The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 194 - 193: The Third Devoured Mobile City
Chapter 194: Chapter 193: The Third Devoured Mobile City
————————————
Gu Su was woken by Crow’s Caw.
Groggily, he felt something pecking at his shoulder. It wasn’t heavy, just a steady tapping with the distinct hardness of bone.
He opened his eyes and found himself covered in a thick layer of Big Leaf Lily seeds. The paper-thin seeds were piled in layers over his body, like a grayish-white blanket.
He sat up, and the seeds rustled off him, scattering into the soil at the base of the Deceitful Tree.
"What is it?"
Gu Su stretched his slightly stiff neck and looked around. There were no shouts of battle, no explosions. The area by the wall was quiet, showing no signs of a fight.
Crow’s Caw swooped down from a nearby branch and landed on his shoulder. Its bony beak moved:
"The players from the DT-501 District sent to reinforce and fill the lines have arrived.
The gaps in the Defense left by those who died in battle have been filled."
Gu Su froze for a moment, not processing it right away.
A few seconds later, he understood what Crow’s Caw was saying.
"So soon?" he asked, a bit surprised.
Crow’s Caw tilted its head, the Yin Fire in its eye sockets flickering. "My Lord, it’s not that fast.
If we didn’t get more players in, you’d have to cover seven or eight Defense sectors by yourself."
After hearing this, Gu Su couldn’t help but chuckle.
"HAHA, I can’t handle that many." He stood up, brushing the dirt and seeds off himself. "I can help cover sections 71 and 73 on the sides, but forget the rest."
He rolled his shoulders and turned to look in the direction of his living quarters.
Then, he froze.
The RV that served as his living quarters, wrapped in a white cocoon by the Corroding Mycelium, was still there.
Its condition was unchanged; it was still thickly enveloped in mycelium, showing no sign of unwrapping.
But his gaze traveled past the living quarters and landed on something farther away.
The wall had retreated.
The familiar clearing around the Deceitful Tree had now expanded significantly.
Before, standing under the Deceitful Tree, he would have had to walk several steps to reach the wall. But now, the wall had retreated a considerable distance. He could even see the clear tracks of its withdrawal, with fresh marks of churned earth left on the ground.
The Graveyard Demon had grown larger.
Gu Su subconsciously took a few steps forward, his eyes sweeping across the entire interior of the Graveyard Demon.
The once-cramped space now felt open. A large new clearing had appeared by the Withered Wood Forest, and the area around the Yin Fire Heap was much more spacious. The most obvious change was with the Gravepiles; once packed tightly together, they now had ample distance between them.
Moreover, the wall was still moving.
Staring at the distant, grayish-white wall, he could clearly see it pushing outward at a visible speed.
It wasn’t fast, but it was definitely moving, inch by inch, as if something was pushing it from below, causing it to constantly expand outward.
An indescribable sense of satisfaction welled up inside Gu Su.
This was the Graveyard Demon digesting the giant lizard and the Mobile City.
The sixty-plus-meter-long Six-legged Giant Lizard, the mobile platform built on the back of a giant crab.
After being devoured and broken down by the Corroding Mycelium, the two mountain-like remains had finally been converted into tangible territory.
’This was a huge win.’
He withdrew his gaze and looked toward his living quarters again.
But the living quarters looked the same. The white mycelium was wrapped tightly around it, creeping from the base of the walls to the roof, encasing the entire RV in a giant cocoon. The doors and windows were hidden, and there was no sound or movement from within.
Gu Su frowned.
’I’ve been asleep for so long, why isn’t the upgrade finished yet?’
He turned his head to look at the Yin Fire Heap, the Withered Wood Forest, and the other familiar structures.
Then he discovered that it wasn’t just his living quarters; several other places were also wrapped in Corroding Mycelium.
Over at the Yin Fire Heap, the original three-meter-tall Melting Furnace was now also covered in a layer of white mycelium. Only the top of its chimney was exposed, emitting faint wisps of black smoke.
At the edge of the Withered Wood Forest, the trunks of several trees were also entangled in mycelium, as if they had been parasitized by something.
’Everything is upgrading.’
Gu Su was a little surprised. He turned to ask Crow’s Caw on his shoulder:
"How long was I asleep? Why aren’t these things done upgrading yet?"
Crow’s Caw tilted its head again, the Yin Fire in its eye sockets flickering.
"My Lord, you have been asleep for three hours."
Gu Su was taken aback. ’Three hours?’
’I was already out for over two hours before this. Add another three, and the assimilation should definitely be complete by now.’
’What’s going on here?’
Perhaps sensing Gu Su’s confusion, Crow’s Caw continued.
"Actually, the Corroding Mycelium had already finished assimilating the Giant Beast and the Mobile City.
But Healthy Body found another Mobile City that had been destroyed by the giant lizard, and they’ve already dragged it back.
What the Graveyard Demon is assimilating now is that thing."
Gu Su’s eyes lit up.
’Another one?’
He remembered Bone Ash and the others searching along the giant lizard’s path, saying there might be another destroyed city they hadn’t found yet.
’So that was it.’
"What’s it like?" he asked.
Crow’s Caw was silent for two seconds.
"I can’t describe it." Its voice carried a rare hint of confusion. "When it was brought back, it was already broken into several pieces.
When it was dragged back, its original form was completely unrecognizable. There’s no telling what type of Mobile City it was."
Gu Su’s brow furrowed slightly.
’Even Crow’s Caw can’t describe it.’
’The White Crows under Crow’s Caw’s command are always observing from high above. They have the clearest view of everything inside and outside the Graveyard Demon.’
’For Crow’s Caw to say it’s indescribable, just how shattered must that thing be?’
He subconsciously started walking toward his living quarters, wanting to check the system panel and see what the Graveyard Demon had actually assimilated.
But he stopped after just two steps.
’The living quarters are still wrapped in mycelium. I can’t get in.’
Gu Su stood under the Deceitful Tree, looking at the still-expanding wall in the distance, then at the mycelium-covered structures around him. He was silent for a few seconds.
’Forget it.’
He turned and walked toward the wall.
’Since I can’t get into my quarters, I’ll go check the wall. I want to see for myself just what the hell Healthy Body and the others dragged back.’
After climbing onto the wall, Gu Su finally understood why Crow’s Caw had said it couldn’t describe it.
The Mobile City that had been dragged over was already covered in white Corroding Mycelium.
But from where Gu Su stood, no matter which angle he looked from, it resembled a colossal, three-headed humanoid corpse that had been covered over.
No wonder Crow’s Caw had said it couldn’t explain it clearly.
Even now that Gu Su was here, he couldn’t explain it clearly either.
As Gu Su stared at the scene before him, Crow’s Caw landed in front of him.
"Crow’s Caw, do you think this is a Mobile City?"
"Even though it doesn’t look like one, My Lord, it really is a huge Mobile City!"
