the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1487 - 1477: Is There Any Part of Your Body I Haven’t Seen?

  • Next Chapter

Constantine Stewart no longer remembers how many years it has been since he last spoke with his mother. Ever since his father’s death, their mother-son bond was forcibly severed.

"Did you tell Chloe about her background? What exactly did you say?" The man’s voice was cold, devoid of any emotion.

The Countess’s joy instantly plummeted when she received the call. Concealing her disappointment, she softly replied, "I only mentioned how her family was implicated in that old case. I didn’t say anything else."

A hint of anger surfaced across Constantine Stewart’s face as he sneered coldly, "You are indeed cold-blooded by nature. You knew her background would be a devastating blow to her, yet you told her anyway for your own purposes. Isn’t your purpose simply to seek my forgiveness? I tell you, I will never forgive you in this lifetime."

The Countess’s face turned pale, her eyes reddened slightly, and her voice took on a raspy tone as she tried to maintain her composure, "I understand you want to protect her, but she’s a strong girl. This is her choice, and you should try to trust her."

"Stop looking for her and go back to France," Constantine Stewart said coldly, then hung up the call.

The Countess listened to the dial tone, unable to recover from the shock for a long time.

"Madam, Miss Law is here. Do you wish to see her?" her personal assistant approached and asked in a low voice.

"Tell her I went out to visit friends," the Countess instantly regained her composure, speaking coldly, "Arrange for someone to follow her, and report any actions promptly."

Rita Law was a scheming woman who seemed gentle and harmless but was actually highly manipulative. By cutting off her avenues, the mother and son knew Rita Law would retaliate once her façade crumbled.

Chloe Winston woke up midway through the evening. Constantine Stewart had been by her side continuously, feeding her meals, providing water, and filling up a bathtub with hot water, even offering to bathe her.

She just didn’t want to think, not indicating she was confused, as she closed the bathroom door on her own and sat dazed in the bathtub.

Zheng Gu came in and out, and even with the volume turned low, she could still hear Constantine Stewart’s instructions.

"Chloe, I placed a bathrobe and lingerie on the shelf outside, along with a bath towel. I’ll go downstairs to do the dishes. Remember to come out in ten minutes. If you soak too long, your skin will wrinkle." The man knocked on the door, listened carefully, and hearing no movement inside, assumed she was still lost in thought before heading downstairs.

Chloe Winston closed her eyes, fully submerged in the bathtub, unaware of what to do next.

Her background wasn’t honorable, and there’s no secret that remains hidden forever. These matters would be exposed sooner or later, and even if left undiscovered by others, the unease inside her remained intense.

Her desire to quit the Entertainment Sector grew stronger by the day.

The waters of the Imperial City ran too deep, swallowing up her entire family. She didn’t even know who her ancestors were or where her parents were buried, and suddenly, she grew tired of all this flashy turmoil.

Once she was done with everything in the Imperial City, she wanted to find a peaceful, scenic place to live a quiet life.

While Chloe Winston was lost in thought, Constantine Stewart knocked on the door from outside, calling softly, "Chloe, you need to come out now."

Chloe responded softly, then climbed out of the bathtub but accidentally knocked against its edge, scattering bathing products all over.

She cried out softly in pain, and the bathroom door was opened by the man.

"What’s wrong?" Constantine Stewart asked urgently upon entering, witnessing the beauty stepping out of the bath. Her smooth, pristine leg hit the edge of the tub, causing pain, making her half-lie atop it entirely unclothed, an alluring sight that left him parched and breathing heavier.

Chloe Winston retreated into the tub, glaring at him with red eyes, too pained to speak.

Constantine Stewart grabbed a bath towel, and under her wary gaze, approached and wrapped her up, lifting her while hoarsely saying, "Which part of you haven’t I seen, hmm?"

The man’s body was tense as he carried her to the bedroom, placing her into the covers before turning to fetch a bathrobe and lingerie, and offered darkly, "Need me to help put your clothes on too?"

Chloe Winston burrowed into the covers, donned the bathrobe and lingerie herself, uninterested in engaging with him, continuing to daze off.

Looking at her, behaving like a three-year-old, saying nothing, Constantine Stewart understood the profound impact and shock of her background revelation, unsure how long it would last. He was concerned yet delighted, worried it would drastically change her personality, but pleased she didn’t resist his proximity. It was as if her senses were shut down; barring some bottom-line matters, she would do whatever he said, as docile as a newborn kitten.

"Tomorrow, I’ll take you to the film set," Constantine Stewart remembered she had to start filming the next day. He thought it was necessary; maybe she’d return to normal.

Chloe Winston showed no response, closed her eyes, and curled up under the covers.

"Your hair isn’t dry. You can’t sleep yet," Constantine Stewart took a dry towel, starting to gently dry her hair manually, fearing the blow-dryer’s noise might bother her.

Her hair was soft and fine, the popular belief being that people with soft hair have soft hearts. Constantine Stewart diligently dried her hair, noticing her pale skin was blindingly beautiful. Unable to control himself, he gently kissed her neck, light-handedly at first, and seeing no reaction, he kissed her again with slightly dimmed eyes.

Perhaps his hair drying was just too gentle, and Chloe Winston eventually drifted off to sleep as her hair dried. The man noticed several love marks he had left on her neck, finally standing to take a shower, chuckling at how Chloe Winston had become like a three-year-old child. Ultimately, he decided to sleep in the master bedroom in case she needed anything overnight.

The man had the most restful sleep he’d had in a year, with the girl in his arms behaving well and causing no trouble throughout the night.

Early the next morning, as the assistant, Autumn, carrying breakfast, arrived at Spring Prosperity Garden, she encountered Zheng Gu also with breakfast in hand.

"What are you doing here?" Autumn, still wary of Zheng Gu, asked. The last time, he had tricked her into a room, locked her in for a whole night without her phone. Autumn hadn’t managed a good face for him since.

"I’m bringing breakfast for Mr. Stewart and Miss Winston. Autumn, why are you here?" Zheng Gu asked, seeing the little assistant treating him as if an enemy, feeling helpless as he was merely following Mr. Stewart’s orders. If there was any objection, they should be directed at Mr. Stewart instead.

"Sister Chloe is going to the film set today, I’m her assistant, of course, I needed to come. What she eats, wears, what jewelry she takes, these are all my responsibilities," Autumn sneered, "Why does your Mr. Stewart keep clinging to our Sister Chloe?"

"You can ask Mr. Stewart directly," Zheng Gu smiled, entering the door.

"Ask I will, who’s afraid of who," Autumn said defiantly, and stepped inside to see the normally composed, distinguished man with mussed hair, descending the stairs in slippers.

The man spoke in a deep, displeased tone, "What is it? Chloe’s still asleep. If there’s any noise, you’ll all be thrown out."
