"Who! Who's outside!"

The voice was unbearably hoarse, like two sheets of rusted iron scraping against each other, stabbing painfully into the ears.

But what truly shook Muen was still the eye that had suddenly met his gaze.

What kind of eye was that?

It was filled with madness, violence, and bloodlust, as though all the killing intent and cruelty in the world had been condensed together and violently driven into Muen's consciousness.

Rather than a human eye, it looked more like the eye of some terrifying ancient demonic beast, without the slightest trace of reason within it.

Yet that madness, violence, and bloodlust lasted only for an instant. Muen had not even had time to react before it transformed into an indescribable confusion, making all that savage insanity seem as though it had merely been his imagination.

"Who? Who is it? Do I know you? Hello? Hello? Hello? Hi?"

Although the two of them were separated by only a tiny window and a wall, with a straight-line distance of less than thirty centimeters, those bewildered eyes still reflected no figure whatsoever.

Muen straightened his slightly recoiled head. He had only just boasted about having strong nerves, only to get startled again, but he casually swept aside that tiny bit of embarrassment. Narrowing his eyes, he observed carefully for a moment and immediately understood.

It was not that the eye could not see.

The medium had been severed.

This tiny window seemed to have been deliberately left only so that something could be passed inside or so that communication with the person within was possible. But through it, neither the person inside nor the person outside could see the other.

Even sound could not pass through. The reason Muen could see him and hear his voice was because he had used Black Flame vision to reconnect the medium unilaterally.

"A common method for preventing Pollution from spreading......huh?"

After that journey with Miss Dragon, Muen's understanding of Pollution had improved dramatically. At this point, isolation at the level of a medium was already nothing unusual to him.

Rather, for the Origin Tower, achieving something to this extent was only to be expected.

When dealing with a veteran Truth-Rank Grand Mage suspected of colluding with an Evil God, there was no such thing as being too cautious.

Only......

"Whether that matter is actually true still can't be concluded yet. Otherwise, there would've been no point in that old loli sending me here."

Muen pondered briefly.

Just as he had guessed before, forcing his way through "Divine Sigh" and directly dragging his cheap senior brother out was obviously extremely unrealistic.

So the most important thing now was to obtain as much information from here as possible.

That would determine how he acted afterward.

Muen raised his hand. Black Flame flickered, but after hesitating for a moment, he still chose not to completely establish a two-way connection through the medium. He did not allow the other person to see what he looked like, and merely transmitted his voice across.

"Hello. May I ask if you are Mr. Arman Guderian?"

"Yes! That's right! I'm Arman Guderian! There really is someone here! I knew there was someone outside!"

The person in the cell became extremely excited and pressed his face even closer to the small window. Only then did Muen finally get a clear look at this cheap senior brother of his.

Judging purely by appearance, he was an extremely ordinary old man, with graying beard, graying eyebrows, graying hair, and a nose, eyes, and mouth all growing in the most normal places possible.

The kind of person who would disappear the moment he was thrown into a crowd.

The only somewhat unusual thing was that time seemed not to have left many traces on his face. Whether it was his face, arms, or hands, his skin looked more like that of a middle-aged man. It could not be called smooth, but neither could it be called aged.

That kind of "youthfulness" that did not match his age reminded Muen of His Holiness the Pope, although in this respect His Holiness was clearly even more ridiculous. The old bastard was already several hundred years old, yet his skin was still as tender as a baby's.

Muen hated people who pretended to be young like this the most. Every single one of them was sinister beyond belief.

Still, looking at the bright side when it came to this cheap senior brother of his, after being imprisoned and interrogated by the Origin Tower for so long, at least his life did not seem to be in danger.

"So now the question is what I should ask......"

Muen thought rapidly. He was just about to voice the questions he had prepared long ago, questions that would avoid alerting anyone while extracting as much information as possible......

However......

"You were sent by that person, weren't you?"

Arman suddenly leaned even closer, and with a single sentence, completely disrupted all of Muen's thoughts.

"Hm?"

"Stop pretending. I can smell the aura of an Evil God in your words!" Arman said proudly.

"What?"

Muen was shocked, his peripheral vision sweeping over the Black Flame dancing at his fingertip.

He could smell even that? Hadn't the medium for scent already been severed?

No, wait. What did he mean by smelling it from his words?

Why did Muen feel like he could not understand what this guy was saying?

Could he explain it a little more clearly? His little brain was about to shrivel up again, damn it!

"I've always been extremely sensitive in this regard, so I can't be wrong."

Arman said, "And if you carry the aura of an Evil God, that can only mean one thing......you were sent by that person!"

"That person naturally means that person. I knew it. I knew that person would definitely come save me!"

Arman tightly gripped the bars of the little window. Beneath his messy beard, the corner of his mouth revealed a trace of a blissful smile. "Although that person hasn't paid any attention to me for a very long time, you know how it is. That person has always had a sharp tongue but a soft heart. Since she sent you here, that proves one thing......she has me in her heart! She can't stop worrying about me!"

"Hiss......"

Muen suddenly shuddered.

From Arman's description, an irritating figure with white hair and red eyes appeared in his mind, but for some reason, he felt that something was strange.

Especially when he looked at Arman's expression right now, which could only be described as......happy?

Muen felt extremely uncomfortable.

It was like the durian that smelled unbearably foul to him was, in someone else's mouth, incomparably sweet and fragrant.

Was that woman really that good?

Was he not afraid this was another one of her ultimate, invincible, endless schemes?

"Since you understand, that makes things easier. I came here first because I wanted to......"

"Shh."

Muen was interrupted again.

Arman raised a finger and placed it before his dry, cracked lips, signaling Muen to be silent.

"Don't speak. There's something in this room listening."

"What?"

Muen's pupils contracted.

Listening?

He had not sensed anything at all.

"Don't worry. I've already blocked it......but only for one minute. No, wait, there are only twenty seconds left now. Those people are very strong too. They ambushed me before and injured me. Even if I use everything I have now, this is all I can manage."

Arman lowered his own voice as well and said:

"So there isn't much time. I can only tell you the single most important thing. You must pass it on to that person."

"What is it?" Muen hurriedly asked.

"Tell that person......do not believe."

"Do not believe? Do not believe who?"

"Do not believe......the Tower Master!"

"The Tower Master? You mean Douglas?"

Douglas's figure appeared in Muen's mind. Every interaction he had previously had with the current rotating Tower Master rapidly replayed before him......He could not be trusted?

Was he the mastermind behind everything?

And what happened to this cheap senior brother of his was also......

"Huh? Who?" Yet just as Muen was thinking about how to quickly continue questioning him, Arman suddenly tilted his head. His entire posture began visibly becoming strange.

"Hm? What's wrong with you?"

"Who was I saying not to believe? Huh? Who did I just say?" Arman looked toward Muen in confusion, or rather toward the place where Muen was standing. His murky eyes still reflected no figure at all.

"Huh?"

Hearing this, Muen was dumbfounded.

No, bro......I finally managed to come all the way here to ask you a question. What exactly are you doing?

You're not seriously going to suddenly lose your mind right now, are you?!

I don't mind if you lose your mind, but at least say a couple more sentences before you do!

......Unfortunately.

Clearly, the current Arman had no way of caring about Muen's despair.

He tilted his head and thought.

Thought desperately.

As though he would not stop until he had thought his own brain apart.

Yet no matter how hard he tried, he seemed unable to obtain the answer he wanted.

Or perhaps he had already obtained the answer, only to forget it in the blink of an eye.

Then he suddenly staggered backward several steps, grabbed his already-disheveled hair with both hands, and his eyes gradually turned bloodshot as that madness and violence once again flooded into them.

"Do not believe who? Do not believe who? Do not believe......the Tower Master! Right! Do not believe the Tower Master!"

"Huh? Who did I just say? Do not believe who? Who exactly am I not supposed to believe?"

"Shut up! I know! I don't need you to remind me!"

"Do not believe who? Do not believe who?"

"I'm not insane!"

Arman collapsed to his knees, his face twisted like that of an evil ghost. Some indescribable pain seemed to fill every cell of his body as he began repeatedly smashing his head against the floor.

"Shut up! Shut up! Shut up!"

"Bang! Bang! Bang!"

His head struck the floor, creating fresh pits one after another.

As a pure mage, Arman's body was not particularly strong, and thick blood soon began flowing through those pits.

Yet at the same time, a strange radiance flashed around his body, visibly restoring his injuries at astonishing speed.

Then he slammed his head down again.

Again and again.

Blood flowed everywhere. Muen even saw bits of red and white matter splatter outward.

Amid the sounds of impact and low growls, terrifying mental fluctuations gradually leaked outward, following the floor around the prison's medium isolation and bringing enormous mental torment to the prisoners on the lower level.

"Haah......hah......shut up......wait a moment......I'll remember soon......"

"Who can't be trusted? The Tower Master? That's right, it's him. He's the one who can't be trusted......"

"Huh? What did I just say? Who exactly can't be trusted? Bastard! Stop interfering with me! I can't forget......I can't forget something this important......you damned bastard, get out of my body!"

Inside the sinister and terrifying special prison, there was no one besides Arman.

Muen remained silent as well. He lowered his eyes and quietly looked toward the other parts of the room.

At the writing he had noticed from the very beginning, scratched out with fingernails and blood.

"Do not believe......"

Exactly the same as the words coming from Arman's mouth.

However, after those words, there was clearly more.

But everything that followed had been completely smeared over with thicker, brighter crimson, making it impossible to read.

Do not believe......who?
