The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth
Chapter 88 - 87: Chain Reaction, Researching Evil God Flesh and Blood
The Mission Management Agency was a subordinate department of the Mission Management Office, responsible for handling disputes and questionable missions from the Lower House Library.
This included collecting mission information, as well as arranging and determining whether the details of missions issued by Wizards were reasonable.
Directive Missions were different; they were issued uniformly by the Mission Management Office of the Upper House.
When Wang Ya uttered the three words "Evil God incident," every administrative Wizard in the Mission Management Agency, located in the core area of the first floor, was alarmed.
Nearly all of them pushed open the doors of their respective offices and stepped out. In the hallway, they exchanged looks of shock and uncertainty.
’How long has it been since the last Evil God incident?’
’Hundreds of years, or a thousand?’
These administrative Wizards could no longer recall, but they all undoubtedly knew how terrifying and severe an Evil God incident was.
This was a major event that would shake the entire Dark Land. Even Official Wizards might turn their gaze upon it, or perhaps even intervene personally.
A cold voice emanated from the brown wooden door at the far end of the hallway, resounding in the minds of all the administrative Wizards.
"All of you, come see me. Wade, go and bring that little one over. Whether this is truly an Evil God incident remains to be seen."
Wade was one of the older administrative Wizards, and he was indeed very old. His body was slightly stooped, his face was covered in wrinkles, and the Particle Energy within him had all but scattered.
He bowed slightly to the brown wooden door and walked silently toward the exit.
There were many Wizards like him in the Dark Land. With no hope left on their own path, they could only use what little influence they had left to create opportunities for their descendants.
He could be considered a member of a Wizard Clan. However, the clan was minuscule—so small that he was its only Wizard.
Worry flashed in his eyes. ’I hope this Evil God incident isn’t real and doesn’t cause too much of an uproar.’
’When you get old, you can’t stand to see turmoil and upheaval.’
His son possessed the Wizard Qualification. As long as things remained stable and he saved up enough resources for him, his son’s future growth would be smooth sailing.
’But Kelan Wizard has already spoken. What this Lower House Wizard named Wang Ya Harak said is probably true.’
’I wonder how big the chain reaction will be.’
「At the entrance of the Mission Management Agency.」
Wade saw the Wizard who had discovered the Evil God incident. He was wearing a Gray Wizard Robe and stood there with his back perfectly straight.
He was surprisingly young, with a fair face that still held a trace of youthfulness, but his eyes were so much like certain other people.
The same calmness, indifference, and an incredibly clear and resolute goal.
He seemed to see the shadow of Kelan Wizard, and even more Extreme Wizard Apprentices, within him.
Shaking his head to dispel these useless thoughts, he spoke. "Come with me. Kelan Wizard wants to see you. She is the highest administrator of our Mission Management Agency and needs to understand the Evil God incident from you."
A beige Wizard Robe, a head of gray hair, fair skin, and delicate features. Her eyes were too cold, like a frigid lake formed from melted snow—eternally tranquil and indifferent.
This was Kelan Wizard in Wang Ya’s eyes; he couldn’t even distinguish if they were male or female.
A temporary meeting began. The participants included all the administrative Wizards and Wang Ya.
The topic of discussion was primarily related to the Evil God incident.
Wang Ya revealed everything that could be said, but of course, he concealed anything related to the Evil God Flesh and Blood.
As they learned more of the relevant details, the expressions of the administrative Wizards present grew solemn. It seemed the Evil God incident was most likely true.
Moreover, it was a high-risk type of Evil God incident that could spread and have widespread repercussions very easily.
Even Kelan Wizard shot Wang Ya a curious glance.
’To personally experience an Evil God incident, return unharmed, and record such clear information, especially when his Power is only that of a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice...’
If she hadn’t already checked and found nothing abnormal about this little one, she would have suspected he was a mole who had entered the Dark Land under the Evil God’s influence.
"You must be one of the freshmen who just entered the Dark Land, correct?" As an administrative Wizard, Kelan Wizard had naturally noticed some irregularities with the Directive Missions.
As long as it was within the rules, she wouldn’t say much more. She could only sigh internally. ’Has the situation inside the Dark Land started to affect even the freshmen?’
"It is indeed as Master Kelan Wizard says," Wang Ya replied.
The other administrative Wizards in the room were stunned for a moment. ’He’s actually a freshman who just entered the Lower House? No way!’
They had all subconsciously assumed he was a senior Wizard from the Lower House with outstanding combat experience and Power, which was how he could have returned safely from an Evil God incident.
’But... he’s actually a Wizard Freshman! How on earth did he manage it? This is an Evil God incident we’re talking about.’
None of them were confident they could escape safely, let alone gather so much information.
Kelan Wizard smiled and said, "You are quite impressive. When I was at your stage, I was not your equal, and I certainly couldn’t have escaped from an Evil God incident unscathed."
Her gray pupils seemed to see through everything. In fact, for Wizards at her level, the traces on a Little Wizard were extremely obvious.
She could roughly surmise what Witchcraft they had studied, what path they were on, and their general progress.
"Among this batch of freshmen, at least, you should be one of the strongest. I look forward to your performance in the Secret Realm competition in two and a half years."
The other Wizards present had varied expressions, but their eyes all held the same surprise. Kelan Wizard rarely praised someone so highly.
"Regarding your Directive Mission and its rewards, I will discuss it with the high-level Wizards at headquarters later. The information you’ve brought back is extremely important."
Holding the True Sight Ball, Kelan Wizard added, "You will be notified via your Wizard Mark within about a week."
Under the stunned gazes of the other administrative Wizards, Kelan Wizard actually initiated an information exchange with Wang Ya through their Wizard Marks.
By saving each other’s mark information, they could communicate through the Wizard Mark, and even transmit informational content similar to Extraordinary Knowledge.
...
「Back at the Wizard’s Residence.」
Harak could no longer hold back and soared into the sky, letting out a low cry that echoed over the mountain forest, declaring its sovereignty.
Wang Ya paid it no mind. After sensing the Wizard Mark in his palm, the great doors of the Ancient Castle before him slowly swung open.
He pushed open the door to his study and sat down in a chair, a rare look of exhaustion on his face.
Both the high-intensity battles and the contemplation of the Evil God incident had drained him mentally and physically.
Of course, the rewards also brought him great joy.
Kelan Wizard was handling the Directive Mission, so all he needed to do now was wait for the results.
The Evil God incident was temporarily concluded, and in any case, it was still too far removed from him.
The next thing to consider was the Secret Realm competition in two and a half years.
His eyes flickered. ’Even Kelan Wizard made a special point to say something about it.’
’Perhaps the Secret Realm competition has other, more important implications.’
However, the item suspected to be Evil God Flesh and Blood was right there in his storage-type Witchcraft Artifact. This was his greatest gain.
’No one would ever imagine he could obtain something like this.’
’Not even the high-level Wizards from headquarters.’
’For a Level 1 Wizard Apprentice to make it back alive is astonishing enough.’
