Chapter 1206: Impossible to Avoid Death

Chapter 1206: Impossible to Avoid Death

Indeed, the more Vaan thought about it, the more it made perfect sense.

After all, no matter how vast and boundless Chaos was, it was limited to a third-dimensional world. How could it naturally produce anything beyond its own limit?

As such, any fourth-dimensional material discovered was definitely related to Beyond True Divinity-level beings, such as the Lord of Chaos or Outerworlders like the Abyssal Beast King.

In the case of the Hyperion Shards, it was very likely related to the Earth Law’s corruption caused by one or multiple powerful Outerworlders who have comprehended the Earth Law.

’The existence of these Hyperion Shards further confirms the potential evolution of Chaos,’ Vaan silently thought.

While it was true that the Earth Law’s corruption was detrimental to third-dimensional life forms, it couldn’t be said the same for Chaos itself. The mutation in its governing laws could elevate its elemental materials.

Given enough law mutation and material evolution, Chaos would likely upgrade to become a fourth-dimensional world.

To the vast majority of life forms in Chaos, this was a terrible disaster that threatened their survival and even risked extinction. But to someone as powerful as the Lord of Chaos, this was actually an unprecedented opportunity.

Vaan was aware that the Lord of Chaos had long reached a bottleneck in his cultivation, unable to progress any further. The same was true for Varuna. That was why he had ventured into the endless nothingness to search for answers.

Unfortunately, he failed in his quest, had his path cut short, his origin body destroyed, and his soul mutated. Of course, the acquisition of fourth-dimensional sense was the only fruitful gain among this series of misfortune.

’Chaos’s evolution might unlock the secrets to breaking through to a higher realm... I wonder if the Lord of Chaos was actually aiming for that from the beginning, which led to Chaos’s current state...’ Vaan speculated.

If he wasn’t wrong, the situation was completely different from what he had imagined.

Indeed, given the mighty power of the Lord of Chaos, the Outerworlders should have been exterminated before they were given a chance to invade Chaos. Even if he couldn’t defeat them, he could still stop them from entering.

Perhaps the previous state of Chaos had been peaceful. Thus, there were no opportunities for someone like the Lord of Chaos.

’Hard times create strong men, strong men create peaceful times, peaceful times create weak men, and weak men create hard times...’ Vaan recalled this phrase.

He wondered whether the Lord of Chaos had made the right choice.

If his speculation was right, the Lord of Chaos was practically playing with fire. If he weren’t careful, he would be burned by this fire.

’Sigh... Nevermind, those problems are too distant for me to consider. I should focus on the current problems in front of me.’

Vaan shook his head and began contemplating the Edge Sweeper’s weakness.

’Hm?’

Suddenly, Vaan discovered a contradiction when he considered the relationship between the Edge Sweeper and Hyperion Shards.

In the Five Elements Theory, earth naturally suppresses water.

Considering the Edge Sweeper was a whale-type Void Beast, it was natural to assume that it possessed water affinity. If so, how could it coexist with the Hyperion Shards instead of being destroyed by them? 𝑅а𐌽𝔬ᛒƐś

’If the Edge Sweeper actually possesses earth affinity, then it might not really be considered a sea creature. In that case, my previous suspicion regarding it tracking us through my Boundless Sea and Sky Aura is wrong.’

When Vaan thought about this, he wasn’t sure whether to consider it a good or bad thing.

After all, if the Edge Sweeper was incapable of sensing his Boundless Sea and Sky Aura, then that was one major secret kept safe.

However, that would also imply that the Edge Sweeper was tracking them through other means. More likely, it was being directed by the strong being who had marked him with the previous passing shadow.

’I need to find a way to get rid of this mark,’ Vaan frowned.

Unfortunately, besides the initial vague feeling of being marked, there were no other traces. He could not sense the mark on his body. He just instinctive suspected he was marked.

In other words, he was not strong enough to detect it.

The power behind the marking far exceeded the level he could detect. Not even Empyrean Oceanheart could detect it. Yet, his Omni-sense was still powerful enough to determine a high-level material such as the Hyperion Shards.

That could only mean one thing.

The power behind the hidden mark had already exceeded the level of ordinary Beyond True Divinities, and among the Outerworlders, only the Abyssal Beast King had surpassed the first level of the Beyond True Divinity Realm, being on par with the Lord of Chaos.

’No way... Could I really be marked by the Abyssal Beast King?’ Vaan wondered.

Although he hoped that it wouldn’t be the case, he could already imagine the form of his fated death. Most likely, he will be killed by the Abyssal Beast King.

’They say the heavens never shut all doors. Among a hundred doors, even if ninety-nine doors lead to death, at least one door will lead to life. What can I do to survive this deadly situation if I have been marked by the Abyssal Beast King?’

Vaan deeply frowned in thought.

He was just an insignificant nonetity compared to a mighty being such as the Abyssal Beast King. Whatever methods he had available, how could they possibly help him escape its hunt?

’I’m definitely too weak to escape the Abyssal Beast King’s hunt. However, the Abyssal Beast King and the Lord of Chaos restrain each other...’ Vaan suddenly recalled.

If the Abyssal Beast King took action, the Lord of Chaos was unlikely to sit still.

In other words, his best chance at surviving the Abyssal Beast King’s hunt was to rely on the Lord of Chaos’s timely rescue. Unfortunately, he has no means of contacting the Lord of Chaos at all.

’Dammit. What can I do? I can’t just wait around and expect help to come while death approaches, right?’

Vaan began to sense the impossibility of eluding death.
