the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart
Chapter 1493 - 1483: This Is Your Parents’ Information
Constantine Stewart noticed the young lady coming downstairs; he paused slightly with the watering can in hand, then placed it on a shelf nearby. He turned slightly, standing in the twilight with a gentle smile directed towards her, and promptly ended the call.
The man’s complexion was extremely fair, not the currently popular bronzed skin. His features were handsome, his eyes shaped like a sleeping phoenix softened the coldness of his expression, he appeared lazy yet enigmatic.
Chloe Winston saw him standing in the small garden smiling at her; his expression was gentle and elegant, resembling a warm and steady nobleman. She paused for a moment, and a thought flashed through her mind. It turned out he could smile so brightly, as if no shadow had ever touched his heart.
"You’ve had a poor appetite lately, so I asked the kitchen to prepare Zhejiang dishes and sweet soup for you," Constantine Stewart entered the living room, casually placed his phone on the table, and said in a low voice.
Constantine Stewart didn’t like cooking but also didn’t want the house servants to come and cook. Deep down, he hoped that only the two of them lived in this small house, so the meals were prepared from over by Fulham Road and sent over, which was quite time-consuming and labor-intensive.
Chloe Winston sat down, looking at a table full of sweet foods and a large bowl of fruit sweet soup, scooped a bowl of sweet soup, and began to eat earnestly.
The strands of sweetness, along with the fruit’s crisp fragrance, opened up her appetite. She ate seriously, then suddenly felt a bit sad, knowing full well how kind Constantine Stewart had been to her during this time.
Even after following the crew for several months, he restrained his physical desires, disguising their relationship as mere friends. He was so restrained, beyond what she had imagined.
"Don’t go to my film crew anymore," she looked up, her voice raspy.
Constantine Stewart looked at her earnest little face, and said thoughtfully: "Once you come to terms with the impact of your family history, I won’t go again."
Recently, amid turmoil, along with many incidents occurring, Constantine Stewart also realized he was being somewhat overbearing, causing her to feel suffocated.
The man lowered his eyes, his slender, strong fingers unintentionally pressing down on the dining table with slight force, restraining himself a bit more.
"I’m alright now. I hope you can tell me where my parents’ gravestones are; I want to pay my respects."
Constantine Stewart’s gaze deepened; where could the Winston Family parents have gravestones? After the cremation, the ashes were left unclaimed, unburied. Perhaps they dispersed into rivers or scattered into the world with the wind; none of those implicated were able to leave behind inscriptions or monuments.
"I inquired; their ashes were scattered in rivers. If you want to pay respects, you can do so by the great rivers; as in life, the light extinguishes at death, and we too shall pass," the man said faintly.
He had truly considered living alone in the past, without descendants; dying, he would leave freely. Constantine Stewart valued familial bonds in this world very lightly.
Upon hearing this, Chloe Winston couldn’t hold back the tears, which dropped onto the dining table. She hastily wiped them away with her hand, then lowered her eyes and said, "Write down their names for me. People cannot forget their roots; every Qingming Festival and Winter Solstice, I must pay respects."
"Wait a moment," Constantine Stewart stood up, took a file folder from his briefcase, handed it to her, and said with a deep, compassionate gaze, "This is the information and photographs, consider it a way to hold memories, but your family history mustn’t be told to anyone."
Chloe Winston took the file folder, retrieved the documents inside, looked at her long-unseen parents, tremblingly touched their photographs, then cautiously held the file folder close to her chest near the heart.
This was her father and mother.
