This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man
Chapter 214: Rich Lady
Zhu Mansion. Zhu Keseng walked in with pastries, seeing Chun E drawing her eyebrows there, a look of disdain flickered in his eyes.
Although Chun E’s appearance now looked much better than before, an older woman is entirely different from a young girl. No matter how well she maintains herself, she can’t have that youthful body. Therefore, he hadn’t touched her for years.
Originally, seeing her business doing well, he thought having such a money tree at home wouldn’t hurt, so he let her retain the position of the main wife and married his beloved Ya’er as a second wife. But this woman was so unsatisfied and secretly investigated him, uncovering everything he did over the years.
Zhu Keseng placed his hand on Chun E’s shoulder and said gently, "Madam, I bought you your favorite pastries, come and try them."
"Forget the pastries! How’s the matter we discussed before? If it’s settled, let’s go change the property owner!"
"There’s some trouble over there. I’ve been appeasing them for days, but they’re unwilling to change the property owner with us. But don’t worry, I assure you I’ll get it done in a few days. You and I are husband and wife, the property should be under your name for safety. Initially, I had no choice; I offended an enemy and feared they’d come after us, so I sought refuge with that woman."
As Zhu Keseng spoke, he opened the pastries, pinched a piece and offered it to Chun E’s mouth.
"The pastries are dry, aren’t you giving me water?" Chun E said, taking the pastry from his hand.
Zhu Keseng frowned, filled with disgust.
He went to the table, poured a glass of water, and when he turned back, he saw Chun E chewing the pastry with puffed cheeks, eating frantically as if she had never eaten pastries before.
His gaze was filled with more disdain.
Ya’er always ate elegantly, unlike her who was so uncouth.
He’s crazy to abandon a beauty like Ya’er and spend his life with such a vulgar old woman.
"Madam, drink some water."
"I only give you three days; if within three days, the property isn’t changed to my name, I’ll expose your deeds."
"Don’t worry; it’ll definitely be changed to yours," Zhu Keseng said, again pinching a piece of pastry to feed Chun E.
Chun E slapped away the pastry, looking impatient, "Don’t think that a bit of flattery will soften my heart."
After speaking, Chun E held her head and said confusedly, "What’s happening? Why do I feel dizzy?"
Zhu Keseng’s mouth curled up, saying, "Feeling dizzy is right."
"What did you do to me?" Chun E weakly glared at him, shaking her head. "You... you want to kill me to silence me? I am your wife."
"Since you know you’re my wife, dare you threaten me? Who gave you the guts?" Zhu Keseng showed his ferocious true colors.
He pressed down on Chun E’s head, lowered his voice, and said, "Rest assured, once you’re gone, your Clothing Shop will be managed by Ya’er. Ya’er will use your jewelry, wear clothes from your store, and manage several properties and shops with me. Our children will inherit all our assets."
"Really?" Several people walked out from behind the screen. "Unfortunately, you may not have that chance."
Chun E, who should have been unconscious, also sat upright, the confusion in her eyes disappeared, and she regained her clear vision.
Zhu Keseng was startled by the sudden intrusion, sharply looked at them, "Who are you? This is my home; how dare you barge in."
"We are friends invited by Sister Chun’e. We happened by as guests and saw someone attempting murder; if we go to the government to testify, would they believe us?"
Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu were accompanied by over a dozen skilled individuals, whose fierce gazes were evident.
Zhu Keseng understood; Chun E had become smarter and wasn’t easily deceived. She must have suspected him long ago, just waiting for him to make a move.
Zhu Keseng assessed the situation.
He couldn’t deal with these people, and he had thoroughly enraged Chun E earlier; if he didn’t satisfy her now, his secrets would be exposed in broad daylight. If captured by the government, best case he’s exiled, worst case he’s executed.
He had no choice but to give in.
"Fine, I’ll transfer the assets to your name." Zhu Keseng said.
"Transfer them now."
"Some assets are out of province, even if transferred immediately, it won’t be that quick."
"That’s fine, my friends are willing to accompany me on this journey. Let’s go now, lest anyone wants to kill again to silence me." Chun E sneered.
Zhu Keseng dared not speak in anger, forced to comply.
The subsequent matters were left to the people of Mingye Hall to accompany Chun E to handle. For safety’s sake, thirty members from Mingye Hall accompanied Chun E out, and seeing such an arrangement, Zhu Keseng’s petty schemes vanished.
Although he was an escort master with many brothers under him, few were willing to risk their lives for him, just those few cronies. Even if he hires a killer, it might be too late.
Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu escorted Chun E out at the city gate.
"Are these people from Mingye Hall trustworthy? They won’t be unable to handle Zhu Keseng, right? Zhu Keseng has murderous intent towards Sister Chun’e; he might hire a killer too."
"Don’t worry, Mingye Hall consists of two parts: one gathers intel, the other handles labor. The labor part splits further into protection and killing."
"How do you know so clearly?" Su Yaoguang tilted her head looking at Zhou Wangshu. "Wang Shu, you really are meticulous, asking in such detail."
Zhou Wangshu hummed: "Isn’t it necessary?"
"Alright, let’s go back and wait for good news from Sister Chun’e! When she returns, she’ll already be quite the wealthy lady here!"
"Not only that, but that disgusting man should also vanish."
"Right."
Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu walked back talking and laughing. As they passed the bookstore, they wanted to see if any new books were in, so they walked in.
Just upon entering, they saw Xiao Yanci talking to the bookstore boss about something.
"Mr. Xiao, your manuscripts are so popular that they sell out! Please write more; I’m willing to pay a high price."
Xiao Yanci coldly nodded, took the silver, and left.
When he turned, he saw Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu walking in together, their gestures intimate, his eyes full of jealousy.
Zhou Wangshu saw Xiao Yanci and also his gaze. He wrapped an arm around Su Yaoguang’s shoulder, intimately ruffling her hair.
Su Yaoguang was browsing the new books on the shelf; puzzled by his action, she quickly understood Zhou Wangshu’s intent as she saw Xiao Yanci glaring opposite.
Sick.
After Xiao Yanci left, Su Yaoguang knocked his arm away: "Childish."
