The Trash Guide Awakens: The Youngest General's Hidden Wife
Chapter 44: The Zerg Sovereign
The two glowing crimson eyes beneath the shattered crust of Planet V-17 remained wide open in the dark abyss. For several agonizing seconds, absolute silence hung over the desolate plain, and nothing moved on the surface.
Then, without warning, the entire surrounding ground began to tremble violently. It was not a standard tectonic earthquake. It felt as though a colossal, unfathomable mass was shifting its body directly beneath the military academy grounds.
The jagged cracks unspooling across the western training field widened at a terrifying speed. Chunks of reinforced earth and shattered deck plates lifted into the air before crashing heavily down back into the dust.
The surrounding Zerg swarm suddenly lowered their armored bodies completely to the ground. Millions of mutated, bloodthirsty creatures became instantly, completely silent.
Rhaevia’s glowing blue eyes narrowed into sharp slits as her Guide pathways flared.
"What is happening down there?" she murmured softly.
Raevor’s hand immediately moved toward the jeweled hilt of his rapier, his posture locking into a lethal combat stance.
"Everyone, prepare for immediate high-density contact!" he barked into the command channel.
The surrounding academy instructors instantly transmitted his authoritative order across all localized channels.
"Defensive formations!" an instructor yelled franticly.
"Raise all remaining kinetic barriers!" another officer screamed over the sirens.
"Sentinels, weapons ready!" a squad leader bellowed to his trembling cadets.
The surviving students scrambled into position, their hands shaking as they aimed their plasma rifles at the rising dust cloud. But the Zerg horde did not charge forward to slaughter them.
Instead, the sea of monsters began moving slowly away from the exact center of the training field. One by one, then by the hundreds, and finally by the hundreds of thousands, the beasts retreated in perfect, silent unison.
The enormous alien army parted down the middle, creating a wide, unobstructed path through the ruined landscape. Something ancient was ascending to the surface.
Rhaevia stood at the edge of the high platform, her unblinking gaze staring directly into the dark abyss. A low, subterranean vibration traveled through the rock and metal deck plates.
Boom.
Boom.
Boom.
Each heavy step was agonizingly slow, deliberate, and dense enough to shake the foundational bedrock of the military installation. Then, a massive, obsidian claw emerged from the underground ruins, gripping the fractured edge of the earth.
It was unlike any Zerg appendage Rhaevia or Raevor had ever witnessed in their tactical studies. Black, metallic armor covered its frame, layered with glowing crimson lines that pulsed in rhythmic patterns like living, liquid veins.
Its colossal frame rose steadily from beneath the fractured earth, towering nearly ten meters tall into the night sky. Four powerful lower limbs supported its heavy body, while two massive, armored appendages rested against the ground like colossal natural blades.
Its crowned head was elongated, adorned with several curved, crown-like horns that shimmered under the orange firelight. However, what truly terrified the battle-hardened soldiers was not its immense physical size, but its eyes.
There were only two. They were a deep, intelligent crimson, focused and piercing. They did not behave like the mindless, bloodthirsty pupils of a wild alien beast. They observed the battlefield with profound clarity, analyzed the human formations, and understood everything.
The creature slowly raised its formidable head, its gaze sweeping over the military district. Every single Zerg surrounding the perimeter immediately lowered their heads flat into the dirt in absolute, reverent submission.
Rhaevia’s breathing completely stopped for half a heartbeat.
She recognized that terrifying mental presence instantly. It was the exact same ancient consciousness she had felt slumbering beneath the planet’s mantle, the same presence that had once spoken to her soul and called her King.
The creature shifted its glowing crimson gaze, locking directly onto her slender frame. It did not look at Raevor. It did not look at the armed soldiers. It completely ignored the military academy.
It saw only her.
"Rhaevia Rythundeir," a voice rasped.
Her name echoed loudly across the ruined battlefield. It was not delivered through physical sound waves, but broadcasted directly through the planetary mental network.
Every Sentinel on the surface heard it clearly, every Guide felt its weight, and even the academy’s electronic communication arrays distorted under the immense psychological pressure of the entity’s voice. The cadets stared up at the titan in absolute, paralyzed horror.
"It spoke..." a young Sentinel whispered, dropping his rifle.
"A Zerg... speaking human language through telepathy?" another cadet stammered, his face pale. "That’s impossible! The archives state they are mindless beasts!"
Raevor stepped forward instantly, his broad frame shielding her. His formidable 3S Sentinel energy erupted around his body in a blinding wave of dark blue radiance. The physical atmosphere around them trembled under the force of his aura. His dark eyes became utterly cold and lethal.
"Rhaevia," he said quietly, his hand locked around his weapon.
The giant creature’s crimson eyes slowly shifted toward the Major General. For the first time, something resembling genuine interest appeared within its dark, intelligent gaze.
"3S Sentinel," the creature rasped into their minds.
Raevor’s fingers tightened until his knuckles turned white against the rapier’s hilt.
"You possess intelligence," Raevor stated flatly. "You know what we are."
"I know exactly what you are," the creature’s mental voice echoed again, heavy with ancient authority. "You are the shield standing beside the Queen."
Raevor’s strict expression subtly changed, his brows drawing together.
Queen?
His analytical gaze immediately returned to Rhaevia standing at his side.
"What did it just call you?" he asked, his voice private and tense.
The Zerg Sovereign took another deliberate step forward, its massive weight causing the ground to crack. The resulting wave of mental pressure became suffocating.
Several cadets across the perimeter dropped heavily to their knees, clutching their throbbing heads. Even the experienced combat instructors struggled desperately to maintain their mental channels against the psychic tide.
Raevor released the absolute full strength of his 3S Sentinel aura to push back the pressure. The entire platform shook under the clash of their opposing forces.
"Stay behind me," Raevor commanded firmly, his posture unyielding.
He moved directly between Rhaevia and the towering Sovereign. His sharp rapier came free from its scabbard with a clear, metallic sound that cut through the wind. "I will handle this entity."
Rhaevia looked at his broad back, her glowing blue eyes fixed on his uniform.
"No," she said softly.
Raevor glanced back over his shoulder, his dark eyes sharp.
"This creature exists far beyond any standard Zerg classification metrics," he warned.
"I know," Rhaevia replied smoothly.
"It possesses Sovereign-level mental authority over the entire planetary swarm," he pressed.
"I know," she repeated, her voice unhurried.
"Then you understand precisely why I am going to eliminate it right now," Raevor stated, his Sentinel energy flaring.
Rhaevia took a smooth step forward, passing directly by his side.
Raevor’s hand shot out, his long fingers catching her wrist to stop her progress.
"Rhaevia," he snapped, his voice carrying rare urgency.
She slowly looked down at his hand gripping her wrist, then turned her eyes up to meet his intense gaze. Her pale face was strangely, unnaturally calm amidst the chaos.
The ancient creature remained stationary in the distance, its crimson eyes watching her movement. It was waiting, almost patiently, as if observing a long-awaited reunion.
Rhaevia slowly pulled her wrist free from his grip.
"This one belongs to me," she declared softly.
Raevor’s dark pupils contracted, his tone darkening. "You don’t truly know what that thing is."
Rhaevia turned her head toward the towering Zerg titan.
"Yes," she whispered. "I do."
She could feel it pulsing through the atmosphere. Something buried deep within her fully awakened 3S Guide core was actively responding to the creature’s presence. It was not responding with terror or defensive aggression, but with absolute, unmistakable recognition.
The smooth black crystal buried within her mental sea pulsed once with blinding light. The Zerg Sovereign slowly lowered its massive, horned head.
Rhaevia took one deliberate step forward toward the edge of the platform. The moment her boot made contact with the deck, the entire Zerg army lowered their bodies even further into the dirt.
She took another step. The physical and psychological pressure saturating the atmosphere became almost unbearable, locking every human soldier in place.
Then, the colossal creature bent its massive, armored forward limbs. The most powerful, terrifying Zerg entity on Planet V-17 slowly lowered its horned head toward Rhaevia’s feet. Its towering body descended to the ground. And then, it knelt.
Millions of Zerg across the entire planet immediately followed its action, bowing their heads into the ash. The vast, burning battlefield fell into a dead, reverent silence.
The ancient Sovereign rested its head upon the fractured earth, its intelligent crimson eyes facing the ground before her. Then, its raspy, undeniable voice echoed clearly across the mind of every single living soul on the planet:
"My Queen."
