Chapter 296 -297: The Poison User Arrives

Manager Zhang jolted, asking with unconcealed glee, “You’re saying you have three more stalks of hundred-year-old ginseng?”

Ordinary items were no longer enough to pique the interest of managers like him, but hundred-year-old ginseng certainly was.

What’s more, this was something headquarters itself needed.

Whichever district turned in more hundred-year-old ginseng would naturally get more credit, which would be a huge boost to their performance reviews.

‘I can’t just hand something that’s practically in my grasp over to someone else.’

That’s why Manager Zhang was so excited.

“Of course,” Li Yang said. He knew this was the only way to get the man to cooperate. “Think it over. I’ll give you one day. If you can’t get the Ironwire Grass by then, I’ll find someone else to work with.”

“You…” Manager Zhang could tell this was a difficult situation. He finally said, “Alright, fine. I’ll go coordinate with the other districts and see if I can get my hands on some. Just wait for my call, and don’t do anything rash. I’ll let you know if there are any developments.”

With that, Manager Zhang hung up.

Li Yang breathed a sigh of relief.

‘Of course, he hadn’t planned on actually going to the North District manager for the Ironwire Grass himself. The Xiao Zhen family was based there, after all. If he showed up trying to buy it, he would definitely attract their attention.’

‘The best way was to have Manager Zhang arrange the transfer privately. As long as my own name isn’t revealed, it will be a success.’

‘Clearly, things are already moving in the direction I’d hoped.’

‘Good!’

‘This is as much as I can do for Xiao Zhen. Whatever happens next is out of my hands, and frankly, I don’t want to get any more involved.’

‘Besides, from the looks of it, Xiao Zhen might not even want my help in the first place.’

After finishing the call, Li Yang threw himself back into the village’s construction projects.

The resort’s basic facilities were finished. Now, while other sections were still under construction, the interior decorating had begun.

At the same time, the road was also under construction.

Seeing all this, Li Yang was in a good mood.

The next day, Li Yang didn’t receive a call from Manager Zhang. Instead, another visitor had already arrived at his door.

A middle-aged man drove up to the gate of Li Yang’s courtyard.

Li Yang found this a bit odd. He walked up to the man and asked, “Are you here as a tourist? Our visitor center is over that way. I can show you.”

The middle-aged man looked at Li Yang and shook his head, a look of disappointment on his face. “You’re Li Yang?”

Li Yang raised an eyebrow. “That’s right. I’m Li Yang.”

“The Red Ming Seed Poison… was it you who cured it?”

Li Yang was inwardly alarmed, but he looked at the man and replied calmly, “I’m sorry, I don’t understand what you mean.”

“My name is Mo Jiang,” the man said, sitting down on a rock and watching Li Yang with a faint, knowing smile. “Let’s put it this way: I was the one who poisoned He Tianba. I thought he was a dead man for sure, but I never expected someone would actually cure him. The Red Ming Seed Poison isn’t something just anyone can neutralize. So when he was cured, I became curious. I wanted to see just who could possibly have broken my poison. But now that I see you, I’m a little disappointed. I didn’t expect it to be someone so young. You don’t look like you have what it takes to cure my Red Ming Seed Poison.”

Li Yang’s heart skipped a beat.

‘He Zinan and the others must be searching for this man, and yet here he was, having shown up on my doorstep all on his own.’

“Mr. Mo…” Li Yang had no desire to offend a man like this. ‘I’m just a doctor,’ he thought, ‘their feuds have nothing to do with me.’ “I only cured the poison by chance. It’s not what you think. I truly didn’t mean to offend you. If I did, please forgive me.”

Li Yang adopted a very humble stance.

Mo Jiang chuckled and shook his head. “Of course I know you cured it by accident. My Red Ming Seed Poison isn’t so easily broken. But since you *did* manage to break it, you’ve made me lose face. And since that’s the case, you’ll have to compensate me somehow, won’t you?”

Anger flared in Li Yang’s heart. ‘I’m just trying to avoid trouble, it’s not that I’m afraid of you! But you just had to push it, didn’t you? Are you trying to force my hand?’

“What kind of compensation did you have in mind?” Li Yang asked, his voice low.

“I heard you used some sort of Acupuncture Technique to force the poison out, correct?” Mo Jiang said with a laugh. “I’m rather curious about this technique of yours. So, I’d like to ‘borrow’ it for a look. Tell me, what kind of technique is it?”

Li Yang understood now. ‘So this is what it’s about. He’s just being greedy and wants to steal my Acupuncture Technique.’

“If you don’t hand it over, the next person to be poisoned will be you,” Mo Jiang threatened, clicking his tongue as if he could read Li Yang’s mind. “Tsk, tsk. If you were poisoned, there’d be no one left to cure you, would there?”

“But what if I don’t want to give it to you? What are you going to do about it?” Li Yang looked at Mo Jiang and spoke slowly. “Actually, I have another question for you. The poison affecting He Zinan… was that your work, too?”

Mo Jiang’s expression darkened, and a murderous aura emanated from him. “The only reason I’m even talking to you is because I’m showing you respect. You’d be wise to know what’s good for you.”
