Chapter 1089: Chapter 1116: I’m Pregnant (4)

Mia Ginger finished organizing the draft and handed it over to Phillip Hanson for the final decision-making. After all, the evening news is only thirty minutes long, and social news takes up roughly one-third of that time. Their social news department has three teams with a total of dozens of people.

Like the website, both editors and reporters are subject to a last-place elimination system, so the amount of published articles is crucial.

Sometimes, even after running around for several days and writing up news drafts, they might not get used. Once the timeliness passes, they instantly become obsolete, like drawing water with a bamboo basket.

Moreover, even when news is adopted, it might just be briefly mentioned with a few words. All the substantial early work and precise information collected, in the end, is actually quite limited. Conciseness and punch are essential, and certainly test one’s abilities.

Once Phillip Hanson sent the draft for review, Mia Ginger finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat down at her desk to rest and wait for off-duty time.

The other two naturally relaxed as well. Phillip Hanson glanced at Camden River and joked, "I’ve got a piece of good news and a piece of bad news, which do you want to hear?"

"Sweet after bitter, bad news first." Mia Ginger laughed heartily.

Phillip Hanson looked distressed and said, "The bad news is that Camden River might be leaving us soon."

"Huh?" The two were equally stunned.

Phillip Hanson continued with a smile, "The good news is that you might be getting an early confirmation. I just ran into Teacher Anders from the News Commentary Department. He seemed interested in borrowing you for their investigation unit; they’re short-staffed."

"Wow." Mia Ginger exclaimed and instinctively glanced at Camden River.

The investigation Phillip Hanson mentioned is a news investigation program, very deep and full of critique. It’s part of the News Commentary Department. Its team is considered top-notch in the entire news center, so getting the opportunity to transfer over would be a great move.

Especially—

Several episodes of the show earlier this year caused national sensations, exposing the dark side of society that was truly shocking.

Quite fitting for Camden River’s life ambitions.

Camden River was understandably surprised but, being naturally calm and collected, he showed little joy for an uncertain matter, remaining composed. Hearing the other’s words, he just smiled faintly, "This isn’t confirmed yet, so let’s not get excited."

"Once it’s confirmed, you have to treat us." Mia Ginger puckered her lips.

Camden River pressed his lips together and chuckled a little, "You’ve been afraid to eat lately; you’re getting fat."

"Huh?" Mia Ginger put a hand on her face, instinctively pinching it, immediately believing him. It did seem like she’d gained some weight, feeling downcast. "I always thought I could eat a lot without gaining weight."

"Where are you getting fat?" Phillip Hanson raised his eyebrows at her, encouragingly, "I estimate you’re just about ninety pounds now; you’re supposed to eat more. As far as I see, even if you eat and bankrupt Camden, you still won’t get fat, so don’t worry."

"Brother Hanson is better at making conversation."

"Young women need to be pampered." Phillip Hanson sighed towards Camden River, and both laughed together.

There was much teasing in the laughter, Mia Ginger snapped back to attention, decided to ignore them, turned around, glanced at the time, and noticed it was almost time to get off work. The thought of seeing Koa Jackson right after work made her surprisingly a little nervous.

The fourth clinic is just a twenty-minute drive from their office. Koa Jackson called her when he was almost there.

Mia Ginger got her backpack and went down to the usual spot to get in the car.

"Tired?" Her face slightly flushed, Koa Jackson asked.

Mia Ginger puffed her cheeks and shook her head, "Not tired."

"Going straight home?"

"Okay." Mia Ginger lowered her head and fastened her seatbelt, sitting properly.

Koa Jackson started the car. After a while, he realized she hadn’t spoken and, a bit surprised, turned his head, "Why aren’t you talking? Usually, you don’t stop talking once we get off work. Why are you so quiet today?"
