Chapter 263: Chapter 264: Mr. Liang
Miss Qiu frowned and answered the call.
"There’s no need to trouble yourself..." Miss Qiu waited for the person on the other end to finish before immediately refusing. "I’m about to have it sorted out over here..."
With that, Miss Qiu hung up.
Li Yang narrowed his eyes.
’What’s that supposed to mean?’ he thought. He’d vaguely overheard the person on the phone mention something about hiring a vet.
"Let’s continue..." Miss Qiu said to Li Yang. "What do we do now?"
Li Yang chuckled. "There’s nothing else to do. Just play with him. As long as I’m here, he’ll play with you."
"Can I give him commands?" Miss Qiu’s eyes lit up.
"Give it a try..." Li Yang nodded.
"copper coins, spin for Mommy!" Miss Qiu said, her eyes full of expectation.
copper coins seemed to think for a moment, then looked at Li Yang.
"She’s your mom..." Li Yang said to copper coins. "Show her some respect. From now on, you do whatever she says, you hear?"
copper coins let out a squeak and actually spun around for Miss Qiu.
Miss Qiu jumped up in delight.
"Come on, spin for me again..." Miss Qiu happily continued to command copper coins.
And copper coins was very obedient, doing exactly as he was told.
Li Yang stood to the side, amused by the scene.
’He could sort of understand why people kept cats and dogs,’ he mused. ’When you live by yourself with no one else around, having a little animal for companionship is actually quite nice.’
"Um..." Seeing that copper coins was slowly getting used to things and would probably be fine without him, Li Yang was about to announce his departure.
But just as he stood up, there was a knock at the door.
Startled, copper coins scurried to the side.
Miss Qiu was a little annoyed. She opened the door, but upon seeing who it was, she managed to swallow her anger.
"Qiu Yi, I heard copper coins was misbehaving, right? I’ve come to teach him a lesson..." A man with slicked-back hair and a powdered face stood before Qiu Yi, holding a bouquet of flowers.
"Mr. Liang, there’s no need..." Miss Qiu said, swallowing her frustration.
Mr. Liang was about to say something more when he suddenly spotted Li Yang. His expression changed. "Who’s he? What is he doing in your apartment?"
Li Yang glanced at him. ’What I’m doing at her place is none of your damn business,’ he thought.
"Miss Qiu, it’s done. copper coins is fine now, so I’ll be on my way." He had no desire to get mixed up in this kind of affair, so he ignored the man, wanting only to leave as quickly as possible.
Qiu Yi, however, grew anxious, seemingly unwilling to let Li Yang leave. "I think copper coins still isn’t quite right. Why don’t you stay a little longer before you go?"
Li Yang was taken aback, but then he saw the pleading look in Miss Qiu’s eyes.
Li Yang’s heart softened. ’Looks like Qiu Yi really can’t stand this Mr. Liang guy,’ he thought.
"Alright, then..." Li Yang nodded.
Mr. Liang, however, got angry. He pointed at Li Yang and said, "You’re that vet, right? copper coins is fine now, so you can scram."
Li Yang chuckled and looked at him with amusement. "Whether I scram or not is none of your damn business, is it?"
"You!" Mr. Liang was furious, a flash of hatred in his eyes.
’You must have a death wish, talking to me like that.’
Li Yang just looked at him with a calm expression, ignoring him.
"Qiu Yi, why don’t we go out for dinner..." Mr. Liang had no choice but to speak again. "Come on, call your friends to join us. Everyone can come, my treat. Anyway, you all have to go to the exhibition the day after tomorrow, so this is a good chance for me to get to know them. Besides, if I hadn’t stepped in, would you all have even gotten this opportunity?"
Li Yang understood now. ’No wonder Qiu Yi is so tolerant of this guy. Turns out he has some influence,’ he thought.
Qiu Yi hesitated for a moment. Thinking about how she really couldn’t afford to offend him, she said, "Alright, let’s go to dinner. I’ll call my other friends."
Soon, Qiu Yi was on the phone, calling people one after another.
Meanwhile, Mr. Liang sat down, shooting Li Yang a disdainful look.
’Damn it, where did this little peasant come from, daring to try and steal my woman?’
Li Yang simply smiled faintly, paying no mind to Mr. Liang’s glare.
"They all agreed. Let’s go," Qiu Yi finally said.
"Alright, let’s go get something good to eat." Mr. Liang chuckled smugly. "Let’s go to... the Grand Golden Pavilion Hotel!"
Li Yang froze for a second. ’Looks like this guy is trying to take a jab at me,’ he thought.
"That’s so expensive..." Qiu Yi was stunned.
"Expensive? What’s so expensive about it!" Mr. Liang said, patting his chest. "Don’t worry, I can afford it. But you," he turned to Li Yang, "can you?"
Li Yang paused for a moment. "I never have to pay when I eat there."
"Haha..." Mr. Liang looked at Li Yang mockingly. "You’re really something else. ’Never have to pay’... Yeah, right... Have you even eaten there before?"
"I have," Li Yang said in a deadpan voice. "But when I eat that stuff, it’s just a regular meal for me. Not like you, who seems to think one meal there is a once-in-a-year celebration."
"You..." Mr. Liang was seething. ’This guy is way too good at posturing,’ he thought.
Qiu Yi was secretly pleased, but seeing Li Yang brag like that also left a slightly bad taste in her mouth.
’At the end of the day, he’s still a country boy who just loves to boast,’ she thought.
"Alright then, I’ll tell my friends to meet us there."
