the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1536 - 1523: The Second Honeymoon
Because it was their wedding night, and Chloe was drunk, Constantine really went at her that night, made her call him "uncle" then "brother." Listening to the little girl’s soft, sweet voice, he completely lost control, and before he knew it, he’d gone at her pretty hard.
Mindful that their sex life had been a bit too... intense lately, Constantine let her off for the second half of the night. He rested his hand on her flat little belly, pulled her into his arms and kissed her over and over, only then going to sleep, thoroughly satisfied.
Married life wasn’t much different from before, except for how they addressed each other. It was just that a second marriage and a first marriage were ultimately not the same thing.
Constantine confiscated her phone. They holed up in the hotel for three days being all lovey-dovey, then went off to honeymoon in the small towns around Paris. By the time the two of them finally crawled out of their newlywed sugar jar and could restrain themselves a little, seven days had already passed.
Constantine went back to the company to resume the shareholders’ meeting, while Chloe lounged around the hotel killing time. Desmond Wood had organized Constantine’s assets into a list and brought it over.
"Mr. Stewart said that since you’re married now, there are a lot of things Mrs. Stewart needs to know. This is Mr. Stewart’s asset list." Desmond placed the thick stack of documents in front of Chloe, smiling. "The house on Fulham Road in the Imperial City—Mr. Stewart previously said it would go under Mrs. Stewart’s name, and now all the paperwork is done. Not only that, the Stewart Family ancestral French-style villa has also been transferred to Mrs. Stewart’s name. These properties are Mr. Stewart’s way of giving you something to fall back on. The rest are other real estate and assets."
Desmond picked out the property certificates and Constantine’s secondary card one by one and handed them to Chloe.
Seeing that Constantine had actually given her two villas, one of them that inherited French castle, Chloe was stunned and asked, "Isn’t that French castle the Stewart Family ancestral home? Constantine put that under my name too?"
"Yes, Mrs. Stewart. Actually, Mr. Stewart hasn’t gone back to the ancestral home even once these past years. Now that it’s under your name, if you go back from time to time to have a look, maybe Mr. Stewart will drop by occasionally too." Desmond hinted tactfully.
That French castle was very valuable—extremely valuable—and it was special to the Stewart Family. But over the years, Mr. Stewart treated the ancestral home like some mysterious taboo, just leaving it there like a display. If Mrs. Stewart took it over, that would be a good thing.
"This secondary card has no spending limit, and its permissions are the same as Mr. Stewart’s card. This is the company’s financial statement. If you want to know anything, just ask me. Mr. Stewart said you have the right to be informed about these matters." As Desmond spoke, he was secretly a bit floored. That Imperial City villa, plus the French castle, and on top of that Mr. Stewart’s stance that the couple’s assets were to be shared—that’s basically why he even got married—Mrs. Stewart had straight-up become a multi-billionaire.
Chloe herself was a bit dumbfounded. Constantine had never mentioned any of this to her. Her own savings weren’t much, but they were enough to keep herself fed without trouble. So now he was telling her to be a total rice weevil, not needing to struggle anymore?
Chloe put away the property documents and the card, deciding that however she lived before, she’d keep living that way going forward.
"Mr. Stewart will wrap up company matters over the next couple of days. If Mrs. Stewart has the time, you can start picking out dresses and jewelry for the wedding." Desmond said, moving over a thick stack of jewelry catalogs with a smile. "If you have any requirements for the wedding, you can bring them up. We’ll plan the wedding based on what you want."
"Okay, got it." Chloe stared at the thick pile of asset lists in front of her, plus all the wedding stuff she needed to pick, and instantly had a headache. She sent Desmond away first, then went to find her own phone, put it on charge, and opened it to log into the game.
She calculated that she hadn’t logged in for over ten days. As soon as she opened the game and saw her account, she was completely stunned. The previously empty account had suddenly jumped to fifth place on the rankings, geared out like a top whale, every detail of the build done perfectly.
As soon as she logged on, she saw Desmond invite her to the party, then ask in party chat: "Account Leveling 23? Why’d you suddenly drop offline? We’ve all been waiting for you to carry us AFK through dailies."
Chloe raised an eyebrow and checked the party setup. Sure enough, it was the same team she’d put together before for the Master Championship, and that little husband-and-wife duo were there too.
Violet Smith: "Yeah, little bro, hurry up and carry us through the quests."
Gentle Slash: "Your ’little bro’ is right here, don’t be calling other people."
Chloe suddenly remembered the last few nights—she had no idea what had gotten into Constantine, but every single day he kept making her call him "brother." Especially when it was getting heated, if she didn’t call him brother he’d go at her like he was going to wreck her. Now just hearing the word "brother" made her scalp tingle.
She quickly typed a line in party chat: "It’s me, in person."
Violet Smith: "23, don’t be scared, this dog Gentle Slash is no match for your account. You’ll always be my little bro."
Gentle Slash: "Cut the crap, come duel."
Gentle Slash’s account was ranked around top thirty on this server. The duel invitation came in fast. Chloe’s hand twitched and she tapped accept, and the two of them entered duel mode.
The previously all-green gear empty account was now geared like a top-tier whale. Duelling an account like Gentle Slash’s was basically like chopping vegetables.
Chloe hadn’t touched the game in a while, so her hands were a bit rusty. It took her three seconds to finish Gentle Slash’s account off. The big tall, mighty DPS character got chopped down and lay flat on the ground like a corpse.
In the party, Gentle Slash spammed a string of ellipses: "Holy shit, how are you even more busted than yesterday’s duel?"
Chloe: "Because it’s actually me playing."
"You, in person, Chloe?" Desmond let out a dramatic "wah" and started pounding the table, wailing like a ghost, "So you still remember how to show up, huh? Every time I call you your phone’s turned off, turned off, turned off. Where the hell have you been these days?"
"Getting married and honeymooning." Chloe lazily typed a line.
Meanwhile the little husband-and-wife duo were still stuck on the shock that it was actually the account owner online. Originally, they counted as people with some money—born and bred in the Imperial City, a few apartments between them, plus they were both executives, living quite comfortably. They’d thought they were pretty hardcore with how much cash they’d sunk into the game, but there’s always a taller mountain. First they ran into a senseless whale like Desmond, then a whale couple account with dozens of Account Leveling servicers. At this point the two of them were just numb.
Over the past half month, they’d already gotten used to the fact that aside from the two of them, who were just poor dogs, everyone else in this party were second-generation rich! Real-deal second-generation rich!
"!!!" Desmond typed a flood of exclamation marks, then kept spamming crying faces.
Chloe burst out laughing, sending an across-the-screen patting emoji.
Violet Smith: "Big shot, is it really you personally on the account? Did you really just kill Gentle Slash?"
Chloe: "My hands are a bit rusty. I was planning to end the fight in ten seconds."
Gentle Slash: "!!!"
So this whale couple account wasn’t some cute newbie team at all. The little husband-and-wife pair were on the verge of tears, now harboring deep awe for the other top player who still hadn’t even logged in, shivering in fear.
