The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 209 - 208: A Change of Style
Chapter 209: Chapter 208: A Change of Style
With a stable outlet for the products from the Graveyard Demon finally secured, the weight on Gu Su’s heart was lifted.
He sat at the bar, absentmindedly stroking the glass in front of him, a smile he couldn’t suppress playing on his lips.
This trip had been worth it. Sure, he’d waited over three hours for nothing and had been pestered by that bizarre little punk for what felt like an eternity, but it was still worth it.
Putting aside the fact that he’d gotten a free blueprint for a Trading Post, the stable purchasing channel Yuan Guang offered was enough to make Gu Su happy.
What did this mean? It meant he no longer had to worry about finding buyers for his special products. It meant that no matter which Game World he ended up in, he was guaranteed a steady stream of income.
As for the batch of loot he’d snatched from the battlefield earlier, he hadn’t said a word about it.
It wasn’t that he didn’t want to sell it; it just wasn’t necessary.
This business deal was for the long haul, a slow and steady stream. It was far more profitable than offloading a few odd pieces of scrap all at once.
The loot wasn’t going anywhere if he left it in the Graveyard Demon. He could always pull it out later if he was short on cash.
Besides, those things were war materials. He might have a use for them himself in the future, so there was no need to be in a hurry to sell.
However, since Yuan Guang was in the resource business, Gu Su wasn’t about to let this opportunity slip by.
He leaned closer to Yuan Guang and asked in a low voice, "How are your Resource channels? I’m short on everything on my end.
Building materials, weapons, blueprints, manpower—if it’s useful, I need it.
You’ve been in this business for years, you must know plenty of people, right?
Any reliable channels you could recommend?"
Just as Yuan Guang was about to speak, there was a sudden stir beside them.
The girl who had been sprawled on the bar, asleep for the past three hours, suddenly sat bolt upright.
She sat perfectly still, with no trace of the grogginess one would expect after waking up. Her eyes were clear and her movements were crisp, as if she hadn’t been sleeping at all.
Gu Su froze for a second. A thought surfaced in his mind. ’She wasn’t pretending to be asleep this whole time, was she?’
The girl turned her head and stared directly at Gu Su, a faint smile playing on her lips.
This wasn’t the cloying, flirtatious smile from before. This was the calm, self-assured smile of someone who had everything under control, as if to say, ’I heard every word.’
"In DT-501, nobody has more stock than we do."
Her voice was clear and sharp, tinged with a matter-of-fact confidence.
Gu Su’s eyes narrowed, his suspicion deepening. ’So she really was eavesdropping the whole time.’
He didn’t bother beating around the bush and shot back, "I want a Golden Finger. You have one of those, too?"
His words were confrontational—a clear test, meant to call her bluff.
’Who could just casually produce something like a Golden Finger?’
But the girl didn’t even blink. "Of course I do."
"But if you want it, it all depends on what you’re willing to give in return."
She said it bluntly, not in that high-pitched, cutesy voice from before, but in a straightforward tone, as if she were negotiating a deal.
Gu Su understood perfectly now. ’So this is her true self.’
He rolled his eyes, not wanting to deal with her any longer, and turned to Yuan Guang. "Why don’t we find somewhere else to talk?"
Yuan Guang’s expression stiffened.
He knew exactly what Gu Su meant: he didn’t want any trouble and wanted to get out of there.
But where could they go?
The whole of DT-501 was this girl’s father’s turf.
That old man could even influence the style of the entire sector. His power was frightening, and his businesses were spread throughout the core district.
No matter where Gu Su hid, if she wanted to find him, she would.
Unless Gu Su got up and left right now, went straight into a game, and chose a different docking point for his next visit, there was no escape.
Yuan Guang understood this. So did Gu Su.
Just as Gu Su was about to change the subject to dispel the awkwardness, he noticed Yuan Guang’s expression grow even stranger.
Noticing his gaze, Gu Su’s heart sank. He whipped his head around and glared at the girl, his tone hard. "What exactly do you want?"
The moment the words left his mouth, he froze.
The girl completely ignored his question. She was busy fiddling with her various punk accessories.
She raised a hand, yanked off the lime-green hairpiece, and tossed it back over her shoulder. The wig traced an arc through the air and landed perfectly on an empty stool behind her, revealing a neat, pure-black bob cut.
Next, she reached up to her eyes. With a quick pinch of her fingers, she popped out the red contact lens from her left eye, then the purple one from her right. Without a glance, she flicked them aside.
The two thin lenses tumbled through the air and landed with a soft CLICK on the bar, rolling a couple of times before coming to a stop.
Finally, she opened her mouth. With a push of her tongue, the stud came loose. She spat it out, and the small piece of metal went CLATTERING into the corner, stopping only when it hit a bottle.
The entire process was fluid and seamless, performed without a shred of hesitation.
It was like she was shedding a disguise to reveal her true self.
Once she was done, she picked up a clean glass, poured a bit of liquor into it, dipped the cuff of her sleeve, and started scrubbing her face.
After a few moments, the chaotically painted makeup was gone, revealing a completely different face. Her skin was fair, her features delicate, and her eyes held a certain sharpness. She looked like an ordinary young woman, but the intensity in her gaze suggested she was anything but.
Gu Su was completely speechless.
’What the hell? Where did the rebellious girl covered in piercings go?’
’The one with the glowing green hair?’
’How did she change so completely in the blink of an eye?’
The girl raised her head to meet his gaze, her tone placid. "My dad likes that style, but it isn’t mine.
I have to break away one day."
Gu Su understood. She was explaining why she dressed in that ridiculous getup.
’But what concerned him more was why she was explaining any of this to him?’
"My name is Li Li," the girl continued, her tone leaving no room for argument. "You can call me Sister Li."
’Sister Li?’
Gu Su grumbled to himself. ’The girl looks like she’s in her early twenties, a few years younger than me. What right does she have to make people call her ’Sister’?’
But since she’d said it, he couldn’t be bothered to argue the point.
What he called her didn’t matter. The important thing was what she wanted.
"I heard your conversation earlier. You have an Earth Type Golden Finger?" Li Li asked, her scrutinizing gaze fixed on him as if confirming a suspicion.
Gu Su nodded. "I do."
He still hadn’t figured out her intentions, but there was no reason to hide the fact that he had an Earth Type Golden Finger. He hadn’t been secretive about it while talking to Yuan Guang, after all.
When Li Li heard this, a smile touched her lips, and she got straight to the point:
"I’m tackling a game right now, and I happen to need a nail.
You’re it."
