There Must Be Something Wrong With This Game!
Chapter 332: Good Days Are Here
Chapter 332: Chapter 97: Good Days Are Here
By now, the Clockmaker knew he was finished.
He didn’t know what trick Duan Fei had used. He only knew that from the moment the other man found him and stood before him, his defeat had been inevitable.
He chuckled bitterly and looked at Duan Fei. “Duan Someone, where do you think I lost?”
“Oh, I remember now. You’re the Clockmaker, right? You’ve changed so much, I almost didn’t recognize you.”
“Thanks for that,” the Clockmaker said with another bitter smile. “So, where exactly did I lose?”
“Your looks, I guess. I think I’m a little more handsome.”
“Please answer my question seriously.”
“And why should I tell you?”
As the Clockmaker stared in stunned disbelief, Duan Fei made his move.
He pushed the Demon King’s Power to its absolute limit. The buffs from tens of millions of Slimes all converged upon him, allowing him to drive a palm straight through the Clockmaker before him, blasting him into dust.
The poor leader of the Pseudo-men didn’t even get an answer in the end.
Villains die from monologuing, and Duan Fei had absolutely no intention of giving this villain a chance to talk.
With the stubborn Clockmaker eliminated, the Dungeon’s encroachment could no longer be stopped. It spread across the entire world with unstoppable momentum.
Knowing that what came next was a race against time, Duan Fei had just breathed a sigh of relief when he felt a tug from the Outer God beside him.
Turning his head, he saw the Outer God had transformed into a wise old man and was asking him a question. “Where exactly did that guy lose? Was it because he wasn’t despicable and shameless enough?”
“…Are you looking for a beating?”
“Then why was it? It couldn’t really be because you’re more handsome, could it?”
“Is that not reason enough?”
“Not at all!”
Duan Fei scratched his smooth head and had no choice but to say, “Because there were more of us, I guess.”
“That’s it?”
“And we’re not afraid to die.”
“Mm, that’s true.”
Twirling the white beard on his chin, the Outer God said, “Your numbers are too great, you’re not afraid to die, and you can rapidly increase your strength. What’s more terrifying is that you seem very disunited, yet at certain times, you are exceptionally unified. You have some kind of highly efficient internal method to improve your level of organization. You are all truly interesting.”
Recalling the entire process, the Outer God continued, “You have a clear division of labor and you each know your role. If it weren’t for your selfless sacrifices, you never could have reached the twentieth floor in such a short time. This world does have heroes after all—every single one of you Slimes.”
“That flattery feels pretty good. Good thing I’ve got the stream running, so everyone can see this, right?”
“What’s a stream?”
“Never mind that. The Dungeon’s expansion is just the first step. There’s still a lot more to come.”
「One day later.」
The Dungeon’s expansion was finally complete.
Every corner of the world had been absorbed into the Dungeon, and the entire world was designated as the Dungeon’s Floor Zero.
Afterward, the Dungeon began to seal itself off. Every single person, along with their soul and physical body, was integrated into the Dungeon, becoming a part of it and isolated from the rest of the universe.
From this day forward, they would live within the Dungeon for a very long time, until their souls were completely purified through endless cycles of rebirth and the contamination within them was thoroughly cleansed.
The Slimes had already cleared out most areas of the Dungeon. Although the remaining regions were still somewhat dangerous, the Adventurers would fend off these threats, allowing the residents to pass through the initial period peacefully.
The strongholds left on every third floor would also become gathering places for the residents, and the natives of the fifteenth floor would be welcoming a new batch of guests.
The Celestial Wing Knight Order, which had been battling the players, also came to a halt.
The Clockmaker’s death freed them from his control and also made them realize what they had been doing all this time.
After countless revivals and cycles of rebirth, they had transformed into creatures identical to the players.
Slimes.
The genetic material from multiple creatures had taken effect within their bodies. The chaotic gene expression transformed their bodies into sticky, gelatinous masses—they were, for all intents and purposes, brand-new Slimes.
The members of the Knight Order, who had abruptly stopped fighting, hadn’t even had time to react before the players killed them all over again. After reviving, they stared blankly at the Slimes before them.
It wasn’t until Charlie, who was commanding the battle, noticed the strange behavior of his former comrades that he ordered the players to cease fire.
Under the protection of the players, he walked toward one of the Knight Order members, knelt on one knee, and looked at the other, saying, “I am Junior Officer Charlie Sol. May I ask your rank, sir?”
“Commander.”
“It really is you.” Charlie smiled. “Your state is different from the others. Welcome back, Commander.”
The Commander looked around blankly, seeing what his former comrades-in-arms had become. In his heart, he knew that some things could never go back to the way they were.
Not to mention, they were now sinners. Every one of them carried an original sin—the crime of obstructing the Slimes from saving the world. It was a charge they could never escape, a sin they would need to spend their entire lives atoning for.
Hopping in front of Charlie, the Commander said seriously, “No, I am no longer the Commander. You are.”
“But…”
“There are still some people on the twelfth floor. They can become members of the new Knight Order and help you rebuild it. The former commander has died in battle. We are now Slimes, responsible for protecting everyone’s safety.”
Looking at the Commander before him, Charlie knew the other had made up his mind, and it could not be changed.
Facing the Commander in his Slime form, Charlie gave a solemn military salute. He then watched as these Slimes headed into the snow and ice, embarking on a path of atonement.
The Celestial Wing Knight Order was disbanded today.
But a new Celestial Wing Knight Order was about to be born, shouldering a new mission as it continued to move forward.
「The final day of the event.」
After a day of chaos, the Adventurers and players quickly brought stability to the world.
The reason was simple: there was more than enough food.
Before, farmers worked hard every day, but the food they earned was barely enough to feed a family of a few.
But here, with countless Demons in the Dungeon, there was no shortage of food. Even precious cooking oil was in ample supply, allowing everyone to eat their fill every day.
Upon learning that the food supply here was unlimited, these farmers were immediately overcome with gratitude. They declared that they didn’t care who was in charge—they just wanted to be led to chop off that dog of a King’s head.
It couldn’t be helped. In this world, anyone who could feed them was like a second parent to them; they’d even do business that could get them beheaded.
However, they would never have guessed where the King was.
The King, now in the form of a baby, was being held in the Witch’s arms, while the Swordsman was using his newly grown hand to flip through a book, looking up how to care for an infant.
Hans and his sister gathered around the King, watching him nonstop. Then they looked up and asked, “Is this our new little brother?”
“More or less. Duan Someone said that while this guy is a bit stupid, he didn’t really do anything wrong. But in his position, not doing anything wrong is hardly something to be proud of.”
“What do you mean?”
“Nothing. Forget it. Let’s just raise him well. Hopefully, he’ll grow up to be a capable person.”
Looking at the tiny King, the Witch gave a helpless smile.
Beside her, the Swordsman looked up just in time to see the Witch’s smile and was momentarily lost in a daze.
“A family of five…” he couldn’t help but murmur.
“A family of six would be fine, too. We can afford it now.” The Witch flashed a smile that left the Swordsman even more dazed.
A new world had arrived.
And with it, good days had come as well.
