The Undead Calamity Begins with a Graveyard Demon
Chapter 132 - 131: The Dark Erosion Cave in Operation
Chapter 132: Chapter 131: The Dark Erosion Cave in Operation
"I’ll have the Red Bone Squad come over. Additionally, I’ll also transfer all the other Skeletons and Walking Dead who haven’t been assigned jobs yet.
We’ll see how many are suitable to stay then."
Gu Su didn’t ask the Corpse Witches exactly how much manpower they needed, giving his promise without hesitation.
In his view, most of the Undead in the Graveyard Demon were currently idle. It was only natural to dispatch some of them to manage the Dark Erosion Cave.
The immediate priority was to get the Dark Erosion Cave operational as soon as possible. After all, it held his hopes; it was the source of Resources for the Graveyard Demon’s future development and, more importantly, a pillar of endless wealth.
’Gu Su understood perfectly well that he didn’t have a large number of Undead under his command. Even if all of them ate to their hearts’ content, they wouldn’t consume much food in a day.’
’The mushrooms, chicken meat, and chicken blood produced daily by the Dark Erosion Cave, along with various toxic ingredients and alchemy materials, could mostly be packaged and sent to the trading market to be sold.’
’Once he had Gold Coins, he could purchase many more things. Whether it was architectural blueprints, rare materials, or other supplies, he would be able to handle it all with ease.’
’Thinking back to his regret with Zhi Xiang, Gu Su couldn’t help but feel a little emotional.’
’If he’d had money on hand back then, he would have bought several more architectural blueprints one way or another. The Dark Erosion Cave wouldn’t be limited to just the Mushroom Cave, the Poisonous Insect Cave, and the Five Poison Chicken Coop as its three core production facilities.’
’But it was too late to talk about that now. The basic layout of the Dark Erosion Cave was already set in stone. Trying to add new buildings or expand the variety of products was now next to impossible.’
The Corpse Witches, on the other hand, didn’t overthink it. For them, as long as Gu Su agreed to send manpower so they could smoothly advance their research and the Cave’s operations, it was enough. As for the number of personnel and future plans, Gu Su would handle the overall coordination.
Not long after he spoke, a large number of Skeletons were the first to pour down the stairs into the Dark Erosion Cave. The light CLICK-CLACK of their Bone Joints colliding echoed through the empty, dilapidated space.
The Skeletons of the Red Bone Squad were particularly conspicuous. Without needing any orders, they immediately headed for the Mushroom Cave, expertly weaving between the stacked old wooden racks. They carefully picked and sorted the mushrooms and Poison Mushrooms on the shelves, their movements precise and orderly.
The remaining Ordinary Skeletons, however, lacked the unified command of a Minion. After entering the Dark Erosion Cave, they seemed somewhat lost, standing scattered in place, awaiting instructions.
They had to rely on external commands to repeat single actions. The more detailed the command, the better; simple commands could lead them to make incorrect judgments and develop flawed behavioral patterns.
Fortunately, the Corpse Witches possessed a degree of intelligence. Seeing the situation, they immediately stepped forward and methodically guided the Skeletons, funneling them to various corners of the Dark Erosion Cave. They patiently demonstrated the workflow for each task, teaching them to familiarize themselves with their respective duties.
Most of these jobs were repetitive, trivial tasks, yet they were perfectly suited for Skeletons, which lacked the ability to think for themselves.
They might not understand the meaning behind their actions, but they could execute commands with precision.
Some Skeletons squatted by the Poisonous Insect Cave, holding crude containers, mechanically and precisely collecting the venom secreted by each poisonous insect.
Others were responsible for transporting the dead insects, delivering them neatly to the feeding trough of the Five Poison Chicken Coop for the roosters inside to eat.
Still others were assigned to stand guard by the coop. Once the roosters were fully grown, they would be removed and processed according to procedure.
Draining the blood, taking the meat, precisely collecting the Pure Yang Chicken Blood and edible chicken meat, and then tossing all the useless feathers and entrails into the Poisonous Insect Cave for the newborn insects to devour. Nothing was wasted.
The most ingenious part was the internal cycle within the Dark Erosion Cave. This cycle wasn’t just a mechanical process; instead, it exuded a vibrant, Spiritual quality. It was like a small, self-sufficient world where every link was tightly connected, interlocking in a perpetual, self-renewing loop.
The roosters fed on poisonous insects. Their droppings, mixed with the insects’ molted skins and the leftover roots of mushrooms, were collected by the Skeletons on command. Everything was dumped onto the soil of the Mushroom Cave. Nourished by the unique toxic atmosphere within the Dark Erosion Cave, it slowly fermented into rich fertilizer, nurturing the vigorous growth of the mushrooms and Poison Mushrooms on the wooden racks.
Once the mushrooms matured, some were used to feed the Undead, while others were taken to be sold. The decaying mushrooms, in turn, were eaten by the poisonous insects, supplementing their food source.
The poisonous insects grew and reproduced. Venom was collected from some to be used as Gu Refining materials, while others became feed for the roosters. The remains of dead insects and the waste from the chickens returned to the soil, nourishing the growth of more mushrooms.
There was no excess waste, no disconnected steps. Every product found its purpose, and every piece of waste was transformed into new nutrients. It was as if the Dark Erosion Cave itself had Life, silently completing its own cycle of self-sustenance under the care of the Undead, slowly releasing a continuous stream of value. 𝒻𝑟ℯℯ
In just one short hour, the once somewhat chaotic Dark Erosion Cave had become orderly and methodical.
The Skeletons each performed their duties without interfering with one another. The Corpse Witches patrolled and supervised from the side, occasionally stopping to jot down notes. The entire Dark Erosion Cave was filled with a busy yet orderly atmosphere, and its cyclical system was now running smoothly.
Just then, Red Bone strode up to Gu Su, gave a slight bow, and spoke respectfully, "My Lord."
Gu Su looked up, his gaze sweeping over the busy Undead before him. He asked in a level tone, "How are things?"
"My Lord, I’ve already helped the Corpse Witches organize all the work."
Red Bone reported in a steady, articulate voice.
"From now on, we only need to leave eighty Skeletons and fifteen Walking Dead here. If they follow the preset routes and procedures, we can guarantee the Dark Erosion Cave’s normal daily output without any issues.
I’ll just need to come by once a week to make adjustments and ensure their actions don’t deviate from the established commands."
Gu Su nodded slightly, his gaze lingering on the busy Undead for a moment. He didn’t ask why fewer than a hundred of them were needed.
’He knew very well that the Undead were different from the living. They didn’t need to rest. As long as they didn’t receive new orders, they could work tirelessly without end. These eighty Skeletons and fifteen Walking Dead were more than enough to support the entire operation of the Dark Erosion Cave.’
"Set aside some food for them,"
Gu Su added after a moment of thought.
"Don’t let them work here and not even get a bite to eat."
Red Bone didn’t say much, simply turning to go and make the detailed adjustments.
Then, Gu Su saw a Skeleton take a rooster from the coop. It slit the chicken’s neck, pulled its head back forcefully, and then put its mouth to the wound and took a long drink.
The chicken blood was sucked into the Skeleton’s body, and the flames in its eye sockets grew noticeably brighter.
It was clear that the Pure Yang Chicken Blood held an immense attraction for the Undead.
To the Skeletons, this was no longer ordinary chicken blood. It was Yang Qi and lifeblood—a powerful restorative.
