Chapter 1057: Whisked Away
Chapter 1057: Whisked Away
Cyrena arrived in front of the stone stele at the center of the central market square, the location of the meeting. Although she was aware she had arrived half an hour earlier than scheduled, she still looked around nervously for Vaan’s figure.
Since it was her first date with Vaan, she didn’t want to be late or on time. She had to be early to show her sincerity, even if she was the only one who would know about it.
That said, considering she had dressed up nicely for this rare occasion, Cyrena was bound to attract attention. After all, not only was she beautiful, young, single, pure, and talented, but she was also wealthy and reputable.
She had many positive points that could attract admirers and suitors.
Of course, her status as the best Potioneer in the city trumped everything else. Many men would pursue her if they were given an opportunity.
"Lady Ashenborn? It’s rare to see you outside of your concoction room. Why are you just standing here? Are you waiting for someone here?"
A forty-year-old man carrying the mixed aura of a Rank 5 Transcendent Being approached Cyrena, feeling pleasantly surprised upon catching her lovely figure from the corner of his eyes.
"That’s right," Cyrena acknowledged with creased brows, having no recollection of who the man was. As such, she asked, "And you are...?"
"Ah, where are my manners? My apologies, Lady Ashenborn. I am Doan of the Murphy Family. My aunt had been one of the few High Witches fortunate enough to receive the power of the divine from the Overlord," Doan introduced himself.
He didn’t mind the fact that Cyrena did not know him. After all, he was practically a nobody compared to his aunt. Transcendents had become quite common and were no longer that impressive.
"I see..." Cyrena frowned, unwilling to continue the conversation further.
However, Doan didn’t want to pass up the opportunity so soon. As such, he shamelessly overstayed his welcome and asked, "May I ask who you are waiting for? Quite inconsiderate of them to make a fine lady such as yourself wait."
"I don’t think that’s any of your business, Mister Murphy," Cyrena said in a low tone as her expression darkened, finding the man displeasing.
She did not like people who ran their mouths despite knowing nothing.
...
Astoria and the others in the distance witnessed and overheard the scene, and they immediately addressed the situation through their communication devices.
"We have a situation here. Who is this man? Who let him through? Dammit, what did he just say? Who does he think he is?" Henrietta texted the group.
"Should I remove him?" Aeliana asked, adding a slitting throat emote into the chat group.
The chat group became silent for a moment before Eniwse replied, "Let’s not resort to that. It’s not that serious... yet."
Although Eniwse said that, she added an emote of a bunny whetting a knife with a dark smile afterward, implying she was thinking about Aeliana’s suggestion and it might not be a bad idea.
Astoria and the others were quite speechless. They all knew Aeliana was quite extreme, but they didn’t expect Eniwse to play along with her tune. These two were crazy.
"Um, there’s a situation over here," Linetta suddenly alerted the group.
On her side, she spotted Vaan approaching the meeting spot. He was five minutes early. Furthermore, he didn’t use any disguise, so his presence attracted great attention.
However, that wasn’t the problem.
The excited crowd obediently dispersed the moment Vaan told them he had a date and requested that no one bothered them. He was very popular, but he also possessed absolute authority.
His words were law.
As such, having a public date was never a problem. Once Vaan expressed his opinion, the people would do everything they could to respect it.
The actual problem lies with Ninth Dream, who was also spotted not far away. Vaan’s words didn’t apply to her. Furthermore, she was not included in the harem’s agreement to avoid contact with Vaan during Cyrena’s date. Ṟã𝐍O͍B˧
As such, if Ninth Dream met Vaan, she would definitely want some of his time. After all, the Dreamcatchers had all become nymphomaniacs after tasting his skills in the past week.
Astoria and the others realized they had to act fast after Linetta alerted them.
At that moment, Ninth Dream was enjoying a tub of delicious chocolate ice cream with great gusto not far away from Vaan. When his presence attracted her attention, Ninth Dream immediately felt pleasantly surprised, almost forgetting her ice cream.
However, the moment she was about to call out to Vaan, Aeliana and Eniwse suddenly appeared at her sides, locking her arms and whisking her away.
"Hey—Huh? What are you two doing? Wait! Hey! Hey—!!"
Ninth Dream was helplessly watched as she was taken further and further away from Vaan, her voice muffled with little resistance. She couldn’t overpower Eniwse and Aeliana, who had both received Divine Transformation-level Divine Inheritances.
When her chocolate ice cream dropped to the ground, she felt her heart shattered into a thousand pieces.
...
Meanwhile, Vaan eventually arrived at the meeting spot.
"Who’s this?"
Vaan cast a casual glance at Doan, who appeared to be bothering Cyrena, considering her evident discomfort with his presence.
"L-Lord Vaan!"
Doan staggered a few steps back with great shock. A thousand hooves seemingly galloped in his head as his heart pounded loudly with anxiety and sheer horror.
He didn’t expect Lady Cyrena’s date to be the Overlord himself.
"I’m sorry for bothering you, Lady Cyrena. I’ll take my leave now!" Doan quickly apologized before fleeing the scene with haste, hoping to disappear before Vaan grasped the situation and pursued.
Alas, Doan overestimated his importance. Vaan wouldn’t waste his time and effort on a nobody.
Unless they overstepped their boundaries and sought to harm Cyrena, there was no need to punish the person. Actively suppressing her suitors out of jealousy was only something an insecure, weak man would do.
"Someone’s quite popular," Vaan smiled at Cyrena ambiguously.
"I have nothing to do with him...!" Cyrena panicked, fearing Vaan might have the wrong idea about her and the man she had just met.
"I know," Vaan calmly chuckled before grabbing Cyrena’s hand reassuringly. "Shall we grab lunch first?"
"Mm..." Cyrena nodded shyly after calming down.
However, her heart was thrown into complete disarray. She had made up her mind to be proactive in pulling Vaan’s heartstrings, but when push came to shove, her mind drew a blank.
She was too shy to make any bold moves.
