The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 257 - 258: Speeding Up Production
Chapter 257: Chapter 258: Speeding Up Production
The moment he saw the reports, Director Xu slammed his hand on the table. "Excellent!"
He was already getting excited.
He had been in charge here for so many years. Every time something like this happened, all they could do was cull the birds to mitigate losses. But this time, he saw a glimmer of hope.
’I never would have dared to imagine this.’
Professor Jin gave a wry smile. It was all happening right in front of her, but for some reason, she still felt like she was dreaming.
’How is this possible? Did it really just happen like that?’
She couldn’t quite put her finger on the feeling. She walked over to Li Yang and asked, "I’m a bit curious. What’s in that feed that can eliminate the virus?"
Li Yang smiled and shook his head. "If you’re asking me, I’m not really sure myself... More importantly, it’s a trade secret. I’m allowed to keep it confidential, right?"
Director Xu walked over with a smile and clapped Li Yang on the shoulder. "That’s right. It’s your secret, so of course you can keep it confidential. You don’t have to tell us anything."
"That’s good..." Li Yang chuckled.
"Since it works, we’ll purchase your feed in bulk. Let me ask you, how much stock do you have on hand?"
"Er..." Li Yang sounded helpless. "Right now, I have a hundred bags of chicken feed in stock."
"What!" Director Xu panicked. "That’s all you have right now?"
"Mine isn’t even a real feed mill!" Li Yang said helplessly. "I just make feed for my own chickens and ducks, so I never mass-produced it..."
"Can you scale up production?" Director Xu asked urgently. "We’re dealing with such a widespread chicken plague here. The demand is huge. This amount definitely won’t be enough."
Li Yang thought for a moment and said, "If we rush production... all I can say is I’ll do my best."
"Do you need any help from me?" Professor Jin spoke up. "If you do, just let me know."
"How about this? I’ll head back and check on things first..." Li Yang said after a moment’s thought. "I’ll see what the situation is and then give you a call."
"Okay!" Director Xu said happily. "Please hurry. Consider it a favor to everyone."
Li Yang nodded and drove away.
Director Xu laughed heartily and called Shen Xu. "Xiaoxu, you’re really something else! As soon as he made his move, he solved our chicken plague problem. It’s fantastic!"
"That’s great!" Shen Xu was happy for them too.
After hanging up, Professor Jin said with a smile, "Director Xu, do you have any thoughts now?"
"Huh?" Director Xu, still lost in his earlier joy, was stunned for a moment and didn’t catch the underlying meaning of her words.
"The feed!" Professor Jin reminded him. "Ningzhou is a major city for animal husbandry. The industry generates huge revenue every year, but our city doesn’t have any reputable feed brands to speak of. Now that Mr. Li’s feed is so effective, why don’t you support him?"
It dawned on Director Xu. He smiled and said, "Does he even need our support? By the way, you wanted to open a similar factory too, right?"
"That’s right!" Professor Jin nodded. "The reason I joined your special task force was to collect data. I’ve told you before: in animal husbandry, chicken plagues are extremely common. Whenever there’s an outbreak, it causes massive losses, and the main problem is that there’s no way to suppress it. I’ve wanted to develop a feed like this for a while, something that acts like a vaccine. But to be honest, I thought it was just a pipe dream. But this guy has shown me that it’s not a pipe dream. There’s a real chance of success."
Director Xu chuckled and slapped his thigh. "How on earth did this guy do it? He actually pulled it off. I can’t even imagine."
Professor Jin shook her head. Naturally, she couldn’t figure it out either.
"Alright, you can just talk to him about it," Director Xu said earnestly. "Besides, as long as this chicken plague is resolved, I’m certain your product will sell like crazy! I also hope our city can have a feed mill like this."
"Okay!" Professor Jin nodded. "Let’s leave it at that for now and wait for news from his side."
Li Yang hurried back to the village. He first called Hua Lvlan to give her an update, then went to find Zhou Liyun.
"Sister-in-law Liyun, how are things going?" Li Yang entered the old village committee building. The machinery inside was rumbling loudly, and it was clear they were still processing the feed.
"We got your notice yesterday and we’re still rushing production," Zhou Liyun said, sounding a bit helpless. "But... we only have so much machinery. We can’t produce that much..."
Li Yang nodded. "I understand. Do your best to speed things up. Help me produce five hundred bags first so I can get some over to them and alleviate the situation. By the way, we have stock of the duck and fish feed, so you can pause production on those for now."
"Got it!" Zhou Liyun nodded. "So, we prioritize the chicken feed for now, right?"
"That’s right!"
The next day, Director Xu called Li Yang. "Alright, our convoy has arrived at your village. Come out and meet them."
