Chapter 243: Chapter 243: Charming Fei Zhao 8 (Finale)

"Impossible!" Chi Ya’s roar echoed through the cavern:

"The God of Fertility’s Illusion can’t be shattered."

The words had barely left his mouth when Fei Zhao’s Phosphorus Powder swept in like a storm, and crimson Fox Fire instantly engulfed half the altar.

Chi Ya scrambled back, his black robes scorched with gaping holes that revealed the twisted tattoos beneath.

When the smoke cleared, all the Bone-breaking Grass in the blood pool had withered, and Chi Ya was nowhere to be found.

But a faint pulsing sound emanated from the abdomen of the God of Fertility statue.

"It’s Hong Chengtian’s heart!"

Fei Zhao’s head snapped up, his pupils contracting sharply.

Su An’an’s Divine Light formed a sharp blade, stabbing straight toward the statue. "Then we’ll just have to kill him again!"

BOOM!

The moment the statue exploded, a dark red heart rolled out from the rubble, the black blood vessels wrapped around its surface still squirming.

Su An’an lifted her foot and stomped down. Pink Divine Light burst forth, instantly pulverizing the heart.

Black blood from the burst heart splattered onto the toe of her boot, corroding it with a HISS of white smoke.

Chi Ya’s venomous roar echoed from the distance:

"Just you wait! Lord Red still has four hearts!"

"Four more."

Fei Zhao’s voice was as cold as ice:

"It seems the remnants of the Rebel Army are hidden deeper than we thought."

"Let’s save the cubs first!"

Su An’an stepped onto the center of the altar, the Golden Light of her Royal Family bloodline spreading out like a tide.

The dark red Scale Powder crystals, which had been absorbed by the Bone-breaking Grass, began to soften and purify within the Divine Light, transforming into fine motes of light that flowed into the bodies of the cubs, all of whom were unconscious from blood loss.

Their eyelashes fluttered, and color gradually returned to their pale little faces.

One by one, they opened their eyes, looking around in a daze.

"Big sister?"

The youngest little white fox weakly tugged on the hem of Su An’an’s clothes. "Are we safe now?"

Tears welled in Su An’an’s eyes as she gently stroked his head. "Yes. It’s all over now."

The tattooed male foxes of the Broken Bone Tribe fled in terror, but were driven back by a sudden surge of waves.

The waves suddenly parted, and a tall, slender figure descended upon a curtain of water.

Lan Cangming wore a pure white Marshal’s uniform, his ice-blue hair cascading down like a waterfall.

His face was as handsome as an ice sculpture, but his eyes, deep as the ocean, held a hint of warmth when they fell upon Su An’an.

"Am I late?"

His voice was like shards of ice striking one another, but it softened when his gaze met Su An’an’s.

Su An’an shook her head, the cub in her arms tightly clutching the bloodstained corner of her clothing. "You’re just in time. These children need treatment."

"Medics."

Lan Cangming raised his hand, and the Sea Clan warriors immediately fell into formation and stepped forward. "Take them to the warship. Treat them with the purest sea crystals."

After the last cub had been carried away, Lan Cangming formed an Ice Crystal on his fingertip and gently pressed it to the back of Su An’an’s bleeding hand.

"How did you get hurt?"

The Ice Crystal melted, and the wound healed at a speed visible to the naked eye.

Fei Zhao’s tail suddenly bristled. "Hey, mermaid..."

"Jealous thing."

Lan Cangming shot him a cool glance, his long, ice-blue hair shimmering under the moonlight.

Su An’an quickly grabbed Fei Zhao’s arm. "Stop it. There are still females waiting for us to rescue."

Su An’an stepped alone into the gloomy female cave.

The numb females were still huddled in the corners, their empty eyes not even flickering at her arrival.

"I am the Imperial Crown Princess, the Divine Female Su An’an!"

She dropped her disguise, and her pink Divine Female light illuminated the entire cave. "I’m here to take you away."

In a corner, Gu Yue’s head snapped up, her cloudy eyes widening suddenly. "You’re not my sister’s descendant?"

"I’m sorry. I lied to you before."

Su An’an crouched down to be at eye level with the old female. "But my Beast Husband, Fei Zhao, is Gu Xue’s son."

Gu Yue’s withered fingers gripped her sleeve tightly. "My sister... she..."

"She died bravely."

Su An’an said softly, "She protected Fei Zhao, and she protected countless females like you."

A dead silence fell over the cave, broken only by a single sob.

In a corner, a young female clutching a frail, mixed-blood cub finally broke down and cried.

Su An’an stood up, her Divine Light spreading out as gently as the morning dawn. "The world outside is different now."

"Hospitals can treat the cubs’ illnesses, schools can teach you to read, and jobs can let you support yourselves."

She reached a hand toward the cave entrance. "Do you want to go see for yourselves?"

Gu Yue rose unsteadily to her feet, murky tears carving paths through the wrinkles on her face:

"This is the world my sister gave her life for us to see!"

Outside the cave, morning light pierced the clouds, shining down upon the first group of females to emerge from the darkness.

The Broken Bone Tribe was no more. The male foxes who had committed such atrocities were punished, and the females and cubs were settled into the best possible care.

Standing on a reef where waves crashed and sprayed, Su An’an laid out Chi Ya’s entire plot:

"Hong Chengtian still has four hearts, hidden in different places."

Lan Cangming’s long, ice-blue hair stirred in the sea breeze, and a ripple disturbed the calm of his ocean-deep eyes:

"I will have the Mermaid Fleet conduct a thorough search of every sea."

His fingertip lightly brushed over Su An’an’s almost-healed wound. "Are you sure you don’t need a Mermaid Clan Healer?"

"Fei Zhao’s care is more than enough."

Su An’an smiled and shook her head, but he pulled her into an embrace that smelled of sea salt.

"Hey!"

Fei Zhao’s tail instantly fluffed up into a poof ball. "This is Anan’s and my vacation time!"

Lan Cangming released her long before the Fox Fire could erupt. As he retreated, the waves beneath his feet froze into a staircase of ice.

"I’m leaving now. Remember to soothe your jealous thing."

The Mermaid Fleet disappeared over the horizon like a receding tide.

Leaving only an indignant Fei Zhao, who pulled Su An’an into his arms. "He absolutely did that on purpose!"

"Don’t be angry. It’s time to go home," Su An’an said, rubbing his fox ears.

Outside the porthole of the Royal Airship, the sea of clouds churned like silver waves.

Leaning back in a plush leather seat, Su An’an focused a pink light at her fingertips, carefully mending the tag on Fei Zhao’s necklace.

Within the Divine Light, the shattered bone of the tag fused back together. The cracks slowly vanished, leaving behind a warm, smooth luster.

"Your mother was incredible," she said softly, the pad of her thumb tracing the patterns on the tag.

"She knew how dark the Broken Bone Tribe was, yet she still chose to resist, even sacrificing herself to protect you."

Fei Zhao silently took the tag, his fingertips brushing over the warm surface.

The great weight that had pressed on his heart for so many years finally began to lift.

"Even though she didn’t live to see this day..."

"...at least we did it," he said, his voice hoarse as he gazed out the porthole into the distance.

Su An’an cupped his face, turning his gaze back to her. "She would be so proud of you."

Fei Zhao suddenly buried his face in her neck, his fluffy tail coiling tightly around her waist, squeezing so hard she could barely breathe.

Su An’an chuckled lightly, her fingers threading into his soft hair. "What’s this? Is the great Master Fei Zhao actually being cuddly?"

"Only for you," he breathed against her neck, his breath growing hot. "Do you remember our promise?"

The tips of Su An’an’s ears burned hot. Out of the corner of her eye, she glimpsed the flashing navigation lights on the console. "Now? Here?"

Fei Zhao’s canines grazed her collarbone as he chuckled lowly. "We have a long flight back, anyway..."

「One week later.」

Little Pink’s mechanical eyes flashed wildly. "Master! Your biological readings are abnormal!"

Su An’an frowned. "What’s abnormal?"

"According to the scan, you are pregnant with a fox cub!"

A stream of hearts popped up on Little Pink’s display. "Congratulations, Master! Congratulations!"

Fei Zhao’s tail exploded in a puff of pink, and his beast tattoo, now upgraded to 4S, glowed with a Golden Light.

"Looks like someone’s Level 4S talent is pretty effective!"

Su An’an teased, poking the burning tip of his ear.

Fei Zhao swept her up into a bridal carry, as his Phosphorus Powder burst into countless heart-shaped motes of light in the air.

Little Pink spun around gleefully. "A historic moment! Should I inform the other four lords?"

"You dare!" Fei Zhao’s death glare sent Little Pink zipping back into Su An’an’s sleeve with a WHOOSH, though not before it sneakily snapped a photo of the moment.

One month later, Su An’an gave birth to an adorable little female cub with pink fur.

Meanwhile, beneath the clouds, where the sea met the sky, a dark shadow bobbed silently on the waves.

Its shape looked remarkably like a beating heart.
