THE SYSTEM IS NOT MINE

Chapter 112 : The Deception.

  • Next Chapter

The battle of the next day began in the east.

Noir clashed with Shin again, but this time it was happening about eight kilometers away from the Golden Eagle City and was being fought in proper formation.

The Han Defu Unit, including Yan, did not take part in the battle.

Genie led the Shin. For some reason, Han Hian was not there today.

Mofu was not present either.

Genie glared and scanned the battlefield from the sky. Beside him stood a Shin soldier.

“Is this the guy?” Genie pointed at one Noir soldier.

Then he pointed at another.

But the Shin soldier shook his head.

“Is your story even real? If not for the dead bodies, I wouldn’t have believed it at all. Maybe we have an emerging Dark Letter user in Noir,” Genie commented.

“Identify him fast, or I will release you,” Genie said.

The soldier looked down and swallowed nervously.

“No, no, it’s absolutely real...” the soldier said.

Meanwhile, in the military base of Golden Eagle City, inside the medical cabin, the injured soldiers all gathered around a particular private room, guarded by Gwalior.

“Gwalior, how is the General now?”

“Gwalior, I would like to see the General,” one of the injured said.

“Me as well,” another soldier said.

“Wait, let me go in and check first,” Gwalior said, and went inside the cabin.

Curtains were arranged from four sides of the bed, and small table was placed next to right curtain, on the table and apple was placed.

Behind the curtains, Yan lay on the bed, looking toward two birds playing in the room. Coming in and out of an open window above his bed.

When Yan heard the footsteps, he noticed Gwalior coming from the gap of the curtains, he sneaked his head out.

“Yan, they would like to see you,” Gwalior said.

“I am sleeping. Don’t disturb,” Yan pulled his head back again into curtains.

Gwalior stood stunned for a moment, and went out.

The people outside the separate cabin, eagerly waited for Gwalior to return. When they saw him coming out, their faces lit up.

“Sir, the General is still unconscious. I will let you know when he wakes up,” Gwalior said.

The soldiers dispersed.

After about an hour, one soldier came to Gwalior again.

“Can you see if the General is awake?” the soldier asked.

Gwalior’s eyebrows furrowed. He still pretended to go inside, came back, and said, “No.”

The cycle repeated for hours.

Gwalior could no longer handle the crowd, so he went inside and looked at Yan.

“These guys just don’t want to give up... Why do they want to meet the General personally? If the General were not injured, it would have been impossible for these people to even see him normally.”

Yan nodded and then said, “I am awake now, but I want to see an archer first.”

Gwalior nodded and went out.

“The General is awake,” he announced.

The soldiers looked at each other and cheered.

“But his injury is still bad. However, he said that if he is to see anyone, that person should be an archer first,” Gwalior said.

The injured soldiers looked at each other. Most of them were not archers; archers rarely got injured.

For a moment, no one introduced themselves as an archer.

“I am here...” Then a feminine voice broke the silence.

A woman with long hair, wearing a black frock, with a bandage on her head, spoke.

“Wait here. I will inform the General,” Gwalior said as he went inside the private room.

Then he came back. “You can go in,” Gwalior said.

The female archer went inside. When she entered the cabin, all she saw were curtains made of cloth surrounding a bed.

The shadow of a figure could be seen sitting on the bed from outside.

“Muskaan greets the General,” she said as she dropped to her knees.

“You are... an... archer?” The voice from behind the curtain was weak.

Muskaan wondered how badly the General was wounded, then she said, “Yes, General.”

“Could you... tell me... about your... forms and techniques?” Yan asked.

“Well, it depends on how far you can see, how strong your muscles are, and the strength of your back muscles...” Muskaan began explaining archery.

“Are there... different... forms?” Yan asked.

“Yes. Everything depends on the target. In war, our main focus is on moving targets, but we won’t shoot if the target is moving too fast, unless it is a group attack,” Muskaan replied.

“Could you show me how you grip... and release the arrow?” Yan asked.

“Yes, General.”

“But let me get my arrow and bow,” Muskaan said.

“Go ahead,” Yan said.

Muskaan stood up and went out of the room.

“How is the General? Why did he want to see an archer?” The soldiers outside tried to surround her.

But she moved toward her bed, grabbed her weapons, and came back in.

“I am going to demonstrate the pull first,” she said.

“Yes,” Yan said while parting the curtain just enough for his eyes to be visible.

He looked at her posture as she drew the arrow, her grip, and her eyes on the target, which appeared to be an apple placed next to the curtains.

“Now I am going to demonstrate the release.” Then her grip loosened, the arrow released, and hit the apple.

Yan nodded.

“Do it again,” Yan said.

Muskaan did not object and repeated the process.

“You... can... go... now,” Yan said.

Then Muskaan bowed and left the room.

After she left, Gwalior came in and looked at Yan.

“Why do you want to see an archer?” he asked.

“I tried archery recently, but my form was not that good, and my aim was a bit off. I just want to learn it well enough,” Yan said.

“But you had better not do anything like this again, or we will get caught,” Gwalior warned.

Yan brought his hand toward his face and yawned, "Where is Chen Yu?"

Gwalior replied, "He is at training grounds, but he still could not concentrate well."

"Help him out." Yan said.

Gwalior stunned and looked at Yan thinking what the hell this weird guy even saying.

"Does he have any other plans?" Yan asked.

"He planned to visit General Mofu's grave at evening,"Gwalior said.

"So, that's it, Let's help him," Yan then looked at the open window above.

"Bring me a bow and few arrows, I will explain." Yan said.

Time passed, At Evening, In the capital of Noir, Ebonreach, King Xia Shin, wearing black royal robes embroidered with a leaf symbol, stood in front of a map on a table placed before his throne.

Around him stood ministers and military personnel.

He stared at the map.

“Your Majesty, the Kingdom of Mia is too much. They attacked right when we declared war on Shin."

"That damn Wai Chen of Mia kingdom killed General Dao and severely injured General Lifen."

“Your Majesty, the Kingdom of Choi is no better. General Wushang lost the battle, we lost many troops."

The shouts of the ministers spread through the room, but the King looked at the map.

The banners of Choi were pressing inward from the west.

The banners of Mia were descending from the north.

The banners of Shin were advancing from the east.

The Kingdom of Noir was surrounded on all sides, and all he heard was one piece of bad news after another.

The fall of many generals. But he did not panic.

“Any news from the east?” the King asked.

“Your Majesty, a pigeon from the east has just arrived. Minister Shian went to receive it.”

Just then, an old man wearing red robes came in.

“This is bad.”

The ministers stood firm, realizing that there was more bad news.

“General Mofu has fallen...” Shian said.

Everyone stood up immediately and looked towards the King who was seated.

The King still stared at Shian.

"General Mofu has fallen, but the we did not loose the war, Before he fell, he severely injured Han Hian."

"Currently, the commanders decided to lie about his condition with the troops, and they requested for a new General as soon as possible."

Shian said.

The King glanced at Shian, breathed out from mouth.

"Summon General Hecta."

At the same time, on a hill outside Golden Eagle City, Chen Yu stood before a freshly dug grave.

It was just beneath the graves of General Mofu's parents grave.

A nameplate was placed on it: Brave Soldier Hukata.

The name was false. Here lay General Mofu.

“General... you died protecting me.”

“Maybe you could have won if it weren’t for me.” Chen Yu said.

Right at the moment, bushes around the graves moved.

"Uncle, uncle, help me."

A small girl of age of nine walked out of it while crying.

"Don't cry. What happened? " Chen Yu looked at girl, she had fresh scars on her.
