Chapter 1062: Chapter 1089: Having a Child (7)
Koa Jackson buried his head in Mia Ginger’s neck, calming his tone, and said quietly, "No need, thank you."
"..."
There was a moment of silence outside the door, "Okay. You’re welcome."
"Seems like they’ve left." Mia relaxed her body and whispered.
Koa pressed his hand on his forehead, then turned sideways to look for his phone on the carpet, glancing at it, it was ten twenty.
The restaurant closes at eleven; they came up at nine thirty, almost an hour already, no wonder the waiters were proactively bringing fruit plates. He indeed pinched Mia’s butt with a sense of absurdity.
Mia winced from the pain, smilingly probing, "Done?"
"You don’t seem hungry at all."
"That’s why I need you to feed me."
"Have some shame." Koa slapped her butt again, "Which girl acts like you?"
"I’m doing this to give Grandpa a surprise sooner." Mia sat up, leaning against the sofa back, watching him put on his pants, murmuring, "Do you think the baby made it through?"
Koa: "..."
How would he know? This girl doesn’t even have a regular cycle now.
Thinking faintly, he finished putting on his suit pants and moved on to his shirt.
Mia leaned back against the sofa, watching him dress with interest, showing no intention to dress herself, seemingly shameless.
Koa finished buttoning his shirt, picked her dress up, and placed it on the sofa, softly asking, "Do you want me to help you dress?"
"I’m sore," Mia pouted.
"Serves you right." Koa helped her get dressed, and as he did, couldn’t help but laugh, gently suggesting, "The next generation of the Jackson family will have names starting with ’Matthew.’ If it’s a boy, he’ll be called Matthew Jackson, a girl would be Leila Jackson. What do you think?"
"Matthew Jackson? Leila Jackson?" Mia raised her arms to look at him, squinting with a smile, "He who sows, reaps; the choice is yours."
"Sometimes I just want to rip your mouth off," Koa gritted his teeth, his earlobes turning red.
Mia giggled, opening her arms, "I’m so hungry, baby’s dad, quickly carry me to the table, I’m starving."
"..." Koa turned his head to nibble her ear.
Mia lifted her hand to cover her ear, biting her lip, not daring to act up, as Koa carried her to the doorway. She then turned on the light, bathing the room in an almost piercing brightness.
Koa set her down at the table, "Let’s start."
"The bolognese is cold." Mia wrapped some pasta around her fork, eating while muttering, "The scallops are cold too, even the coffee."
"Then don’t eat it yet, I’ll ask the waiter to replace it."
"No!" Mia quickly stopped him, "We’ve been here for an hour without eating, aren’t you blatantly telling them we were up to no good?"
Koa: "..."
"Cold is cold." Mia began eating briskly, confidently reasoning, "It’s so hot, eating something cold helps cool down."
"Use less of it." Koa reminded her, also lowering his head to start eating.
The meal wasn’t very satisfying.
They just made do.
Nevertheless, Mia felt happy, and after leaving the restaurant, didn’t feel sleepy at all.
Koa drove her back, as she watched the neon-lit night scene outside the window, she said without turning her head, "Let’s not turn on the air conditioning, let’s enjoy the breeze."
"You’ll catch a cold easily," Koa said quietly.
"Then let’s turn off the air conditioning first, and let the breeze in later," Mia suggested, thinking a bit and turning her head.
Koa glanced at her, lifted his hand to turn off the air conditioning, then said to her, "How about holding the wedding in November?"
"November?" Mia thought for a moment, "When my internship ends?"
"Yes, it’s the most suitable time, not too cold, and there’s plenty of time to prepare."
"Well, okay."
"That’s it?" Koa smiled helplessly, "Don’t you have any thoughts?"
"Where will the wedding be held?" Mia asked a question she found.
"Grandpa can’t fly now, so the wedding should be in the city. I haven’t decided on the banquet location yet, what do you think?"
"Anywhere is fine." Mia thought for a while and said three words, seeing Koa’s not-so-pleased expression, she quickly added, "I really don’t care about that; as long as it’s you, we can get married on the roadside."
Koa pursed his lips, nodded after a while, and said, "Alright."
He hadn’t met such a carefree bride-to-be, except for this girl, that is.
The weather was hot; after turning off the air conditioning, the car quickly became stuffy, so Koa lowered the car window, letting the summer night’s wind in. It wasn’t very cool, but with fewer people at night, the wind blowing in was somewhat refreshing.
Mia leaned against the seat and soon felt sleepy, recalling the piano piece Koa played earlier, she couldn’t help but tilt her head and start humming a tune with a smile.
The song she hummed was quite strange, her voice drifting; Koa had never heard it before but found it particularly gentle and tender, and couldn’t help but turn his head to ask, "What are you humming?"
"Does it sound nice?"
"Yes."
"It’s a song from my novel, a friend composed the music when I was studying abroad."
"Really?" Koa looked at her and smiled a bit, nodding as a sign he understood.
Mia softly said, "The song is called ’You Are My Light.’"
Brother Jackson, you are my light.
