Chapter 810 The Devouring of Death (1)
Chapter 810 The Devouring of Death (1)
After breaking through to the second stage of the SSS rank in the middle of the battle, everything turned into a nightmare.
Thanatos had already realized that his opponent possessed a strange ability—one that allowed him to adapt and evolve continuously during combat.
From that realization, he reached only one conclusion.
“I have to kill him before he reaches a level of power that could allow him to bring me down!!”
It had become a race against time.
Thanatos—the very embodiment of death—had begun to feel danger.
A fight that once seemed entirely within his grasp had now begun drifting toward the unknown.
Drawing out all of his power, he hurled himself toward Frey as an immense surge of blue flames erupted around him.
Frey answered the assault in kind, summoning the greatest possible output of black lightning aura through the Shadowbolt Spear.
They collided in the heavens, each destroying the other with every exchange.
Their blows were so absurdly fast that the sky itself seemed to quake.
Their weapons clashed at every angle, every corner ..
Everywhere.
Thanatos struck with six scythes, each sending massive arcs of aura tearing through the air.
He summoned dozens of skeletal arms wielding colossal burning swords and unleashed torrents of fiery aura cannons in an attempt to incinerate his enemy.
He used everything.
His strongest attacks.
Striking from every direction imaginable.
At his command, the ocean of blue fire surged upward toward the sky—then detonated directly in Frey’s face.
But Frey countered it with astonishing precision and power.
The Eyes of the Void saw everything.
They carved a path for him through the devastation.
Through Dark Sister, he unleashed Nameless Judgement again and again without fear of exhausting his reserves, thanks to the unique way his aura circulated.
He used black lightning to repel the ocean of blue flames, hurling it against the massive skulls and destroying them.
All of this he did while deftly evading Thanatos’ scythes and fighting him at close range with extraordinary mastery.
His body—enhanced by the power of the Absolute Manipulator—was now capable of reacting to Thanatos completely after his aura output surged following his breakthrough into the second stage.
It was a battle straight out of hell.
Arcs of darkness swept across seas of blue fire.
From time to time, one of them would send the other flying into the distance—only for them to rise again and immediately resume the fight.
The entire continent exploded several times over, as though hundreds of nuclear bombs had been dropped upon it.
The earth became an ocean of fire.
The sky transformed into a raging storm of lightning.
Natural catastrophes clashed violently, each side struggling to seize the upper hand.
Then …
After minutes of combat that felt like years …
Minutes in which the two exchanged hundreds of thousands of blows—
Frey began to feel a strange pain spreading through his body.
His limbs stiffened.
His movements began to slow.
Unlike his opponent, whose speed had not dropped even slightly.
Despite Frey’s astonishing surge in strength, Thanatos still held the advantage.
Yet without his Soul of Death, Thanatos could not unleash devastating killing blows powerful enough to finish Frey in a single strike.
His ordinary attacks were all being deflected.
Which meant the adaptation continued.
And The Pursuer kept pushing Frey forward.
The battle reached a deadlock.
Then, in a terrifying moment during the final minutes of their clash—
Thanatos broke through Frey’s defenses.
One of his scythes swept toward Frey’s neck.
The blade carved halfway through it—
Nearly severing his head entirely.
But Frey stopped the strike by grabbing the edge of the scythe and pouring out the maximum amount of aura—a fusion of Black Hole Aura and Soulfire.
Thanatos gave him no time to recover.
In the next instant, he struck again with another scythe, severing Frey’s arm and attempting to finish him.
But Frey’s body suddenly blazed in the final second …
Cracks of strange violet light spreading across his skin.
“Ignition.”
BOOOOOOOOM!!!
Unleashing his nuclear explosion technique, Frey detonated an overwhelming surge of Black Hole Aura directly in Thanatos’ face, forcing him back hundreds of meters.
A towering pillar of dark aura pierced the sky.
Standing at its center, Frey regenerated his arm and sealed the wound in his neck.
Then slowly ..
He closed his eyes.
The column of dark aura continued expanding, pushing Thanatos far enough away.
At that moment—
A cocoon of shadows burst forth and swallowed Frey whole.
A colossal cocoon.
The mere sight of it turned Thanatos’ face into something resembling a grave.
“He… is breaking through again?!”
Thanatos clenched his teeth, gripping his scythe so hard it nearly shattered.
“Soul Cleaver!!”
He roared, swinging his scythe.
Behind him, a gigantic Grim Reaper manifested.
A colossal skeleton whose size rivaled the entire empire.
The skeletal giant wore a dark, flowing robe.
Its eyes burned with deep blue flames as it raised a scythe vast enough to cover the sky itself.
With one frenzied swing—
The Reaper brought its scythe down upon the cocoon, aiming to annihilate both it and whatever lay within in a single overwhelming strike.
The blade tore through space itself.
It split the heavens in two …
Until it reached the cocoon.
And struck it.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!!!!!!
The impact was catastrophic.
Thanatos’ eyes widened in shock when he saw the impossible.
His scythe had failed to move forward.
It had stopped against the cocoon …
As though it had collided with solid metal that completely repelled it.
The cocoon exploded.
And the figure of the man within it was finally revealed.
He was small—utterly insignificant compared to the colossal scythe towering above him, a blade vast enough to cover millions of him.
And yet…
That small, insignificant man had stopped the scythe’s advance with nothing but his bare hand.
Frey’s body looked different this time.
He appeared pale.
His skin had lost much of its color, and his hair now leaned toward ashen gray rather than white.
Then he opened his eyes.
From them shone a strange white light.
“The third stage of the SSS rank… Origin Revelation.”
Watching from the shadows, Nameless spoke in a quiet voice, astonished by what he saw.
The Pursuer had forced Frey to break through into the third stage.
Origin Revelation was a unique stage.
It was the only one that differed from race to race … one that brought forth an individual’s true potential based on their species.
Upon reaching it, Frey should have awakened the full potential of his human nature, gaining the advantage inherent to his kind.
But what shocked Nameless…
Was that Frey did not gain the trait of humanity.
Instead—
He gained something entirely different.
“This… is the Origin Revelation of Krat.”
That pale complexion.
That eerily calm aura.
Frey had changed completely.
He now resembled the Children of Krat, a race that had gone extinct thousands of years ago.
The sight stunned Nameless.
Even if Frey had become his vessel…
He had still been born human, to two human parents.
“How could he awaken the trait of a race that is not his own?”
Nameless could not understand what had happened.
But in the end, it did not matter.
Because for the first time since the beginning of this battle ..
Frey had gained the upper hand.
Thanatos attacked again.
But Frey blocked him perfectly.
His sword ignited with Black Hole Aura.
He moved far faster than before—
With strength that had doubled.
His movements were flawless.
Like a machine rather than a living being.
Every strike was executed with terrifying precision.
There was not a single wasted motion in his attacks.
The Eyes of the Void glowed more intensely than ever.
Through them, Frey could now see even more pathways …
So many that they resembled fragments of the future itself.
