Gu Su held his breath behind a pile of rubble, Lurking silently for about half an hour. His eyes remained fixed on the figure guarding the mine entrance, his focus unwavering.

Just then, his eyes narrowed slightly, pupils constricting as he locked onto a familiar figure.

The crooked Cyan Ghost Gang merchant who had cheated him was finally on the move.

Gu Su’s gaze followed him intently. He watched as the merchant raised his hand, pointed at the three Zombies beside him, and gave a simple wave. Gu Su instantly understood his intentions.

He was about to follow the patrol schedule and take the Zombies out on their route.

’The opportunity has finally come.’

Gu Su suppressed the surging killing intent in his heart. With swift and nimble movements, he hoisted two canvas-wrapped corpses onto his back. He then instinctively touched the Plague Cutter at his waist. The cool touch of the Metal reassured him that the weapon was secure and hadn’t come loose, allowing him to relax slightly.

At this moment, the crooked merchant was still standing at the mine’s entrance, waiting for one of the players from the previous patrol to return before he set off.

Gu Su didn’t act rashly. He remained Lurking, his eyes locked on his target as he made a final confirmation. He couldn’t afford any mistakes that might cause him to lose this hard-won opportunity.

Fortunately, it seemed fate was on Gu Su’s side this time.

Not two minutes later, the player on patrol returned on schedule and took up the guard post at the mine entrance.

Seeing the post was filled, the crooked merchant didn’t linger. He led his three Zombies and set off unhurriedly along the patrol route.

This meant he had officially begun his patrol shift.

A chill went down Gu Su’s spine. ’I’m running out of time.’

His plan was simple. As long as he could get the two corpses on his back properly set up before the merchant reached the designated spot, the rest of his revenge would go off without a hitch.

After all, Gu Su had just leveled up. His stamina was now far greater than that of the Game Workers who couldn’t level up—in fact, it was double that of a normal person.

Even carrying two canvas-wrapped corpses on his back, he could still maintain his agility and run as fast as a normal person, barely hampered by the weight.

This alone made him far superior to the already slow-moving Zombies.

Even though Gu Su had to stay hidden, deliberately skirting open areas and keeping low to the ground to avoid being spotted by other guards, he still managed to reach his pre-selected ambush point within fifteen minutes, thanks to his superhuman stamina.

The spot was located toward the rear of the mountain. It was a relatively remote area, overgrown with low weeds and scattered rubble, making it perfect for hiding and Lurking. More importantly, it was an unavoidable part of the crooked merchant’s patrol route. As long as Gu Su set his trap here, he could be sure his enemy would walk right into it.

Upon arriving, Gu Su wasted no time. He quickly unloaded the two corpses from his back and deftly dug two pits of suitable depth. He then carefully placed one corpse in each pit, lightly covering them with dirt and smoothing the surface to ensure they wouldn’t be discovered prematurely.

After setting everything up, Gu Su immediately concealed himself, moving quickly behind a large boulder about thirty meters from where he had buried the corpses. He began Lurking again, his eyes fixed on the burial spot, holding his breath and waiting silently for the merchant and his Zombies to arrive.

Time ticked by. After waiting for about eleven minutes, the stiff footsteps of a Zombie finally echoed from the distance. Gu Su’s expression tightened. ’They’re here.’

He peeked out slightly and, just as he expected, saw the crooked merchant leading his three Zombies. They were meandering toward him, their pace slow, completely unaware of the lurking danger.

Gu Su’s gaze swept over their formation. ’It’s just as I observed.’

Their patrol formation was identical to what he had observed earlier.

One Zombie always walked in the front to scout the path, while the other two flanked the crooked merchant. The three of them walked abreast behind the scout, their vigilance not particularly high.

It was precisely because he had figured out their patrol formation that Gu Su had deliberately placed the buried corpses according to it. This was to achieve the optimal ambush effect and give them no chance to react.

In the blink of an eye, the Zombie in the lead had stepped past the location of the first buried corpse Gu Su had prepared and was heading straight for the second.

This was the key. The Zombie hadn’t noticed anything unusual underfoot, so the player following behind wouldn’t give it a second thought.

’Everyone thinks like that. Why would he be any different?’

And so, the crooked merchant and the two Zombies flanking him slowly approached the first burial spot, now just a few steps away.

’Now!’

A cold glint flashed in Gu Su’s eyes. He no longer hesitated. He shot his hand up, his fingertip aimed squarely at the ground beneath the lead Zombie’s feet, and growled, "Subordinate Corpse Explosion!"

BOOM—

As Gu Su’s finger pointed down, the ground beneath the Zombie’s feet erupted in a violent explosion. Dirt and rubble flew everywhere.

Caught completely off guard, the lead Zombie was violently thrown into the air by the sudden blast, sent flying along with the dirt and debris. Its body was instantly torn to pieces.

The sudden turn of events left the crooked merchant behind him completely stunned.

His eyes were wide with disbelief, his mind a total blank. He couldn’t process what had just happened, let alone think to command his two remaining Zombies. He was frozen to the spot.

’This is my chance!’

Gu Su didn’t hesitate for a second. He shot up from behind the boulder, aimed his finger at the merchant’s position, and growled once more, "Subordinate Corpse Explosion!"

BOOM—

Another violent explosion erupted. The other corpse, buried not far from the merchant’s feet, detonated, and a massive shockwave swept out once again.

The blast sent the merchant and his two still-dazed Zombies flying, slamming them heavily into a nearby pile of rubble with a dull thud.

But Gu Su’s vengeance was not yet complete. His gaze swept over the air, watching the Zombies fall heavily from the sky, his eyes utterly devoid of emotion.

’These Zombies are targets too. As long as any of them are still moving, I can’t give them a chance to strike back.’

Gu Su’s finger twitched. He once again aimed at the falling Zombies and shouted sharply, "Subordinate Corpse Explosion!"

BOOM—

A third explosion followed immediately. The corpse of a Zombie that had just been killed in the blast was detonated, sending rubble and zombified remains flying everywhere.

This time, the heavily wounded crooked merchant’s lower body was blown clean off. Blood gushed out as a horrifying scream echoed through the remote rear of the mountain.

The killing intent in Gu Su’s eyes did not fade. Seizing this perfect opportunity, he violently drew the Plague Cutter from his waist. He pushed off with his feet and charged toward the wailing merchant on the ground.
