The Villain Reborn as Game's Final Boss
Chapter 404: Flashback
Leaving aside the fact that my mana would get depleted at a faster pace... there was another issue to deal with.
A sudden usage of huge chunks of my mana could stretch the mana supplying mechanism of my core to its absolute limits, and in the best case... it could result in severe damage to my mana core.
As for the worst case... well, that was certain inescapable death for sure.
"Neviatris."
Whispering the name of my second spell whose circuit was already in its formation, I channelled controlled amounts of mana to the circuit before materialising my spell.
Particles of earth formed in the air through the circuit, before they joined together to form numerous lances that were about half a foot in their lengths.
Each of the lances began to spin at a monstrous speed, before I made the fire from my earlier spell cover them from all sides... resulting in the earthen lances getting heated up to a temperature that turned their colour from their original dark grey to a dark bright shade of red.
Channelling more mana through my core, I increased the speed of the lances before shooting them straight ahead along with the fire covering them from all sides.
"Imernevia."
Uttering the name of the combo, a light smirk formed on my face, as the entire room shook once, from the collision of the lances with the wall that stood before my eyes.
These walls were made from materials that were sturdy enough to tank the attacks of Immortals, let alone a Gold 3 like me.

"I... don’t think it will suit me—"
"It will."
Sophie just awkwardly nodded her head as Yennifer had made her wear a dress that was a little too revealing for the former’s taste.
It had open shoulders which let quite a good area around her neck open, and even went on to show hints of her cleavage—
"Maybe... I can try another one."
Though Sophie was grateful to Yennifer for helping her understand the trending fashions... still, she wasn’t comfortable in such—
"Sure you may. We will finalise this one, and buy a dozen more."
"..."
Sophie just stood there, unable to process the thought of someone having to buy these many clothes.
When she had been at home... Sophie only had a few pairs of clothes in total, and even those were rarely used, as Sophie always had a fixed dress on her.
Yennifer despite her cold side at first, had a seemingly... unique interest in fashion as she made her try all types of outfits one after the other with no breaks in between.
"There’s no need to be so surprised about it. I would have made you buy more of them... but knowing that you don’t want to make a clutter of them... I am trying to help you select the best ones."
Yennifer uttered the words, as if what she had said was the most natural thing in the world.
And maybe for her... it indeed was.
"By the way... if you don’t mind, may I ask what’s your actual relation with Kael?"
The question was supposed to be a casual one, yet the moment it left Yennifer’s mouth it was as if the very atmosphere in the air had shifted to a serious one.
Sophie just sighed in return, as she had expected Yennifer to ask about the same, but honestly... Sophie didn’t want to portray Kael in a negative light.
Her argument with Kael was based on his relation with her father, but that didn’t mean that Sophie hated Kael.
And how could she even hate the person, who had been responsible for curing her?
If not for him... she would still have been couped up in her room or in the worst case... Sophie would have already been dead due to her disease, as in the recent years it had gotten quite severe, to the point that Sophie hadn’t been able to sleep for days as a result of constant pain that had always embraced her body without rest.
"He is a friend of my father."
Sophie decided to be partially honest in her answer.
"Friend? Is your father some enemy of the Frosts?"
Taking a step further, Yennifer closed her distance with Sophie before asking the question in a voice that was closer to a whisper.
"Hm? Why would he be an enemy—"
"I mean... you do know that Kael has hostile relations with his family, and according to what I had seen I think that... he will be fighting against his house in the future."
"..."
"So if your father is some close friend of his... then that leaves the only possible outcome."
Yennifer’s analysis was spot on, but for Sophie it was the first time that she had heard about it.
Sophie wanted to ask as to why Kael was hostile towards his own family, but with her being the daughter of a close friend of Kael and not knowing such basics... would defeat all purpose—
"Kael was supposed to be the heir to House Frost, but due to his incompetence... his father, Duke Castor Frost, had removed him from the position and made Kael’s younger brother Kevin the new heir. After that there had been many disputes within the family, and I think Kael had even left his house following some incident at the royal banquet... to never return."
"..."
"His first appearance must have been at the academy itself."
Yennifer as if sensing Sophie’s thoughts gave a quick flashback to the girl, with a small smirk plastered over her face, which disappeared the moment Sophie raised her head to meet Yennifer’s gaze.
"I—"
"You don’t have to tell me. I just overstepped my boundaries and shouldn’t have asked such a question. Please forget that I had ever asked about it."
Sophie was just confused at Yennifer’s behaviour, but she was grateful at the same time, as she had no idea what type of answer could have been the safest and the best one at the moment... given that she did not know about anything related to Kael.
