Chapter 1228: Apocalyptic Army
Chapter 1228: Apocalyptic Army
Empyrean Oceanheart thought she had already raised her expectation of the Dead Lands high enough after listening to Divine Lord Vaelith’s information.
However, she quickly realized she had still greatly underestimated the swarms.
The concentrated shattered star fragments were never stationary. They were constantly moving, as if in orbit of something far greater in scale. Still, their movements weren’t uniform; they constantly collided chaotically.
Originally, Empyrean Oceanheart thought all these vast moving dark masses were shattered star fragments. Only now did she know how wrong this thought was.
Among those shattered star fragments were actually the swarms.
Even if she was fooled by the darkness, the mere idea of the Undying Fiend Swarms being large enough to be mistaken for shattered star fragments showed just how astronomically large their numbers were.
It was so absurd that Empyrean Oceanheart failed to comprehend how it was even possible.
Even if the Umbral Edge had devoured countless star realms, the Dead Lands surely couldn’t have gathered so many living vessels to form its incomprehensibly large army of Undying Fiends.
"Is there a problem?"
Vaan asked, noticing Empyrean Oceanheart’s visibly shocked expression after she had cast her sensory spell to observe the situation ahead.
"Not quite. However, we can’t take this route. The Undying Fiends in this area have exceeded my imagination. Frankly speaking, I can’t even fathom how the Dead Lands had gathered such a large swarm."
After shaking her head, Empyrean Oceanheart briefly explained the situation and also expressed her doubt.
It didn’t take long before Vaan and the others grasped the situation within the Dead Lands.
While Vaan and Seraphina were startled by the sheer numbers, Divine Lord Vaelith and the other Divine Lords of his tribe revealed even greater shock.
After all, Divine Lord Vaelith and his tribesmen had experienced the horrors of the Dead Lands and had already quoted a high estimation of the Undying Fiends’ numbers.
Yet, such an astronomical number of Undying Fiends still seemed small compared to what Empyrean Oceanheart discovered.
It had to be mentioned that Empyrean Oceanheart had only seen a small part of the Dead Lands with her sensory spell, yet she had already seen so many Undying Fiends.
Given the vastness of the Dead Lands, how many more Undying Fiends were there throughout it?
Divine Lord Vaelith and his tribesmen did not dare to imagine.
The absurd scale of the Undying Fiends was truly mind-boggling and horrifying to imagine. The Dead Lands was simply an apocalyptic time bomb waiting to explode.
"This makes no sense. Even if the Umbral Edge had devoured millions of Star Realms, the scale of living beings the Dead Lands had acquired couldn’t possibly reach this high."
"If Your Divinity had seen the situation correctly, then the life value acquired by Dead Lands had already reached that of several Sectors or even an entire Chaosverse. Such a situation couldn’t possible remain unknown if the Umbral Edge had truly devoured that much."
"However, if the Umbral Edge could truly devour that much unknowingly without alarming countless True Divinities throughout Chaos, then that is even more horrifying!"
Divine Lord Vaelith expressed his opinion with a pale look, his heart sinking deeper into despair. He realized the situation was far worse than he had imagined, and that the appearance of a Soul Master and an Empyrean God wouldn’t change anything.
As such, escape was virtually impossible.
They had only glimpsed a small part of the Dead Lands’ military prowess, yet it was already capable of contending with the whole sector. If a large undead army were suddenly let loose, there would be nothing capable of stopping it. 𝑅À₦Ο𝔟Ęʂ
Destruction and dead would spread wherever the swarms traveled.
The Dead Lands was practically raising an army to bring about the extinction of all life in the Umbral Starreach Sector! No, even the other neighboring sectors wouldn’t be spared!
Empyrean Oceanheart had long halted the advancement of the Azure Wanderer after realizing the sky-high danger within the Dead Lands. Even though they had discovered the presence of the Undying Fiends, they did not recklessly charge into the Dead Lands.
After all, their original intention was to capture a few Undying Fiends to extract information, not attract such a vast swarm.
"Before reaching the Umbral Starreach Sector, we haven’t heard any big news related to the Umbral Edge. As such, it’s unlikely for it to have devoured entire Star Sectors, unknowingly or not."
"After all, such a vast territory can’t just disappear silently without anyone noticing," Empyrean Oceanheart confidently stated.
"Then the Undying Fiends..." Divine Lord Vaelith’s heart trembled with greater fear upon realizing the remaining possibility.
"Right." Vaan nodded, understanding everyone’s conclusion as he voiced it, "Most likely, the Undying Fiends are capable of duplicating or cloning. That’s how they managed to reach such an absurd scale."
Vaan couldn’t help but sigh at the momentous discovery.
He just wanted to reach the Grand Unity Human Clan to avert disaster and overcome his fated death. He didn’t expect to stumble upon such a big secret in the Umbral Edge after being dragged into its deadly abyss. .
Even a kid could understand what was going on after learning such information.
The Umbral Edge was rearing countless mighty armies for the Outerworlders. A great war for Chaos was looming, and all living beings would be forced to participate, whether they liked to or not.
This wasn’t just a clash of civilizations; it was a fight for survival, a battle between life and death.
"Let’s look for smaller patrols outside of the Dead Lands. There’s no need to entangle ourselves in its complicated situation."
"Alright."
Following Vaan’s suggestion, Empyrean Oceanheart agreed to scout for smaller groups of Undying Fiends outside of the Dead Lands.
This was the best choice they had.
Otherwise, they could only give up acquiring information about the Dead Lands. After all, they were still being chased by the Edge Sweeper. Expending so much energy and time on the swarm would compromise their safety and lower their chance of survival.
