Gu Su pushed off the ground, his body shooting like an arrow toward the crooked merchant. He raised the Plague Cutter and, without the slightest hesitation, swung it down at the man’s head.
At that moment, his eyes were filled with cold killing intent, the flames of vengeance burning within them. He had no intention of showing any mercy.
This bastard who dared to cheat him had to pay his debt in blood today.
The crooked merchant wasn’t dead yet. His lower body was a mangled mess of flesh and blood from the explosion. He lay on a pile of rubble, screaming ceaselessly. His voice was shrill and pathetic, his mouth repeating pleas for mercy, his eyes filled with terror and despair.
Unfortunately, he still hadn’t recognized Gu Su. He just thought he had bad Luck and had run into an outside invader, never once considering that Gu Su had come specifically for him.
Meanwhile, the two other Zombies that had been lucky enough to survive the explosion were dragging their mangled bodies, struggling to crawl toward Gu Su. Their stiff arms flailed uselessly, trying to stop Gu Su’s fatal Attack.
But Gu Su’s attention wasn’t the least bit distracted by these two Zombies. From the very beginning, his only target was the crooked merchant gasping for his last breaths before him.
How could he, having come this far on the path of revenge, possibly let the main culprit go at the final step?
Gu Su’s finger pressed the switch on the Plague Cutter. The fifty-centimeter-long chainsaw instantly let out a piercing WHIRRR—. The chain at the front, pieced together from shards of rat fangs, began to spin wildly, exuding a chilling aura as it sliced directly into the merchant’s neck.
The sharp chain instantly tore through the merchant’s neck. Fresh blood spurted out, splashing onto Gu Su’s sleeve.
The shrill pleas for mercy came to an abrupt halt as his neck was severed. All that remained was the piercing buzz of the spinning chainsaw, echoing in the secluded area behind the mine.
Gu Su gave his wrist a slight flick. Carried by momentum, the Plague Cutter swept through, and the merchant’s head fell to the ground. It rolled into a nearby pile of rubble, its eyes still wide open, frozen in the terror of its final moments.
Having dealt with the crooked merchant, the rage in Gu Su’s heart subsided slightly, but his actions didn’t pause for a moment.
He lifted his foot and kicked hard at the merchant’s mangled chest. The immense Power sent the corpse tumbling several times, landing right in the path of one of the crawling Zombies and temporarily slowing its advance.
Gu Su then spun around, raising the still-whirring Plague Cutter again and precisely slicing at the neck of the other Zombie struggling toward him. A Zombie’s neck bones were normally much tougher than a player’s, but empowered by the Plague Cutter’s Burst effect, that toughness meant nothing, offering no resistance at all.
With a crisp SCHLICK, the Zombie’s head was brutally severed. Black ichor spewed out, and its body convulsed a few times before going completely still.
It had to be said, the might of the Plague Cutter was truly astonishing. As long as Gu Su got close, it didn’t matter if the opponent was a player or a Zombie—everyone was equal before its chain.
After cutting off the Zombie’s head, Gu Su had plenty of time to turn back and lock his gaze on the final Zombie, which was still struggling to crawl forward.
He strode forward without hesitation. The Plague Cutter in his hand fell once more, and he cleanly finished off the last Zombie, eliminating all remaining threats.
After killing all his targets, Gu Su bent down and picked up the two Zombie heads and the merchant’s head. He piled them neatly together, then dragged the three mangled corpses over and threw them heavily on top of the heads, completely burying them beneath the bodies without leaving a single gap.
After doing all this, Gu Su slowly retreated about ten steps to a safe distance. He stared at the pile of corpses with an icy gaze, raised his hand, precisely aimed his fingertip at the target, and muttered a low command.
"Subordinate Corpse Explosion!"
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
Three violent explosions followed one after another, shaking the surrounding rubble and causing it to tumble down. The force of the blasts not only completely obliterated the three mangled corpses but also pulverized the three heads buried beneath them into fine dust, scattering them into the soil until they were completely unrecognizable.
Gu Su quickly walked over to the explosion site and carefully examined the area. After confirming that not a single trace was left that could identify the dead, and that no clues had been missed, he finally stopped. He looked at the empty ground and said fiercely,
"You got Lucky. I was planning on feeding your head to the dogs."
His tone carried a trace of lingering hostility, as well as a sense of relief that came after taking revenge.
After saying this, Gu Su didn’t linger. He spun around, crouched low, and used the surrounding rubble and weeds for cover as he quickly ran toward the outskirts of the mining area, afraid that if he delayed any longer, he would attract the attention of more Cyan Ghost Gang players.
Not long after Gu Su left, two waves of patrolling Cyan Ghost Gang players, each with their own team of Zombies, rushed over. As soon as they approached the explosion site and saw the devastation—where even fragments of flesh had been blasted to dust—they instantly understood what had happened.
The face of one of the players, who appeared older, darkened as he shouted harshly.
"It’s Corpse Explosion! A full-fledged player has infiltrated!
Quick, send up a signal! Notify everyone to carefully search the mining area and see if anyone is stealing ore. We absolutely cannot let the ore be stolen!"
As soon as he finished speaking, another player took out Signal Flares, and without even checking the model, lit all of them and shot them into the sky.
The colorful Signal Flares exploded in mid-air, as brilliant as fireworks, but they carried a signal for high alert, making them exceptionally conspicuous in the sky above the vast mining area.
Immediately after, the entire nearby mine plunged into chaos.
All the Cyan Ghost Gang players sprang into action. Some searched back and forth inside and outside the mine shafts, looking for traces of the infiltrator.
Others stood guard at the ore storage areas, strictly preventing anyone from stealing.
Even players who were eating or resting were all roused and forced to relentlessly search for the potential ore thief.
Everyone’s attention was consumed by the theory of a potential ore thief. No one bothered to investigate just who their companion, who’d been blown to bits, actually was.
And no one would ever think that the crooked merchant, who had been blasted to dust, hadn’t died trying to stop an ore thief, but had instead died as the target of a spur-of-the-moment act of revenge.
The battle that subsequently broke out in the mine further covered everything up. As more Cyan Ghost Gang players died in the fighting, the crooked merchant’s death became even less conspicuous.
He didn’t even get to leave a name behind.
And it was precisely by taking advantage of this sudden chaos that Gu Su avoided the search parties, silently broke out of the Cyan Ghost Gang’s territory, and easily left No. 3319 Mine, completely escaping danger.
