed with his train of thought which made him feel much better.
'I only have to make Butler Limo train him harder then.' The scary Earl decided to put Jax through such rigorous training that he would run away after the very first week.
'We won't have to do a thing.' He sneered as this was the best plan to achieve his goal of chasing the boy away without garnering suspicion from his daughter.
Both Yvonne and Jax were unaware of the Earl's wicked plans but someone else had noticed the sly glint that had passed through his midnight blue eyes.
'I might not be the only person responsible for her cunning mind.' Marcus remarked that even Rutherford was to be blamed for the way the little girl had turned out.
Rutherford's sharp mind and Marcus's manipulative and sneaky ways seemed to have been inherited by the little girl.
This thought made him breathe a sigh of relief as he was not the only one who was at fault for her sly methods of dealing with others.
With the arrival of Jax into the estate, news of his position as the soon-to-be Butler of the Young Miss was spread among the St. Claire servants soon enough.
They were living in the same quarters arranged by the Butler of this mansion so it was easy to verify the validity of this news.
Roselie had been the youngest maid among those who had arrived here with their Masters but now there was someone younger than her.
Not only was he younger than her, but he was also going to be serving the Young Miss which was surprising to her and Mrs. Jacinth.
Later that night when they were helping the Young Miss bathe and change into her nightclothes, Roselie had expressed her worries about the new person.
"His job will mostly be related to things outside the Mansion. You do not have to worry about anything changing." The little girl consoled her troubled maids that they would still be serving her while inside the Mansion.
'I cannot ask a boy to do any of these things now, can I?' She rolled her eyes at her maids who were helping her get dressed for bed.
However, it had not yet been ascertained whether Jax could fulfill the duties that she might hand over to him so nothing had yet been finalized.
'It depends on him from here on out.' She remarked that his capabilities would pave his path for the future.
With many thoughts swirled around in her mind, Yvonne slept late on the last night that she would be spending in the Valente fief.
__
'Ugh, my head hurts!' The little girl groaned while resting her head on her father's shoulder.
Due to the numerous thoughts in her mind, she had insomnia the entire night and only fell asleep a few hours before dawn break.
Since they would have to travel to the St. Claire fief early in the morning, Yvonne was disturbed soon after she had managed to fall asleep.
The servants were all prepared to leave and the extra addition to their group, Jax was also seen among them.
The same carriages which had brought them to the Valente fief were ready to take them away as well.
Demon was already harnessed to the carriage which Yvonne and her family would be using while the servants loaded their luggage on the others.
The Butler had done a good job in preparing a small suitcase for Jax and filled it up with necessities.
For this, Trisha had brought out some home clothes which she had prepared for the twins that had yet to be used.
Raylene thanked her and decided to get their Butler at the St. Claire fief to prepare the rest for him.
Finally, it was time for the St. Claire family to bid goodbye to their relatives and head on North to their fief.
"I will write letters informing you about the progress." Marcus promised to keep his niece in the loop at all times.
Grandpa hugged his daughter and grandchildren before nodding at his son-in-law.
"You should keep in touch and even visit." He sulked, making them chuckle at his cute behavior before they accepted his demands.
Raylene hugged her sister-in-law before smiling at her brother and nephews.
Rutherford nodded with his usual aloof nature which the rest did not mind as they had a better understanding of his attitude by now.
The twins did not wish for Yvonne to leave and hugged her tight which resulted in Howard prying their hands open to separate his sister from them.
"We will visit you soon!" Knox sniffled while Roman patted his back to comfort his brother even when he was feeling the same way.
Their cousins had arrived out of nowhere and now they were leaving already.
This made them feel melancholic but this was the way things were supposed to be.
They each had their duties to attend to and they could forget about them just to spend time with the other.
Saying goodbye was inevitable and a natural part of life.
Yvonne then thanked the Butler for taking care of Demon while he stayed here to which the man was nearly in tears at her considerate speech.
Jax had already been seated in the last carriage with the male servants and had watched the entire farewell episode right from his seat.
'Will they treat me just like the others?' His mind was filled with doubts about his future.
Soon everyone was seated in their carriages, the male servants in the one where Jax was already seated.
The maids were together in the other carriage and the Masters in the one ahead of theirs.
As the carriages departed for the Valente Mansion, Old man Valente and the rest waved them goodbye until they were no longer to be seen.
Inside one of the carriages, the sleepy little girl who was laying in her mother's embrace due to her insomniac state was being lulled to sleep once they began moving at a steady pace.
'Goodbye, Valente fief.' She muttered before her eyes shut and she fell into a deep slumber.
Their journey to this place had brought many changes in her life and also created new memories with new people which she would cherish with all her heart.
