Chapter 1102: Chapter 1129: He’s My Husband (5)

"Can’t envy you, haha," another saleslady joked with her.

The previous saleslady could only sigh.

Camden River had already left the store.

He carried everything in one hand and walked back with a calm expression.

As he walked, he suddenly thought of a small story.

In ancient times, there was a high-ranking official who rode in a sedan chair on a rainy day. The usually stable chair felt off. He opened the curtain to inquire, only to find that the sedan bearers were wearing new shoes. Afraid of splashing water on them, they tiptoed, which caused the chair to wobble. Eventually, in such rainy weather, it was inevitable to get the shoes wet. Soon enough, one of them stepped into a puddle, and with the shoes dirty, it didn’t matter anymore. They just walked as they should.

He felt like the bearer.

The burden on his shoulders, impossible to shake off.

Meanwhile, the weather, such as the rainy day, he couldn’t avoid. He couldn’t discard Windsor Myres, the beautiful shoes now splattered with mud. He could only wear these wet shoes, bear his load, and keep walking in the rain.

Perhaps, as he walked, the skies would clear, the shoes would dry, and the burden could be laid down.

But—

When would that day come?

He didn’t know, he could only hope.

After all, when imagining, there will always be such a day, it’s just a matter of time.

——

There was a bit of rain at night.

On Monday, the weather finally cooled a little.

Mia Ginger took Koa Jackson’s car and arrived outside the TV station’s office building, swiping her card to enter.

She had called ahead and knew Phillip Hanson wasn’t on a news run that day, so she thought to come and discuss her upcoming internship.

Phillip was sitting at his seat, and when he saw her, he smiled and said, "So early?"

"Aren’t you even earlier?" Mia also smiled.

Phillip sighed, "I didn’t go home last night."

"So hard on you." Mia sat in the seat next to him and asked, "Am I interrupting your rest? You have noticeable dark circles. Maybe I should come another day?"

"No need." Phillip smiled, "I’ve got to get a draft done in the morning; I’ll rest in the afternoon."

"As long as I’m not bothering you." Mia relaxed a bit, then continued, "Our school requires a three-month internship, and I need to submit internship work and a three-month internship journal for credit. It’s non-negotiable. What do you think I should do?"

Phillip thought for a moment, pondering, "Changing positions is one option. But in this TV station environment, everything requires computers. Over time, that won’t work. Aren’t you radio and TV directing majors? Maybe take a side role in a crew, or spend two months in a regular unit’s marketing department?"

"I see." Mia sighed helplessly.

After much deliberation, she had only come up with such a solution herself.

But—

She couldn’t get over it in her heart, always feeling like it was just a way to cope.

Okay, she was indeed coping, and she didn’t want to just get by.

She furrowed her brows tightly, and seeing her troubled expression, Phillip suddenly asked, "Are you interested in being a host?"

"Huh?" Mia was taken aback, "I’ve never thought about it."

"Here’s the thing," Phillip straightened up and said to her, "Your appearance and demeanor as a journalist are a bit of a waste, rushing around in all kinds of weather; it’s tough. Being a host is nice, speaking on behalf of reporters, also looking glamorous. Girls generally prefer this. Didn’t you notice, among our three reporter groups, girls only make up a third?"
