Chapter 185: Chapter 184: The Final Reinforcement and Completion

Back in his room, Gu Su raised his hand and brought up the Graveyard Demon’s system panel.

The screen’s cold, white light illuminated the dim room. He swiped his finger, scrolling to the newly added building information.

Deserted Twisted Corridor.

Lines of text streamed past his eyes, and he gradually began to understand the details of this thing.

Come to think of it, this place was somewhat similar to his Dark Erosion Cave. Both were regional construction clusters, not single buildings, but entire functional areas.

The Dark Erosion Cave was a hodgepodge of multiple structures like the Mushroom Cave, Poisonous Insect Cave, Five Poison Chicken Coop, Research Room, Laboratory, and Library, all cobbled together in the basement.

The Deserted Twisted Corridor was different. It was a complete, self-contained construction system.

After the foundation was laid, the panel already listed the available construction options:

Melting Furnace, Casting Furnace, Casting Workshop, Weapon Warehouse.

Tapping on each option revealed a detailed explanation: what materials were needed, how many workers, how much time it would take, and the quality of equipment that could be produced.

The Melting Furnace was for smelting metal, the Casting Furnace was for shaping it, the workshop was for creating blueprints and research, and the warehouse was for storage.

The four parts were interlinked, forming a complete equipment production line.

As Gu Su read, he couldn’t help but click his tongue.

’This single blueprint is worth several regular architectural designs.’

’No wonder this thing has its own dedicated upgrade missions. It’s not a simple building at all, but a small industrial park. If the Graveyard Demon’s current area wasn’t so small, this thing could even be designated as its own district.’

Unfortunately, that wasn’t possible right now.

He closed the panel and glanced out the window at the newly formed patch of sand.

The fine, grayish-white sand shimmered faintly in the morning light. It was flat, smooth, and completely empty. Forget a Melting Furnace, there wasn’t even a shed.

Gu Su leaned back in his chair, his fingers unconsciously tapping the armrest.

He was pondering a question: ’What should I do next?’

The logical approach would be to start crafting equipment, complete the missions, and slowly build this place up. But he didn’t plan on rushing to throw random things into it—at least not before finishing the missions.

The lesson from the last Graveyard Demon repair mission was still fresh in his mind.

That mission had clearly required him to seal three Ghosts or Wandering Souls. But because the Graveyard Demon had devoured the corpses on its own, the mission was skipped, and the three Ghosts that should have become pilots were just... gone.

If Lu Chen hadn’t reminded him later, he still wouldn’t know what he had missed.

He couldn’t make the same mistake twice.

The Deserted Twisted Corridor had clear upgrade missions: craft equipment, research blueprints, and invest flesh. So he would follow the mission requirements to the letter, step by step, and get all the rewards he was due. As for everything else, that could wait until the missions were done.

As he was thinking, he suddenly remembered the frying pan that the Deceitful Tree had devoured.

Actually, when he wanted the frying pan, it wasn’t because he was in a rush to cook something.

The automatic cooking pot in his room could only make soup, but it was good enough. He wasn’t desperate for another pot.

His real intention had to do with the Corroding Mycelium.

The initial mission for the Corroding Mycelium was to cook it himself. Gu Su had just gotten lucky and found a naturally-occurring Corroding Mycelium.

But Gu Su still needed to have his own recipe, which was why he had thought about getting a pot.

Unfortunately, the Deceitful Tree intercepted it midway.

Gu Su shook his head, pushing the matter from his mind.

’If it was swallowed, it was swallowed. The Deceitful Tree is part of the Graveyard Demon anyway, so it doesn’t make much difference.’

He stood up, pushed open the iron door of his room, and walked down the passage on the other side toward the basement.

The last Flesh Talent Writer was still in his hand.

This was something he should use sooner rather than later. After all, many things were best done early.

The light in the basement was much dimmer than outside. Only the Glowing Vines on the walls emitted a ghostly green light. Gu Su walked down the stairs, his footsteps making soft sounds.

A Walking Dead trailed behind him.

It was an ordinary Walking Dead with ashen-gray skin and tattered clothes. Only a chaotic, ghostly light glowed in its eye sockets.

It walked up behind Gu Su and just stood there blankly, awaiting his command.

After reaching the basement, Gu Su first glanced around. He saw that Bone Ash had already cleared away a pile of construction debris, and some machines and electronic components that looked repairable had been sent to Tooth Bone.

The space here was now noticeably larger. Gu Su’s vehicles could finally be parked separately.

’That’s better.’ Gu Su sighed inwardly. He reached into his coat, pulled out the last mass of the Flesh Talent Writer, walked over to the Walking Dead, and pressed it onto the top of its head.

The moment the Writer touched the Walking Dead’s skin, it immediately began to squirm.

Translucent tentacles frantically burrowed into its facial orifices—eyes, nose, mouth, ears. The Walking Dead’s body began to tremble violently. A suppressed growl rumbled in its throat, and the ghostly light in its eye sockets flickered erratically, as if it might go out at any moment.

But soon, the trembling stopped. The Writer vanished completely into its body, its tentacles dissolving into nutrients and merging with the Walking Dead’s flesh.

The Walking Dead’s physical form didn’t change, but a faint, almost imperceptible glimmer of light appeared in its once-chaotic eyes. It raised its head, looked at Gu Su, and awaited his question.

"What Talent?" Gu Su asked.

The Walking Dead was silent for a few seconds, as if sensing the changes within its body. Then, in a hoarse, almost inaudible voice, it haltingly spoke a few words:

"Flesh... repair. Can use... flesh... to fix vehicles. Engine... can fix too."

Gu Su was stunned for a moment, then asked it to explain in detail.

The Walking Dead struggled to organize its thoughts, speaking bit by bit. Its voice grew smoother as it talked.

The Talent it had acquired was called "Flesh Repair." When needed, it could use flesh to perform various repairs on vehicles—patching up damaged chassis, mending broken frames, and even filling gaps inside an engine to get previously scrapped parts working again.

After listening, Gu Su nodded thoughtfully.

’This Talent... doesn’t sound much like the Undead’s way of doing things.’

Using flesh to repair vehicles, using flesh to patch up machinery... this seemed more like the method of some bizarre creature than proper Undead Magic.

’How would parts saturated with flesh feel when they operate? Would they carry the aura of a living thing? Would they have some kind of bizarre instinct?’

But on second thought, he let it go.

’Who cares what style it is? As long as it works.’

In the end, everything would be influenced by the Graveyard Demon and adopt an Undead style anyway. From Gu Su’s perspective, it didn’t really matter what method was used for the initial repairs.

He pointed at the vehicles, entrusting them to the Walking Dead. Just as he was about to leave the basement, a frantic voice suddenly sounded in his ear.

A Communication Puppet jumped out from nearby. The palm-sized figure was agile, hopping in front of him. Its movements were as insistent as a ringing telephone, and from its mouth came Alice’s voice:

"Sir, the enemy is attacking again!"
