The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 255 - 256: Disbelief
Chapter 255: Chapter 256: Disbelief
Director Xu had expected their reaction, so he simply spread his hands and said, "I know how you feel. To be honest, I can hardly believe it myself, but it happened. There’s nothing to be done even if you don’t want to believe it."
He slid the lab reports into the middle of the group. "If you’re interested, take a look for yourselves. These are the two reports, before and after."
Professor Jin was the first to pick up the reports, reading them carefully. At first, she wondered if Director Xu was just spouting nonsense, but she was left speechless in the face of such irrefutable evidence.
She knew the people who produced these reports would never falsify the results.
’How is this possible!’
She passed the reports to the others.
As the others read them, they too began to murmur amongst themselves.
"What’s going on?"
"I don’t know. Something seems off!"
"This is just unbelievable!"
...
As they muttered, they all cast suspicious glances toward Li Yang.
"How did you cure them?" Although Director Xu hadn’t explicitly said it was Li Yang’s doing, everyone understood the implication, so they all turned to look at him.
Li Yang smiled. "I used a medicine."
Medicine?
"Is this medicine of yours safe? Does it have any side effects?" someone else immediately asked.
"The nutritional analysis is in there too. Their tests were very thorough..." Li Yang replied. "If you have any doubts, feel free to take a closer look at the reports."
"What medicine did you use to cure them?" Professor Jin couldn’t let it go.
She had just examined it with great care. There was something strange about the nutritional analysis—not that there was a problem, but that the results were simply too good!
’How is that possible!’
That was why, even now, she still found it hard to believe.
"I’m afraid that’s confidential." Li Yang shrugged, his expression matter-of-fact. "I’m willing to cure the farmers’ chickens, but that doesn’t mean I have to hand over my secret formula, right, Director Xu?"
Director Xu nodded.
"Director Xu, I don’t believe it," Professor Jin said with great seriousness. "I know the reports can’t be falsified, but my professional expertise tells me that this is virtually impossible. Therefore, I don’t believe it."
Director Xu laughed. "Whether you believe it or not is for you all to sort out."
"What will it take for you to believe me?" Li Yang asked after a moment of thought.
"Have you heard of Nanshan Chicken Farm?" Professor Jin asked intently.
Li Yang shook his head. ’How would I know about that?’
"It’s the largest chicken farm in the city. The value of their chickens is at least eight million yuan. A plague has broken out there as well. If you can really cure them, you can give it a try there. I’ll watch you do it. How about it?"
Li Yang was a little hesitant.
’I only came here to do Zeng Qing a favor, which in turn was also helping myself. I have no desire to be in the spotlight.’
"You said it’s your feed that does the curing, correct?" Professor Jin seemed to sense Li Yang’s hesitation and spoke again. "Well, what a coincidence. I’ve also been planning to develop a new type of feed recently. If your feed truly has such a miraculous effect, you could partner with me. You could develop a market for your feed right here and make a name for yourself overnight. What do you say?"
An idea sparked in Li Yang’s mind. ’She has a point.’
’Even though there’s a feed mill in the village now, it can only produce enough for my own needs at best. If I could scale up production... After all, with my increased planting, I have more raw materials. I could absolutely expand production.’
After thinking it over, Li Yang said, "Alright, I’ll do it."
Professor Jin turned to Director Xu and said crisply, "Director Xu, all this talk is pointless. Seeing is believing. Let’s do this: we’ll head to Nanshan Breeding Farm immediately. If he can actually cure the chickens, I’ll have nothing more to say."
"Alright!" Director Xu nodded immediately. "Perfect. You two can go and put it to the test together."
"Director Xu, I’ll have to go back and get the feed first..."
"That won’t be necessary," Director Xu said. "I’ll send a car to get it. It’ll be quick."
Li Yang had no choice but to wait.
They headed to Nanshan Breeding Farm first.
Once inside, Li Yang couldn’t help but be astonished.
’This place really is huge.’ But right now, all the chickens looked listless and sick.
The owner of Nanshan Breeding Farm, Lin Shu, wore a long, mournful face. Seeing Director Xu and Professor Jin arrive, he rushed forward. "Director Xu! You have to see this! All my chickens are like this now. If they really have to be culled... the losses will be catastrophic!"
Director Xu gave a wry smile. "We know, Mr. Lin. That’s why we’re trying to find a way to mitigate your losses. Look, this is the Mr. Li Yang I brought for you. He’s already cured the plague at the pheasant farm."
"What?" Lin Shu froze for a moment, staring at Li Yang in astonishment.
"Has the feed arrived yet?" Li Yang asked.
"It’ll be here soon..." Director Xu glanced at his watch. "It shouldn’t be much longer."
"Boss Lin, how about this: prepare a separate pen for us. It’d be best to fill it with the most severely ill chickens..." Li Yang got right to work.
