Chapter 1184: Chapter 1211: Is It a Beautiful Dream? (3)

Max Turner and Mila Davis had always put Cherry Lewis’s wishes first. Troy River and Chloe Smith were very satisfied with their future daughter?in?law, and because Camden River had been hurt because of her, they still felt guilty. All the way back they paid close attention to Cherry, fussing over her, asking after her, taking meticulous care of her, practically treating her as their own daughter.

Cherry was different from Windsor Myres, and even from Rosy Harris.

Windsor had never known how to get along with elders since she was little; all that respect?your-teachers-and-elders stuff basically didn’t exist for her. Rosy was very polite, and although she behaved perfectly in front of Chloe Smith, there was ultimately a deliberate, calculated element in it. When you came down to it, it couldn’t naturally feel like one family.

But Cherry wasn’t like that.

Her cowardice and low self?esteem existed only in the realm of love.

Or rather—

As long as it had to do with Camden River, she would subconsciously place herself very, very low.

She was very likable to both elders and children.

The national civil service exam was at the end of November; she and Camden could only stay in Riverside for a few days. On the 28th, everyone arrived home. On the morning of the 29th, the uncles and elders of the River Family and the Turner Family had a meal together and formally arranged the engagement for the two of them.

Immediately after, Camden River and Cherry Lewis went to the local civil affairs bureau and got their marriage license.

They hadn’t graduated yet. After discussing it, Max Turner and Troy River decided to postpone their wedding; in another two years, once their careers were stable, they would hold it.

But—

Even so, the pace already felt extremely fast.

After Camden River and Cherry Lewis got their marriage license, it was afternoon. He drove Cherry home.

The whole thing felt like a dream.

Ever since the moment she was discharged from the hospital, Cherry had been in a bit of a daze, her feet on the ground as if she were still floating in midair. Whether it was Camden, or Camden’s parents, or even his relatives, the kindness they showed her was completely beyond anything she had imagined.

Cherry turned her head and glanced at Camden River.

He was driving, both hands on the wheel, expression focused, eyes on the road. His profile was especially handsome and fair; she took one look, and her gaze couldn’t seem to move away, sticking to his face.

Camden naturally noticed. He slowly turned his head. "What is it?"

"It feels like I’m dreaming." Cherry gave a little smile.

The corners of her lips curved; there was a touch of infatuation and a touch of self?mockery in her expression. Those four words seemed to slip out without any thought.

Camden paused for a second, then withdrew his gaze and said softly, "Is it a good dream?"

Cherry pressed her lips together and looked at him, not answering.

In her line of sight, the thin corners of Camden’s lips also curved. He seemed to be smiling; she didn’t know if he was laughing at how silly she was. The more she looked, the more self?conscious she felt. Her voice dropped. "Mm."

Just that one word delighted Camden River.

Indeed—

In that moment when he proposed in the hospital room, Camden had acted on impulse.

Impulsive, yet resolute.

He had already prepared himself to treat Cherry well for the rest of his life, but he hadn’t planned on putting any more emotion into it. When he thought about it, that was a pretty exhausting thing—but he felt that nothing could be more draining than being with Windsor Myres.

By comparison, he would rather accept a life with no more waves.

But—

In fact, things weren’t as bad as he had imagined.

Max Turner and Mila Davis were extremely warm and kindly elders, and all the relatives on the Turner side were the same. One by one they had kind, gentle faces—the sort of family you could tell at a glance would be easy to get along with. Riverside was only so big; when the two families met, some of the elders even already knew each other, and they got along famously.

The ease of this atmosphere was the complete opposite of what he felt when facing Cherry Lewis.
