Chapter 1521 - 1508: Mr. Ji’s Services in the Imperial City Are Undoubtedly Top-Notch

"How expensive is it?" Chloe Winston was hugged tightly in the man’s arms, blinking her eyes, and asked softly.

Constantine Stewart felt like he was getting lost in her big watery eyes, his breath slightly heavy, as he leaned down to kiss her eyes, hoarsely saying, "Very expensive, very expensive. The service of Mr. Stewart of the Imperial City is absolutely top-notch."

Shameless! Chloe internally criticized. Her skin was tender and she had just cried; when he kissed her eyes, she felt a sting, and while dodging, she laughed, "Constantine Stewart, you charge for cooking, but I haven’t even charged you for accommodation yet?"

"Charge for accommodation?" The man paused, squinting dangerously, and slowly said, "I thought in this matter, the one who is more hard-working is me, hmm?"

The man’s gaze burned into her with enough intensity to ignite a small woodland, their bodies pressed tightly together. Despite the layers of winter clothing, Chloe, being thin-skinned, pushed him away, and said like a little kitten, "I’m really hungry. If you don’t cook, I’ll cook for myself."

She was about to get up as she spoke.

Constantine took a deep breath, suppressing his rolling desire, held her body down, and said in a deep voice, "I’ll cook. You go apply something to your eyes, or else if you cry again tonight, your eyes will swell up like walnuts by tomorrow."

Such a blatant hint! Chloe glared at him fiercely, which lacked any deterrence and instead seemed like she was acting cute, provoking a low, pleasant laugh from the man.

Constantine kissed the sweet red lips of the little girl, then got up to cook.

Dinner wasn’t handled casually; Constantine found ingredients from the fridge that both he and Chloe liked, then changed into home clothes, rolled up his sleeves, and cooked seriously.

For the two of them, the man made three dishes and a soup. Chloe didn’t like vegetables and was a typical foodie; she loved anything meat and wasn’t picky at all. Constantine thought maybe she had eaten too poorly when she was young, leading her to only have a pursuit for food and not care much about anything else.

Constantine, who had eaten all kinds of delicacies, was very picky; ordinary food could not satisfy him. Seeing the Howard brothers brought venison on the first day, which was deer meat, he planned to cook a spicy stir-fried venison pot that night, steam a plate of sausages, make a beef hot pot, and also wash some fresh spinach and cilantro.

Chloe came over to help him, and seeing Constantine simmering the beef hot pot on low heat, she almost drooled and asked, "How can you even make hot pot? Is that pickled vegetable in the beef?"

"Yes, I specially had the butler send a bit over." Constantine added chili sauce and simmered on low heat. With many chefs at home, they could cook almost anything. The pickled vegetable in the beef hot pot had a unique flavor. Constantine only tasted the so-called pickled vegetable when he came back to the country, and found it amazing, so every year, he’d have the chef marinate some unique flavors from the countryside.

Seeing the simmering beef soup rolling and the red color alongside the salty taste of pickled vegetables and the spicy fresh aroma of chili sauce, Chloe suddenly felt even hungrier.

"You never cooked before. I thought you only knew how to eat." Chloe intended to praise him but thought she shouldn’t make it too obvious. This man’s history was too poor, with a lot of past transgressions; so the words that came out were like that.

Constantine smiled helplessly, shook his head, and said, "Mainly because the food I cook is so delicious that I’m afraid you’d fall in love with my cooking skills and pester me to cook every day."

Chloe: "..."

Seeing her cute muttering expression, Constantine couldn’t help but laugh and went to check the braised venison, seeing it was already tender and falling apart.

As soon as he lifted the lid, a delicious aroma wafted out. Chloe quickly widened her eyes, moved closer, and exclaimed, "It looks delicious, how did you make this?"

"Venison is quite nourishing in winter. The traditional braised venison involves deep frying first, then stewing on low heat, and finally high heat to thicken the sauce. But tonight we’re having stir-fried venison pot, so I modified the method, stewing tea tree mushrooms with the venison until tender. You go wash your hands, and dinner will be ready soon." Constantine said, as he ladled the venison into the pot and brought it to the dining table, along with the beef hot pot.

Chloe rushed to wash her hands, then went to get bowls and plates to serve the rice. Both of these main dishes were perfect with rice; she could eat two large bowls of rice at night.

"Let me." The man saw her holding bowls, her big eyes blinking, her little face tender, looking like a pitiable little food-seeking kitten and realized just how much he had gone around in circles. If he had known he could win Chloe so perfectly with food, why did he break his leg, or follow the crew through rain and wind to keep her warm for three months? He should’ve just cooked for her!

What a waste. And he wasted so much time. Constantine looked down, a dark glint flashing in his eyes, deciding that keeping two chefs at home would be enough, and the rest would have to go, because he would be cooking himself!

"There’s one more dish, it’s steamed sausage, said to be the Howard Family matriarch’s special recipe. The old lady likes sausages, makes a lot every year, and only gives some to those she’s close to." Constantine said as he turned off the heat, donned gloves, took out the steamed sausages, and, taking a clean chef’s knife, sliced them into even pieces, then prepared two small plates and mixed his special sauce.

Chloe noticed that the steamed sausage was indeed different from what she had eaten before. The sausages she used to eat were irresistibly delicious, but the ones made by the Howard Family matriarch had a translucent outer layer, a thin golden middle layer, and an appetizing red inside. A sausage with three layers of color made her feel like crying, from desire.

"How is this made?"

Chloe quickly brought the sausages to the dining room, then saw the man bring bowls, plates, and chopsticks over, serving her a bowl of rice, and said with a smile, "Try it and see what you can taste?"

Chloe quickly picked up a piece of sausage, ignoring the dip for the sauce, and took a bite. The taste was indescribably fresh, with a bit of spice and salt. The meat filling wasn’t the traditional pork, and crucially, it felt refreshing without being greasy. Normally, eating too much cured meat would be greasy, but this sausage wasn’t.

After finishing a piece in one bite, Chloe nodded repeatedly, "Delicious, delicious. I think the meat inside is really fresh, it’s not pork, right?"

Constantine unhurriedly picked up a piece, dipped it in sauce, tasted it, and said, "The flavor is indeed good. They must have put many ingredients in. Do you like it?"

Without blinking, Chloe nodded.

Constantine curled his lips into a faint smile, saying, "Great, then I’ll visit the Howard Family soon to learn this dish."
