Chapter 761: A Battlefield Unfit for Mortals (2)
First : Amon could strike his opponent from any direction within the domain.
That was how he had fought Gehrman and Abraham earlier… and how he was fighting Frey now.
Second : inside the Transparent World, Amon was granted limitless aura.
In other words, he could fight without exhaustion, as long as he remained within the barrier.
And that wasn’t all.
“Since this is a spatial ability, your teleportation cannot allow you to escape it.”
The Transparent World restricted Frey’s teleportation to the terrain inside the barrier itself.
He could not teleport beyond it.
Which meant that if Frey wished to escape, he would have to run beyond the domain with his own body.
But the Transparent World moved in accordance with Amon’s position.
In other words ..
As long as Amon pursued him at close range, Frey would never be able to escape.
To make matters worse ..
Amon was already faster than Frey.
Escape was impossible.
“You are truly powerful, Nameless’ vessel…”
Amon said calmly, his smile never fading.
“But you lost the moment you stepped into my world.”
That was why Amon’s expression never wavered .. not even once.
Watching the battle from afar, Gehrman frowned as he struggled to stabilize his vessel.
“What an infuriating ability…”
Spatial abilities had always been a nightmare to deal with.
Crimson’s Red World.
Amon’s Transparent World.
Both were perfect examples.
“Sixth Stage of SSS-class… attack speed surpassing even mine… and on top of that, a spatial domain like this…”
“And he’s still hiding another ability .. one rumored to end the battle the moment it’s used.”
Gehrman’s expression darkened as he grasped just how dangerous the demon before them truly was.
“Excluding Agaroth… it wouldn’t be an exaggeration to say that he’s one of the three strongest demons in existence, alongside Crimson and Gael.”
This assessment came from Gehrman’s intuition .. taking into account the unknown forbidden ability Amon still possessed.
Amon was a true enigma.
Especially that forbidden power.
And even without it ..
He was still lethal.
The battle had reached a critical point.
Frey was completely cornered.
Yet even then, he remained calm, desperately searching for a way to escape the crushing pressure.
His mind raced at incredible speed .. while time itself seemed to flow far more slowly through his Void Eyes.
“What now…? If what he says is true, then dragging this battle out is pointless.”
“As long as he remains within this domain, his power is infinite…”
The only path to victory ..
The only path Frey could see ..
was to escape the range of the Transparent World and strike Amon from outside with an overwhelming attack capable of ending him.
But Frey’s attacks were not powerful enough to kill Amon.
Victory was impossible.
Nameless reached the same conclusion.
“Your power has grown tremendously, Frey… but this is not an opponent you can overcome without breaking into the SSS-class.”
Upon crossing that threshold, every one of Frey’s abilities would increase dramatically—allowing his attacks to inflict devastating damage on foes like Amon.
“Instead of trying to kill him, you must think of the most optimal way to hold him off and escape alive…”
“…while ensuring the survival of your father and sister as well.”
Nameless spoke while observing the battle’s progression.
He said little about Gehrman .. who clearly appeared capable of taking care of himself.
“Despite what I said earlier… switching control to me would make killing him possible.”
“But that is not a good option.”
Nameless’ eyes glowed as he recalled every detail of the fight.
“If I take control of your body now, he will almost certainly activate that secret ability immediately.”
“And judging by his confidence… he believes that ability would be enough to restrain me, if necessary.”
Nameless’ analysis was based on Amon’s earlier words and behavior toward Frey.
It was clear ..
Amon had been expecting to face Nameless, not Frey.
That demon was no fool.
He fully understood how dangerous Nameless was .. yet he had still shown readiness to fight.
“I don’t know what he’s hiding… but for now, we must assume it’s something capable of restraining me, at the very least.”
Therefore ..
Amon must not be forced to use it.
But Frey could not win on his own.
And so, everything reached a dead end.
“He’s worse than Wesker…”
Frey admitted silently, relying completely on his Void Eyes to respond to the endless barrage of attacks unleashed upon him.
Yet with every passing second ..
the end drew closer.
Amon’s crimson eyes glowed with a terrifying red light as he became certain of his victory.
“The moment I find the next opening…”
“I’ll strike you with a blow you’ll never recover from.”
What Frey didn’t know ..
was that the Transparent World granted Amon one additional advantage.
He could compress the entirety of the domain’s power into a single, devastating attack.
Though doing so would instantly shatter the Transparent World .. it guaranteed an overwhelming level of destructive force.
Amon was confident that Frey would not survive it ..
not even with that monstrous regenerative ability of his.
He had no intention of killing him.
What Amon wanted was to cripple him ..
to leave him in a state bordering on death.
Once that happened, Amon intended to take Frey with him… along with Abraham ..
and slaughter everyone else.
“Now!! Let’s end this!!”
Amon laughed loudly, a chilling, spine-crawling laugh,
while Frey clenched his teeth, racing against time to find a way out.
Between Amon ..who was now certain of his victory.. and Frey who had reached a dead end ..
everything suddenly darkened.
The very fabric of space shuddered, as if warning of impending catastrophe.
Both Frey and Amon froze.
Shock and disbelief were written clearly across their faces,
as a cold shiver violated their bodies.
Elsewhere ..
Gehrman slowly closed his eyes.
“…At last.”
The blue-eyed man whispered softly, preparing himself for what was to come.
Frey and Amon had been too consumed by their battle.
Neither of them noticed what was happening ..
until it was already too late.
The ground beneath them withered unnaturally, drying out completely, as if something had forcibly drained all life from it.
Black fog swallowed the land and the air alike, while freezing winds surged from every direction.
Amon stopped immediately.
He turned his head toward a certain direction, his brows knitting together.
“What kind of ominous feeling is this… damn it?”
Taking advantage of Amon’s hesitation,
Frey instantly retreated, widening the distance between them.
He even stopped using the Void for a few seconds, trying to ease the crushing strain it placed on him.
Yet even he dared not ignore what was happening.
