The Supreme Village Doctor

Chapter 76: Chapter 77: Unlucky Liu Jinsheng
"Please, go ahead," Li Yang said very humbly.
"First off, the transportation here isn’t great, especially the road into your village. It’s a really tough drive. Second, there’s nowhere to eat. Even though the food was pretty good, we didn’t even have a proper place to sit down, which was a bit uncomfortable. Also, everyone wants to rest for a bit at noon, but there’s no place for that either."
Li Yang understood now. He said earnestly, "Sir, you’re right, this is just a rural village. How about this: I’ll make improvements. At the very least, I’ll build a cafeteria here so that when people come to fish in the future, they’ll have a place to eat. I’ll also do my best to set up a place for people to rest. What do you think?"
"Deal!" The old man was very happy. "Don’t you worry, I’ll definitely be back next time. Catching a few fish for a hundred and twenty yuan is a good deal."
Li Yang laughed and saw the old man to the vehicle. He said to the driver, "Sir, no need to rush. Drive slowly, safety is the most important thing."
Soon, the two vehicles had disappeared from sight.
Li Yang did some quick calculations.
Food expenses were 2,100 yuan, and vehicle rentals cost 3,000, for a total expenditure of 5,100.
But the total revenue was 12,000 yuan. After subtracting expenses, that was a net profit of 6,900!
’My God, this is an insane profit!’
Li Yang was getting excited. This was a long-term business, and he knew he could do it even better.
After some thought, he walked back to the mushroom house.
"Boss..." The foreman happened to be looking for Li Yang. "The mushroom house will be finished tomorrow. About the final payment..."
"Alright, how much is left on the final payment?" Li Yang asked briskly.
"This mushroom house is quite large. There’s still sixty-three thousand left."
"Give me your account number!" Li Yang’s heart ached a little. He had painstakingly saved up over a hundred thousand, and now more than sixty thousand of it was going out the door.
’When will I ever earn enough money to build a school?’
"Thanks, Boss!" The foreman was quite happy; after all, Li Yang was very straightforward with payments.
"Your surname is Xu, right?" Li Yang said with a smile. "Brother Xu, it’s like this. Come with me. The mushroom house is all set, but I want to build a cafeteria here. I need your help." As he spoke, Li Yang led the foreman to the lakeside and pointed. "Look, I want to build a cafeteria right here. Put in a few large stoves inside, enough for at least ten people to cook at once. The cafeteria itself should be able to hold one or two hundred people. And over here, we can build a rest area, the kind with large, shared sleeping platforms. Then over here, build me a small convenience store..."
Li Yang explained his ideas.
"Boss, what you’re doing is..." The foreman was a bit confused.
Li Yang smiled and said, "It’s nothing much. I just have some fellow fishermen who like to come here, so I need to make proper arrangements for them, don’t you think?"
"Oh, I see. In that case, sure, I can get that arranged for you!"
With another job lined up right after this one, Foreman Xu was happy too.
After paying another twenty thousand yuan as a deposit, Li Yang was left with just over fifty thousand on hand.
’My heart is bleeding!’
The hundred-thousand-plus yuan he had worked so hard to save up was more than half gone in the blink of an eye.
As he was thinking, Li Yang received a call from an unknown number.
"Brother Li..." Liu Jinsheng’s voice came from the other end.
Li Yang was taken aback. ’This guy really is persistent. I wonder where he got my number.’
"I was definitely in the wrong before, so I’m apologizing, okay?" Liu Jinsheng felt like he had been completely screwed over this time. "I’m begging you, can you please talk to Manager Niu for me? Ask him to rent vehicles to me again. Otherwise, how am I supposed to do business in the future? It was all my fault, one hundred percent my fault. I’m begging you!"
Li Yang paused for a moment before speaking. "Those two busloads of people from today, where did they go?"
"What people?! They’re gone!" Liu Jinsheng was so angry he could spit blood. "They’ve all been cursing me out. Where was I supposed to find vehicles for them?"
’So that’s what happened!’
Li Yang let out a sly chuckle and said, "How about this? Don’t say I didn’t give you a chance. You get those two busloads of people back. Tell them to be at Donghu Passenger Station at six tomorrow morning to catch the bus. I’ll contact Manager Niu and have him arrange the vehicles to bring them here to fish."
"Really?" Liu Jinsheng was a little skeptical. "Brother Li, are you serious?"
’He was truly scared. This guy was as cunning as a fox; he was no match for him.’
"Of course!" Li Yang said.
"No, no, no... What if I get everyone to come and you just block my number again? I’d be doing all this work for you for nothing!" Having been screwed over by Li Yang twice in a row, Liu Jinsheng no longer trusted him.
Li Yang was amused. "I won’t screw you over this time. I only did it before because you tried to screw me over first! How about this: you bring the people over, and we’ll split the money. Seventy-thirty split, I get seventy. How does that sound?"
"Isn’t that a little too low?" Liu Jinsheng was a bit reluctant.
"Low?" Li Yang laughed out loud. "Take a look at how popular my fishing spot is now. So many people want to come here. Without my spot, could you even bring people in? You can’t even find a bus. Take it or leave it. If you don’t want to do it, I’ll just find another trip organizer to work with."
"I’ll do it, I’ll do it..." Liu Jinsheng gave a bitter smile. "Brother, just don’t screw me over again, okay?"
"Alright. I absolutely won’t screw you over. Just bring the people!"
