the two-faced Adopted Girl Who Melted CEO's Ice-Cold Heart

Chapter 1474 - 1464: I’m Afraid I’ll Fall Into the Lake Halfway

Chloe Winston was completely stunned, give Constantine Stewart a home? Does a person as powerful as Constantine Stewart, who stands at the top of the pyramid, need her to give him a home?

"I don’t pity you." Chloe suddenly closed her mouth, swallowing the last half of her sentence; she didn’t have the capacity to give him a home either.

"If you want, you can build a family with any woman who likes you, then you would have a home." Chloe looked at his refined, handsome face. For some reason, her heart slightly contracted as she said this, even though this man is capricious, a playboy with a volatile temper. She had once been infatuated with him. If one day Constantine Stewart were to reorganize a family, she would probably leave the Imperial City and never return.

"Does that include you?" Constantine lifted his slender phoenix-shaped eyes slightly, with a natural hint of a smile as he asked. Apart from her, he didn’t want to build a family with any woman he didn’t know, wasn’t familiar with, or interested in.

Chloe felt choked, thinking that pitying Constantine Stewart was practically asking for trouble. Even though Constantine had gone through such a dark childhood, he lived more powerfully than most people.

"After dinner, you wash the dishes." She stood up, leaving a sentence behind, expressionlessly going upstairs to take a bath. She had been busy in the small garden all afternoon, and it felt uncomfortable not to bathe.

Mr. Stewart, who was sent to wash dishes, was stunned, wash dishes? He hadn’t done housework in years, hadn’t he earned a lot of money to avoid such chores?

But in order to successfully stay over for the night, Constantine obediently went to the kitchen and washed the dishes, using half a bottle of hand soap afterwards.

Soon night fell, and gentle streetlights lit up throughout the community, especially the dazzling lights over at Azure Lake.

Seeing how lively it was around the lake, Constantine mused while stroking his chin, should he go for a walk after dinner?

"Chloe, it seems very lively by the lake, I want to go for a walk." Constantine went upstairs, knocking on the door.

Chloe couldn’t be bothered with him at first, just focused on drying her wet hair. Yet the man patiently knocked on the door, approximately every ten seconds. It aggravated Chloe to the point she opened the door, glaring, "What exactly do you want?"

The girl was burning with anger, yet having just bathed, she exuded a sweet, refreshing scent. Flames seemed to smolder in her eyes, astonishingly beautiful. Mr. Stewart, momentarily taken aback, his breath caught, his sexy Adam’s apple bobbed up and down, then with downcast eyes, he said dejectedly, "I just want to go for a walk."

"Then go." Chloe incredulously widened her eyes at him, she hadn’t tied him up, besides, when had Constantine Stewart needed to report to her about his plans? Was he still not sober from being drunk? "Are you still not fully sober?"

A sober Constantine Stewart wouldn’t have such an expression; this man’s pride was such that even his tail could curl towards the sky.

Constantine’s eyes flickered slightly, he seemed indeed not to have fully sobered up, otherwise why did every extra minute spent with her make him feel she was cuter than the last?

"Well, I’m afraid I might fall into the lake halfway, I want you to come along." The man spoke without a blush, without a heartbeat skip, his gaze fell from her half-dry hair downwards, stopping at her snow-white heaving chest, then a soft cough escaped him, his slender fingers unconsciously clenching behind his back, hoarsely he suggested, "Take a half-hour walk, and your hair should be dry by then."

Since moving in, Chloe had never gone out for an evening walk around the neighborhood, she hadn’t even played by the Azure Lake across the way; she only gazed at it fleetingly on getting up in the morning, as Constantine said, loneliness is a disease, also a poison, she didn’t wish to go out when alone.

"Let’s walk for half an hour then." Chloe hesitantly said, going back to grab her phone.

The two walked towards the lakeside along the cobblestone path, it was autumn, and after dinner, several families were also out for a stroll, although no one knew each other, it didn’t hinder them from nodding and smiling, exchanging a greeting.

"That girl looks like a recently very popular celebrity."

"At this age, still star-chasing, I thought that young man next to her looked familiar."

"You mean that handsome young guy? He does look familiar, like I’ve seen him somewhere before."

The conversation snippets carried on the breeze reached Chloe, making her cheeks slightly warm; being a celebrity had its downside, limited privacy.

Constantine walked beside her silently, but the man was striking, tall and handsome, wearing loose loungewear, so much so that he drew attention all the way.

Chloe felt somewhat pressured walking alongside him, so she fell a step behind, and quietly fiddled with her phone.

She hadn’t checked her phone all day, opening WeChat revealed a flood of messages, mostly from the just-wrapped Hidden Abyss crew, frantically tagging her.

Chloe skimmed through them, all discussing Richard Shaw’s marriage, Desmond Wood even privately messaged her some gossip, then there was a message from Charles Taylor, he wanted to meet up to discuss a contract relationship.

Chloe agreed, replying to Charles, then proceeded to respond to other messages one by one, simply deleting group messages without reading, then seeing two earlier text messages.

One was from a peculiar number, international, entirely written in French. Constantine often slipped into French in daily conversation, so Chloe half researched, half guessed what the sender meant, understanding that the person wanted to meet her for coffee, specifying time and place.

Chloe felt slightly frustrated, this was clearly Constantine’s mother. The Stewart family mother and son operated in such a similar manner, domineering without leaving room for refusal, she never thought the other would obtain her number and ask her out for coffee.

She furrowed her brows, and then saw a message from Laura Yi: "Chloe, I accidentally left my Jade Pendant at the Fulham Road villa last time, can I come over tomorrow to find it?"

Chloe reached to touch the Jade Pendant she had made into a bracelet, she didn’t reply to either message.

Laura Yi really thinks everyone else is a fool? Searching for a Jade Pendant is false, coming with Constantine’s mother to the villa is true. In terms of underhanded tricks, she indeed admired Laura.

Engrossed in her phone, she didn’t notice the man leading the way had stopped. She bumped straight into him.

Constantine reached out to steady her, mildly displeased, "Chloe Winston, I have a feeling if I fall into the lake, you’ll follow, you’ve been glued to your phone the whole way."

Chloe quickly put away her phone, patting her nose, innocently glaring at him, then said, "I was reading a text, your mom invited me for coffee, and Laura Yi wants to come to the villa for you."

Constantine’s lips twitched, feeling somewhat guilty, well, tomorrow he’d take care of these issues.
