The System Awakens: Rise of the Champion
Chapter 307: The Explorers - 2
Chapter 307: Chapter 307: The Explorers - 2
The moment all of the gods and goddesses, especially those who held dominion over divine concepts related to combat and fighting, began transforming into their true godly forms, something even more threatening happened within the army of forces pouring out of the spatial rift in the sky.
The army consisted of all sorts of beings from another universe.
There were human-looking warriors, humanoid beings with grotesque appendages in place of their arms, legs, and tails, and beings that looked nothing like humans yet possessed vaguely humanoid bodies.
Following them came giants standing several meters tall, with bulky bodies powerful enough to sweep through and flatten entire cities.
And more followed.
More and more beings of unimaginable forms and creations continued pouring out of the spatial rift, all originating from another universe with a single intention.
Destruction.
It was as if the entire invading army had been alerted by the reaction of the Egyptian gods.
Suddenly, the countless beings released a collective cry.
It sounded like a mixture of screams and shouts, yet at the same time, it was something entirely different.
A strange and incomprehensible war cry.
Then, the moment the army of invaders pouring out of the spatial rift and the Egyptian gods were about to collide, something completely unexpected happened.
Just a moment before the two armies could clash head-on, the entire army of invaders, every single one of them, suddenly burst into explosions.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
In only a few moments, the entire battlefield was riddled with countless spheres of explosions.
Each explosion released a strange golden energy, one that was intertwined with ghastly black threads that seemed to writhe and spread through the golden radiance.
And all of the gods and goddesses were caught within them.
The attack had been instantaneous.
For some unbelievable reason, even the gods had been unable to sense or detect what was coming.
It was as if these explosions had originated completely outside the range of their senses.
Each explosion was comparable to an atomic bomb, with enough destructive force to reduce a major city to nothing but ashes.
But such destructive power should have been nothing to the gods and goddesses.
They were gods.
Divine beings who had transcended mortality itself.
Mortal weapons created by humanity, or anything remotely comparable to weapons of that scale, should not have been capable of doing anything to their bodies.
At most, such an attack might have left behind a few insignificant scratches.
But that was not what was happening now.
"AAAHHHHH!"
"What is happening?!"
"This fucking burns!"
All of the gods and goddesses caught within the explosions screamed in agony.
Their bodies were burning under the effects of the mysterious energy released by the explosions.
Their skin rapidly burned away, while their Divine Essence, the unique energy possessed by all gods and the primary source of their power, began to be rapidly consumed by whatever force was contained within the explosions.
Their divine bodies were being burned despite the fact that they were gods.
Something that should have been impossible.
Gods could only be harmed by other gods or by beings belonging to a higher rank.
Yet the beings that had just exploded were clearly not gods.
They certainly were not beings of a rank higher than gods.
And yet, when they exploded, whatever energy had been stored within their bodies was powerful enough to physically injure gods.
Although every universe was different from the others, the fundamental ranks of beings and creatures were not.
All universes possessed the same fundamental order established by the system of reality and existence.
Every universe had a Universal Tree.
Then came the Positivity Tree and the Negativity Tree.
Beyond them existed the Primordials, World Trees, Constellations, Progenitors, Gods, and Mortals.
These ranks existed within every universe.
The gods did not require knowledge from outside their own universe to understand this.
They already knew that these fundamental ranks were part of the very system governing reality and existence itself.
Therefore, they could immediately recognize what the beings pouring out of the spatial rift were.
They were not gods.
They were mortals.
And yet, when those mortals exploded, the energy stored within them was so powerful and so effective that it could physically hurt gods.
Worse still, it was not merely burning their bodies.
The mysterious energy was interfering with their souls and Divine Essence, preventing them from healing themselves and disrupting their ability to utilize their Divine Authorities.
The gods could not simply regenerate from the damage.
Their own Divine Essence was being consumed faster than they could replenish it, while the strange golden energy intertwined with those ghastly black threads continued spreading through their bodies and interfering with their very souls.
It was an attack that should never have been possible.
Mortals had exploded.
Yet their deaths had released an energy capable of injuring gods.
"This energy... it can’t be..."
The Elder God King Ra narrowed his eyes in terror as he watched his own pantheon of gods being overwhelmed by a mere surprise attack from a suicidal wave of invaders.
"They were sacrificial vanguards... capable of harming divine beings..." the Elder God King Ra realized.
In the next second, his figure transformed.
Silvery-white armor manifested across his entire body, metallic and solid, just like the armor worn by the other gods of his pantheon.
But unlike the others, Ra’s armor did not transform into the form of an animal.
Instead, his entire head, face, and body seemed to transform into the blazing fire of the sun itself.
It was as though the sun’s flames had become his very body, while the metallic armor held his shape and form together.
Another piece of metallic armor manifested in his hand before rapidly transforming into a spear.
The Spear of the Sun appeared in his grasp, radiating the overwhelming power of the sun.
In the next second, Ra raised his spear and slammed its base into the ground with tremendous force.
BOOM!
It was as though the sun itself had exploded.
An intense wave of fiery solar energy erupted from Ra, expanding outward in an enormous ring and sweeping across the battlefield in every direction.
The wave washed over all the gods and goddesses who had been affected by the mysterious energy released by the explosions.
Yet instead of burning them, the fiery solar energy began forcing the mysterious energy out of their bodies.
There was immense resistance.
The mysterious energy clung to their bodies like a parasite, refusing to detach itself from its hosts.
But the force behind God King Ra’s attack was even more fierce.
Under the overwhelming might of his solar energy, the foreign energy was forcibly torn away from the gods and goddesses.
One after another, the mysterious energy was completely expelled from their bodies, like poison being purged from their very existence.
"It’s the Nether Energy of the Void!" God King Ra declared.
"Cut off your infected parts and regenerate them, or you will not be able to recover!"
The gods immediately followed his command.
But at that very moment, Ra’s eyes widened with even greater concern.
He sensed a massive fluctuation of energy coming from the spatial rift.
Ra immediately turned around.
The spatial rift covering the sky was widening even further.
It was as though an unknown force was forcibly tearing it apart, ripping the enormous rift open as if someone were physically pulling reality itself apart.
Then, several figures flew out from within the rift.
Ra’s eyes narrowed.
It was unclear what kind of beings they were.
However, there was one thing he could determine immediately.
They were already in their godly forms.
Whatever these beings were, they were at least God-Rank entities.
The threatening presence they released was overwhelming.
They were powerful.
Powerful enough that Ra could sense that some of them were probably on par with him.
One of the invading gods had an appearance composed of nothing but pure light, resembling the Heavenly Father of the Biblical Pantheon.
The being crossed his arms.
Ra could see a smile forming across his face of light.
"To think there exists a god in this measly universe capable of detaching the Nether Energy of the Void from their bodies."
The invading god spoke with a small smile.
"What you are doing is blasphemous. Trying to invade a foreign universe is a dangerous Incursion..." God King Ra said.
"What blasphemy?"
Another invading god spoke.
This one’s appearance resembled a tree, his entire body made of wood and branches while still maintaining a humanoid shape.
"Do you know how many times I have heard those exact same words from other gods from the universes we have destroyed?"
Another invading god stepped forward.
His appearance resembled that of a humanoid with a lizard’s head.
He casually tapped the spear in his hand against the ground.
"In the grand calculus of the infinitely expanding multiverse, killing a few underdeveloped universes is nothing but crumbs that no one cares about."
"Leave now. Go back to wherever you came from..."
Ra’s voice was cold.
He already knew there was no point in trying to reason with them.
They had dared to use hundreds of thousands of their own forces as nothing more than suicidal bombs.
They would not leave without seeing blood and death.
The invading gods merely grinned.
"Oh, we’re going back."
The light-covered god’s smile widened.
"After killing every single one of your defenders and taking all the resources your universe has produced..."
He paused for a moment.
"Then we will leave."
