THE SYSTEM IS NOT MINE

Chapter 118: The Victory

For a moment, time halted.

Then it resumed.

The arrow hit.

But it did not hit Yan. A shadow stood there, blood dripping from his hand as he was pushed a few steps back and crashed into the troops behind him, including Yan.

Then he stood up. Kaizi opened his mouth and shouted, "General Yan!"

"General Yan!"

"General Yan!"

Then the Noir troops around him began to rally and moved forward.

The enemy commander raised his bow again, but he couldn't see Yan anymore. The Noir troops were covering Yan as they charged at Shin.

Then he took a deep breath and looked to the sides.

"Retreat."

"Retreat."

Orders to retreat spread around from multiple commanders.

He opened his mouth for a second, said nothing for a moment, and then said, "Retreat."

Leo clashed with his enemy. The enemy raised his wind qi and began to pull back.

"Not that easily." Leo sent out a wind cutter. It moved at the man, but the man dodged it in the air. Another air cutter came right around; he dodged again, but the third one hit his leg and injured it.

But he successfully escaped.

Similarly, the Core Formation cultivators who had fought with Noir also pushed Noir away and began to retreat.

The Noir troops pursued the retreating troops for a while before retreating.

"Let's go to the city much faster than the others; we have big news to announce." Some people rushed to the city, while the rest of the army took their time going back.

Yan walked beside ordinary members of Han Defu Unit, behind Gwalior.

"Yan, you really are something," Gwalior said as he looked at him with awestruck eyes.

The other members did too.

Chen Yu was the one who smiled the most, but Leo was at the very forefront.

He appeared to be discussing several things with other commanders and Core Formation cultivators.

Soon the familiar rock eagles on the walls of Golden Eagle City's gate came into view.

The people of the city crowded on top of the walls and at the gate.

The message of the victory and Yan's feats had reached them before it reached any other city, and all of them were here to witness the man who had dismantled an army all by himself.

On the walls of the city, at the front, a girl stood beside a woman.

"Mom, Mom, they are here, they are here." She stomped her feet on the ground and pointed toward the incoming troops.

Every citizen looked seriously at the returning army, whose face carried the smiles of victory.

"Look, there is Dad." One of the kids pointed his finger.

"Mom, I don't see General Yan. Who is he?" the girl asked the woman.

The troops began to enter the gate; their footsteps echoed up to the walls.

Right then, someone from the crowd on the walls shouted, "General Yan!"

"General Yan!"

"General Yan!"

Other people on the wall shouted.

For a moment, people all around Yan turned toward him.

"General Yan!" Yan raised his hand and shouted as well.

The people around widened their eyes and looked at him strangely.

"Cough!" Yan coughed, kept his head down, and continued walking.

"General Yan!"

"General Yan!"

"General Yan!"

But the voices of the people did not lessen; they only increased.

The streets of the city were packed; everyone had gathered to catch a glimpse of the legendary soldier who had shaken the battlefield alone.

But the army didn't stop; they continued toward the military base.

Once they entered the military base, the people of the city were cut off.

But most did not go back to the barracks; they tried to follow Han Defu Unit.

"Hmph! We still haven't forgotten how Yan fooled us by pretending to be Mofu," some still commented.

"It was a necessity, wasn't it?" one man defended.

"Bullshit! Aren't you the one who cursed the higher-ups before, saying you couldn't forgive them for lying, and now you're switching sides?"

"I am not. I still don't agree with the higher-ups, but Yan was just following orders," the man defended.

Meanwhile, inside the barracks,

Yan closed his eyes and cultivated while the people around him still stared at him.

"What are you guys looking at? Let's work hard if we want to follow him in the future." Chen Yu gazed around.

"Yes, Commander." Everyone nodded.

Then Chen Yu sat beside Yan and cultivated. Then Gwalior sat beside Chen Yu and cultivated.

Other cultivators sat beside them.

And the non-cultivators swung their swords around.

That night, Leo summoned Yan to his barracks.

"Yan, you are here..." Leo hugged Yan.

"You did well. I have told a few commanders not to contact you without consulting me, but I don't think they are going to stay silent much longer after what you have demonstrated."

"Also, we have received the latest information about General Hecta's whereabouts; she was last seen in the Sunset Forest,"

"You have become a big target now,"

"Listen, we will be sneaking out right now for the mission. We are going to chase after General Hecta's whereabouts," Leo said.
