This Life, I'm Raising the Right Man
Chapter 213: It’s Done
An entire basket of grapes ended up in the stomachs of Su Yaoguang and Zhou Wangshu.
Zhou Wangshu finished calculating the final account and provided a summary of the various situations recorded in the ledger to Su Yaoguang.
This was the account book for three consecutive months, with every entry being very clear.
Besides checking the ledger for any false accounts, they also needed to analyze whether business had improved or worsened over the past few months, whether their regular customers were ordering more or less, whether there had been new customers every month, etc.
"Ugh..." Su Yaoguang clutched her stomach.
Just as Zhou Wangshu finished organizing the account book and was about to wrap up, he panicked when he saw Su Yaoguang looking pale.
"What’s wrong?"
"Nothing." Su Yaoguang held her stomach and forced a smile.
"Your face is whiter than paper, and you say it’s nothing?" Zhou Wangshu said, getting up and holding her. "Come on, let’s go find Jiang Jing to check on you."
"Jing’er is out of town today, she went to the countryside to see a seriously ill patient," Su Yaoguang said. "This is normal, don’t worry."
"Stomach pain is normal?" Zhou Wangshu frowned, full of disbelief.
"Oh..." Su Yaoguang blushed. "It’s really normal, trust me!"
Zhou Wangshu is still a ’child,’ not knowing how hard it is to be a woman. Women have these days every month, which will pass after enduring for a few days.
If another woman saw her in such pain, she probably would have guessed why she was so uncomfortable and wouldn’t make such a fuss like he did.
Zhou Wangshu, seeing her avoiding medical treatment, directly picked her up.
"Put me down, I’m really fine..."
"Stop talking."
"Wang Shu, I’m really fine..." Su Yaoguang whispered a few words in his ear, embarrassed. "It’s just like this; women all have such situations. It’s nothing to make a fuss about. If you take me to the clinic, others will laugh at us."
Zhou Wangshu was half-convinced.
Su Yaoguang glared at him, her cheeks flushed. "Quickly put me down."
"Then rest a bit, don’t run around," Zhou Wangshu put her down.
Su Yaoguang exhaled lightly.
She was now in the workshop’s study, with a simple rest area inside, convenient for her to take a break sometimes.
Su Yaoguang lay down on the bed, and Zhou Wangshu poured her hot water, watching her drink it.
Zhou Wangshu sat by the bedside for a while, and seeing her asleep, he returned to the outer side of the study.
A muffled groan came from inside.
Listening to the sound, Su Yaoguang should be quite in pain now.
Zhou Wangshu strode in, and when he saw her forehead covered in cold sweat, he could not hold back any longer and immediately carried her out the door.
When Su Yaoguang woke up again, she found herself lying in the clinic’s resting room.
With Jiang Jing not around, he had to entrust her to another doctor. Su Yaoguang is well-known, and few in the county do not recognize her. When they saw she was ill, the doctors took it very seriously and then informed Zhou Wangshu about her condition.
Su Yaoguang heard Zhou Wangshu discussing something with a stranger. Initially, she didn’t hear clearly, but when she strained to listen and realized what they were talking about, she wished she could find a hole to crawl into.
She closed her eyes, pretending to be dead.
Zhou Wangshu came in with a bowl of brewed medicine. "Get up and drink the medicine if you’re awake."
"How did you know I was awake?" Su Yaoguang opened her eyes, speaking awkwardly.
"The breathing of a sleeping person and an awake person is different." Zhou Wangshu handed her the medicine. "Drink it quickly. You’ll feel better after taking it."
Su Yaoguang took the bowl and gulped it down.
"I feel much better."
"Doctor Wang gave you an acupuncture for pain relief. Doctor Wang said your pain was due to indulging in the cold. Women need to stay warm during these days and absolutely can’t eat ice. You just ate so many iced grapes."
Su Yaoguang: "..."
Zhou Wangshu noticed her embarrassment and guilt, so he stopped bringing up the topic, quietly staying by her side.
"When can I go back?"
"When your complexion improves, I’ll ask Doctor Wang to take your pulse to ensure you won’t faint from the pain before you leave. If you don’t behave, I’ll tell your mother and aunt everything, and let them know how you’re taking care of your body."
Su Yaoguang behaved obediently.
If her mother found out about this, she’d have calluses in her ears from all the nagging.
Su Yaoguang cooperated with Zhou Wangshu, behaving like a tame cat.
When the two returned to Taoyao Square, they heard that Chun E had been waiting for a long time.
"Yaoguang, it’s done," Chun E pulled her in. "I did threaten him like you said, and he indeed became honest."
"Did he agree to your terms?" Su Yaoguang asked.
"He agreed. He has three properties outside, one hundred acres of land, and eight thousand taels in savings. To keep my mouth shut, he agreed to put those properties, lands, and savings under my name."
"Will that woman agree?"
"I hold evidence of his misdeeds, so if he doesn’t want to see the authorities, he has to do what I say."
"He now only agreed and hasn’t yet done as you said. His quick agreement makes me fear he’s plotting against you."
The smile on Chun E’s face disappeared.
"You mean...?"
"If he had quibbled with you and then agreed later, that would have shown some sincerity. The problem now is that he agreed too quickly, and that’s suspicious. If it were you, would you willingly hand over the assets you’ve worked hard to earn to someone else?"
"I am his legally wedded wife. Why wouldn’t he put these assets in my name when he’s willing to put them in the name of an extramarital lover? I haven’t mentioned divorcing him."
"If he really valued you, he would have put the assets in your name from the start. The fact that he would rather put them in the name of an extramarital lover and not yours speaks volumes. Do you still expect this kind of man to have a conscience?"
"Does he really want to kill me?" Chun E lowered her gaze. "What should I do?"
"I heard Mingye Hall even takes orders for assassinations."
"You mean you want me to..." Chun E was shocked.
"What are you thinking? I mean if they take assassination orders, then they should also take protection orders, right? If you leave the follow-up of this matter entirely to Mingye Hall, it might save a lot of trouble."
"You’re right, I’ll listen to you." Chun E now felt indecisive, but knew that Su Yaoguang’s advice was sensible and certainly better than listening to that scumbag.
Su Yaoguang called for Zhou Wangshu, and he pushed the door open to enter.
"Wang Shu, help us contact Mingye Hall!"
"I just overheard. Don’t worry, leave this matter to me. It’s safer for me to handle dealings with those people instead of women."
"Thank you, Brother Wang Shu," Chun E whispered to Su Yaoguang, "Having a man’s presence does make one feel more confident and at ease."
"Sister Chun’e, I don’t like what you said. I’m much stronger than the average man. Not to boast, but I can definitely handle three of them."
"Yes, you’re one to handle three, and with your Wang Shu, isn’t that even more reassuring?"
