the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1526 - 1513: Why Are You So Bad?

Kyla Zamora meant that Chloe Winston hadn’t officially announced her retreat from acting, she was merely taking a temporary break. Now that she’s back in the Imperial City, she could continue studying while acting.

Chloe Winston’s career was at its peak now; it would be a pity to quit the industry.

Chloe instinctively glanced at Constantine Stewart. Since getting back together, she subconsciously hoped he could help guide her, as this decision impacted where she would be in the future.

Constantine saw her looking up at him with her big, dewy eyes, appearing exceptionally adorable. His heart was moved, and he wanted to hold and kiss her. However, he dared not move; he had been overly indulgent these past days, especially last night. While drunk, he had put her through quite a bit, making her so upset that she wanted to sleep in separate rooms. Constantine had been coaxing her for half a day and was determined to rein himself in a bit.

"Acting can be somewhat exhausting. If it’s optional for you, why not focus on your studies and get your diploma first?" Constantine suggested with a faint smile.

Constantine privately didn’t want her to act. Spring was the season for making babies, not movies! Getting married and having children made more sense to him. Yet, he couldn’t forbid her from acting outright; Chloe had a rebellious streak, and when stubborn, you had to coax that little temper of hers.

Upon hearing his suggestion, Chloe realized she only had half a year left until graduation. However, she had missed so many classes previously. The department had been lenient, but the graduation season was busy, requiring frequent visits to the university, so she hesitated for a moment.

Kyla Zamora observed this enigmatic Mr. Stewart, whose smile was more painful than crying; forbidding the young lady from acting now clearly spelled trouble after marriage. Mr. Stewart appeared to be someone with a strong desire for control, wasn’t it obvious?

"Ah Chu, I brought a few good scripts for you today. Take a look; if you find any you like, let me know. Right now, you’re at the height of your career. Doing more projects and winning more awards can earn you more money; even after marriage, you’ll hold your ground in the family," Kyla said earnestly. Were it not for Constantine’s presence, she might have pointed out how essential it was for a woman to be financially independent, especially with the Stewart Family dynamics. Without status, it wouldn’t be easy later.

Constantine squinted slightly as he listened, his handsome face revealing no expression, casually smiling, "For now, it’s just me and Chloe who’ll manage the household. Ms. Kyla, no need to worry."

Kyla was silenced by his retort, her smile becoming increasingly stiff. From her dealings with such dynasties, she understood that the haughty scions from Southeast Asia were cold outside and unapproachable, warning people off directly. But this Mr. Stewart from the Imperial City was the typical smiling tiger with intricate thoughts. Kyla believed Chloe would undoubtedly be wrapped around his finger.

Chloe pinched Constantine, glaring at him with some dissatisfaction, and then smiled at Kyla, "I’ll think about it, sis. If I find a suitable script, I’ll do it, but not taking any endorsement deals—is that okay with you?"

"Fine, fine, as long as you prioritize your career," Kyla agreed with a broad smile and a nod.

"I’ll take a look at these scripts. Kyla, why don’t you stay for dinner tonight?"

"No, I have a meeting tonight. You get some good rest at home," Kyla said, satisfied with her accomplishments, and left eagerly.

"You’re so mean! That’s my agent," Chloe scolded, seeing Kyla leave in haste without even finishing her tea, and pinching Constantine’s soft flesh at his waist.

The man was so muscular that it hurt her hand to pinch him.

"Watch out, it might hurt," Constantine chuckled upon seeing this, gathering her into his arms and gently consoling, "What I said is the truth. In the future, you’ll be in charge, with no need to cater to others. Plus, there won’t be any nasty mothers-in-law at home, right?"

Constantine hadn’t counted his own mother in; anyway, Countess Thompson had remarried and had no hold over him.

The man’s strong arms wrapped around her, his masculine scent engulfing her, making Chloe feel a bit sore all over as she sat on his lap and glared at him. She hadn’t even agreed to remarry him yet, and he was already speaking about mother-in-law issues—dreaming much?

Also, what’s with his behavior, always getting all handsy?

"Tonight, separate rooms. I’ll see how you behave, and don’t speak to my agent like that anymore," Chloe grumbled, watching Constantine’s reaction. Previously, she was constantly suppressed by him; she felt she should at least aim for equal footing in the future.

Holding her soft body, his deep, ink-black eyes looked at the young girl’s delicate white face, making his heart melt completely. He couldn’t dare object, his sexy jaw brushing against her cheek, he murmured lowly, "Alright, you’re the boss."

Seeing her no longer angry, the man gently ruffled her soft hair and asked, "Do you need to report back to school when the semester starts?"

"Yes, but there are no more classes. Everyone is either preparing for grad school or busy with graduation projects. My graduation project has been submitted, just waiting to graduate," Chloe replied, somewhat smugly. She was, after all, a top student.

"Darling, you’re amazing," Constantine smiled lightly, bending down to kiss her, contemplating that it was for the best she had no classes to attend. He planned to ’advise’ her agent not to constantly bring her scripts to read.

With all the kisses and praises from him, Chloe’s cheeks flushed lightly, thinking how much he had changed since before—never having praised her previously, always just controlling her. Though she had enjoyed his dominance, she quite liked this new change.

The man certainly knew no restraint. Chloe shifted slightly, moving to get up to check the scripts when she felt his body tense, his breath turning heavier.

Chloe: "..."

"What do you need? I’ll get it for you," Constantine, unashamed, kept her soft body in his arms, speaking in a low voice. A man in front of the woman he loves shouldn’t restrain his feelings! Besides, he had been holding back for so long. Most would have been spent by now, so he should practice while he could.

"Just keep your distance," Chloe gritted her teeth.

"Okay," Constantine replied nonchalantly and indeed let her go.

The past few days had been too intense; Chloe’s body couldn’t take it. He could hardly control himself any longer. They’d sleep in separate rooms.

After dinner, Chloe took her scripts and returned to her room. Constantine glanced at his assistant’s schedule, noting that there was a board meeting at headquarters in Paris at the start of the year—attendance was mandatory.

The Stewart Family empire, mainly left to him by his grandfather, involved shares from other branches. Plus, he had been living in the Imperial City for so long that absence from the board meeting could stir thoughts among other branches. Constantine contemplated that this year he might as well take Chloe along to familiarize with assets, see the sights, ideally planning to remarry in Paris, settling everything at once.
