Chapter 1152: Chapter 1179: Maeve Is Sick (3)

But—

Just like her mother, no matter how unhappy she was inside, she always wore a smile.

He usually had a lot to deal with, and with Madison Leaf preparing to go abroad recently, he was too busy. Sometimes he could only come home every few days, and as a result, he neglected her a bit. He felt deeply guilty upon hearing about her illness.

As Louis Cox walked towards the hospital ward, he was lost in thought.

The little girl was born as the Myres Family’s little princess, showered with love.

Unlike other kids who started kindergarten at the age of two or three, she was pampered to the heavens by Cesar Myres, carefree and only concerned with playing at four or five, so lazy she even refused to walk and preferred to be carried. When he often visited the Myres Family, eight out of ten times, he found this girl sitting on Cesar’s shoulders, and at the most exaggerated times, she sat on her father’s back, treating him like a horse to ride.

His brother-in-law was quite old, trembling when speaking, yet she wasn’t afraid of him.

Her haughty manner even surpassed Ivy Cox’s.

However—

Thinking about her situation after the incident at the Myres Family, Louis Cox just felt heartache.

As her uncle, he was incapable of protecting her comprehensively, leaving her with Caiden Ward for more than two years. ℴℴ𝗺

Though Caiden Ward treated her exceedingly well, it still created numerous problems. The current Maeve has lost her previous unchecked and capricious nature, and thinking about it always distressed him.

With mixed feelings, Louis Cox entered the ward.

Maeve hadn’t awakened yet, lying flat on the bed with an IV in the back of her hand.

Her homeroom teacher was sitting by the side, perhaps out of boredom, watching gossip news on the room’s TV, albeit with low volume to avoid disturbing the girl’s rest.

"Mr. Cox." Upon seeing him come in, the young female homeroom teacher hurriedly stood up.

Louis Cox nodded and said, "Thank you for your trouble."

"No trouble at all," Maeve’s homeroom teacher, who wasn’t married yet, blushed upon seeing his handsome face and said embarrassingly, "I only discovered the child’s fever was nearly forty degrees too late, which is really our fault as teachers. Fortunately, the hospital is not far from school, so I didn’t take her to the school clinic. The school clinic’s equipment is simple, and I was afraid it might delay her treatment."

"I understand, thank you," Louis Cox immediately added, "I’ll take care of her from now on, and I’ll have someone send you back."

"No need, no need," the homeroom teacher quickly waved her hand, "You take care of Maeve, I can easily take a cab back, no trouble at all, it would be embarrassing for you to bother anymore."

Louis Cox smiled and didn’t persist.

The homeroom teacher breathed a sigh of relief and turned to leave.

Wherever the member of the Cox Family went, they always had bodyguards, and those bodyguards were extremely cold and intimidating. She preferred not to trouble them and could just take a cab.

As the homeroom teacher disappeared from sight, the two bodyguards naturally stood at the door to guard, while Louis Cox pulled a chair to sit in front of Maeve, slowing down the IV drip slightly, and looked softly at Maeve’s face.

The little girl seemed to have slimmed down, her delicate little face no longer had that pudgy look, appearing youthful and pristine.

She was certainly going to grow into a beauty, just like her mother.

Perhaps because of the gloomy weather, Louis Cox was really not in a good mood today, easily reminded of Ivy Cox.

He quietly sat in the chair, gazing at Maeve’s face that resembled Ivy’s, and listened to the "tick-tock, tick-tock" of the IV drip. It seemed like a long time had passed, and eventually, Maeve opened her eyes.

Louis Cox breathed a sigh of relief and caringly asked, "Awake?"

Maeve looked at him with wide eyes, her expression innocent yet confused, very unusual.
