Three full hours later, Yuan Guang finally sauntered down from the second floor.
Gu Su, who was sitting at the bar, had already grown numb from waiting.
The bar’s din was incessant. The guys bragging at the next table were still at it, the dice players in the corner were still howling, and the drunk slumped over the bar hadn’t moved. Everything was just as it had been when he first arrived.
The only thing that had changed was the girl who had hit on him earlier.
She was now sprawled on the bar, face buried in her arms, dead to the world.
Her head was tilted to the side, her lime-green hair fanned out across the bartop, rising and falling gently with each breath.
The stud in her tongue would occasionally peek out from between her lips, glinting in the dim light.
She was surrounded by empty glasses. Anyone could tell at a glance that there were at least seventeen or eighteen of them, arranged in a neat cluster. Some still had a little liquor at the bottom; others were completely dry, with only stains left on the sides.
Yuan Guang walked over, his eyes sweeping over the girl before landing on Gu Su with a curious expression.
"Yo, what’s all this?"
Gu Su shrugged helplessly. "She came over on her own, said she wanted to get to know me.
I turned her down, so she just sat here drinking, one glass after another, until she passed out."
He paused, then added, "I didn’t lay a finger on her.
In fact, I even had to shoo away a few guys looking to take advantage. You have no idea. A bunch of guys saw she was drunk and tried to drag her off, but I stopped them."
After hearing this, Yuan Guang’s expression became a little odd.
He looked at Gu Su with a wry smile. "When a girl comes up to you like that, it means she *wants* you to be the one to take her home, you know?
In a place like this, at a time like this, what do you think she’s here for?"
Gu Su shook his head, his tone serious. "She’s not my type."
Yuan Guang stared blankly for a second, then broke into a laugh. "You... ah, forget it."
He waved his hand dismissively, sat down next to Gu Su, and glanced at the girl again.
The girl was sound asleep, completely unaware that people were talking about her right next to her.
Behind the bar, Peter continued to leisurely wipe glasses, ignoring the whole scene as if he’d seen it a thousand times.
"Alright, let’s talk business." Yuan Guang’s expression turned serious. "I’ve tried your specialty products. They’re good.
Whatever you can produce over there, I’ll buy it at a high price. I’ll take as much as you can give me."
Gu Su’s eyes lit up. Just as he was about to speak, Yuan Guang continued.
"And to make sure your trading isn’t interrupted while you’re in the game, I can provide you with the architectural design for a Trading Post."
"A Trading Post?" Gu Su was intrigued.
Yuan Guang nodded and began to explain in detail.
This architectural design would allow him to build a Trading Post directly in the Graveyard Demon Land.
Once it’s built, he would only need to place the goods for sale in the Trading Post each day, and a dedicated merchant caravan would come by regularly to transport them.
He wouldn’t have to run errands himself, nor would he have to worry about being ambushed on the road.
Even better, if there were any supplies he needed, he could leave a note at the Trading Post detailing his requirements.
After the caravan saw the note, they would deliver the items he requested on their next transport cycle.
Of course, this would certainly be slower than a direct face-to-face trade, and the cycle would be much longer.
But the advantages were also obvious: the transactions would take place on Gu Su’s own territory, so he wouldn’t have to worry about security at all.
Whether delivering goods or receiving them, everything would be completed within the Graveyard Demon Land, where outsiders couldn’t possibly enter.
After hearing this, Gu Su’s mind raced as he calculated the possibilities.
In his current situation, he really needed something like this.
Running around in the game was too time-consuming, and it wasn’t safe to travel with merchandise.
With a Trading Post, he would have a stable distribution channel. No matter where he went in the future, he could guarantee his specialty products would be exchanged for the supplies he needed.
And most importantly, the trading would happen on his home turf. He wouldn’t have to wait three hours in a chaotic bar like today, dealing with all sorts of strange people and situations.
"The design... what’s the price?" he asked.
Yuan Guang waved his hand. "Just sell me your specialty products. Think of the design as a bonus.
It’s not that rare anyway; the Guild has plenty of them. Just go back, find a place to build it, and it’ll make trading between us much more convenient."
Gu Su understood. He nodded, sealing the deal.
Once the deal was settled, Yuan Guang clapped Gu Su on the shoulder and gestured with his eyes toward the girl slumped over the bar, his tone teasing. "So, you really don’t like it here?"
Gu Su followed his gaze for a moment, then looked away and shook his head gently.
"I can’t see through them," he said, pausing as if to organize his thoughts. "I just don’t like this kind of environment."
’He was telling the truth. Back when he worked in the mines, the ones he interacted with most were brainless Zombies.’
’Everything was straightforward with them. No nonsense, just get the job done and leave.’
’After so long in that environment, he had long since grown accustomed to a direct way of communicating—saying what needed to be said and nothing more.’
’He really couldn’t handle the subterfuge in a bar like this. Who was testing whom, who was trying to get something out of whom, who was backing whom, whether the people who approached were toxic... he couldn’t be bothered to guess, and he couldn’t figure it out anyway.’
’Everyone had a smile on their face, but he had no idea what was hiding behind it.’
Yuan Guang’s smile faded slightly, replaced by a more serious expression.
"I don’t like it here either," he said. "But sometimes we have to come."
He pointed a finger at the girl on the bar and lowered his voice. "Do you know who she is?"
Gu Su shook his head.
"Her father is the leader of the biggest game Guild in the DT-501 District.
The Doomsday Wind of DT-501... that’s the one her dad controls."
Yuan Guang’s voice dropped even lower. "Of all the people in this place, more than half of them are here for her.
People who want to make connections, people who want to ride her coattails, people looking for an opportunity to climb the ladder—they’re all here with their own agendas. You think those guys who hit on her are really just after her looks?"
Gu Su was stunned. He glanced again at the girl, dead to the world. With her facial piercings, tongue stud, lime-green hair, and mismatched red and purple eyes, she looked exactly like some punk girl who’d never worked a day in her life. Who would’ve guessed she came from such a powerful background?
He was silent for a few seconds before suddenly asking, "So if I sell my products here, they should be pretty popular, right?"
Yuan Guang opened his mouth, wanting to say something, but in the end, he just pointed at Gu Su, shook his head, and let out a long sigh.
’This kid... What on earth goes on in that head of his?’
