Li Yan stared at the sword for a long moment after hearing its voice. He had encountered many strange things since entering the mythical space, yet he still found himself wondering whether it would be absurd to answer a sword as though it were another person. Before he could decide what to say, the sword vibrated lightly in his hand.

"Do not be alarmed, young cultivator. I merely asked you a question. Things like talking swords are not new; it only shows how powerful I am."

Li Yan nodded after hearing that explanation. Considering everything he had already seen inside the mythical space, a talking sword no longer seemed impossible. He looked down at the weapon in his hand and answered honestly, "Yes, I was the one who picked you up. I do not know if that counts as waking you up, though. You were already lying there when I found you."

The sword vibrated again before its voice sounded through the space. "Very well. Place a drop of your blood on the tip of the blade so we may bond together, then I will reveal my true form."

Li Yan nodded and carefully pricked his finger against the tip of the blade. A drop of blood formed on his fingertip before he allowed it to fall onto the sword. The moment his blood touched the blade, a white-hot pain flashed through his head, so intense that his vision blurred and his body swayed. He clenched his teeth and waited for the pain to pass, but it disappeared almost as quickly as it had appeared, leaving him dizzy for a moment.

After his breathing settled, Li Yan looked down at the sword and noticed that its entire appearance had changed. The rough exterior he had seen when he first picked it up was gone, replaced by the weapon’s true form. He stared at it with curiosity while Xiaoxiao laughed beside him, clearly amused by what had happened.

"It seems the truly unique things always find their way to you, Li Yan," Xiaoxiao said.

Li Yan ignored her teasing and continued examining the sword. He had chosen it because its discarded appearance had reminded him of himself, but he had never expected the weapon to possess such an unusual origin.

"This sword belonged to and was crafted by the first master of the space. I believe he called it the Nine Heavens Scorching Sun Blade. It is a unique and incredibly powerful sword, but the downside is that it works according to the cultivation of its user. It will revert to the level of your cultivation in a few—"

Xiaoxiao did not even finish speaking before the sword changed again. The impressive form disappeared, and the weapon returned to its previous appearance. In only a moment, it looked no different from a cheap sword that could be found in some back alley.

"Ahem, the good news is that it will upgrade according to your cultivation," Xiaoxiao added after seeing his expression.

Li Yan looked at the sword again and found that he did not mind the situation. If the weapon could become stronger alongside his cultivation, then there was nothing wrong with starting from its current level. He would improve his cultivation, and the sword would improve with him.

After putting the matter aside, Li Yan walked back toward the open field with the sword in his hand. Now that he had obtained a weapon, he could finally begin practicing his sword skills. The flow of time inside the mythical space was different from the outside world, so he could spend three months training here while only a much shorter period passed in reality.

Xiaoxiao had already told him that he could remain inside the space for as long as a year if he wished, but Li Yan did not want to return after a short period with cultivation and skills that would make people suspicious.

He had only recently entered the sect, and showing too much ability too quickly would attract attention he did not need. Three months of practice would allow him to improve without making his progress seem unreasonable.

Li Yan stopped in the open field and adjusted his grip on the sword while thinking about how he should begin. He had never properly trained with a sword before, so he decided to start with the basics rather than immediately attempting one of the thousands of techniques in a manual.

"Now, let us start with the stance..."

Before he could complete the movement, his vision suddenly blurred, and a buzzing sensation filled his head. Several thousand sword techniques rushed into his consciousness at once, each one appearing with enough detail for him to understand the principles behind its movements. The sudden influx of information left Li Yan standing still as he tried to process the techniques that had been placed directly into his mind.

Some techniques focused on speed, while others relied on strength or precise control. There were methods for attacking, defending, changing direction, controlling spiritual Qi through the blade, and combining movements into more complicated forms. The techniques were powerful enough that Li Yan could immediately understand how much time it would take to master even a small portion of them.

The information eventually settled in his mind, leaving Li Yan with a heavy sensation in his head. He understood that receiving the knowledge was only the beginning. Knowing how a technique worked did not mean his body could perform it properly, and he would still need to spend time practicing each movement until he could use it naturally.

The Nine Heavens Scorching Sun Blade possessed a fire attribute. So his fire attribute could be trained while he practiced with the sword, he could work on both at the same time instead of separating the two forms of training. That would make the three months inside the mythical space much more useful.

He tightened his grip on the sword and looked across the empty field. There was no one here to interrupt his practice, and he could spend the next three months learning without worrying about anyone seeing how quickly he improved.

This was an opportunity he could not afford to squander.

"Thank you Fan Jian, I will not waste this opportunity, I will use these three months to learn as much as I can..."
