Chapter 187: Chapter 188: Aunt Rong Stays Overnight

Zhang Rong really was staying the night!

Luckily, Li Yang had a spare room, so Zhang Rong stayed at his place.

When Zhang Rong agreed, Li Yang was over the moon.

But Zhang Rong shot him a glare and said irritably, "Don’t get any funny ideas. It’s just too late to go home."

"Understood!" Li Yang laughed. "Aunt Rong, where’s your mind at... Oh, time to cook dinner. I’ll do it!"

"Like hell you can!" Aunt Rong immediately pushed him away. "You go pick the vegetables. I’ll cook."

"Aunt Rong, this isn’t like your place in the city with gas and all that. I’ve got a wood-fired stove here," Li Yang said.

"So what? You think I’ve never used one before?" Aunt Rong shook her head. "Get out of the way."

"You got it!"

Around seven in the evening, the food was ready.

Aunt Rong’s cooking was really something else. Even just the smell was exceptionally fragrant.

"Aunt Rong, come on, have a glass of water." Li Yang set out the bowls and chopsticks and poured her a glass.

Aunt Rong was indeed a bit thirsty. She drank the glass and said, "Let’s eat. I need to take a shower afterward."

"You got it!"

After dinner, Aunt Rong cleaned everything up and went to take a shower.

Li Yang, meanwhile, headed over to the small clinic.

Li Shunsheng was there, a rare sight. Li Yang quickly went over, offered him a cigarette, and then asked, "Uncle Shunsheng, I’m thinking of leasing the mountain over at Wushi Ridge. What do you think?"

"Lease it for what?" Li Shunsheng asked, a little puzzled.

"I want to raise pheasants!"

"Pheasants?" Li Shunsheng was stunned. "Xiaoyang, your business is doing quite well right now. I’ve heard from people that pheasants aren’t easy to raise. Are you sure?"

"I’m sure!" Li Yang nodded. "I’ve already asked around and found someone to help me raise them. I’ll just need to follow her instructions."

Li Shunsheng thought for a moment and said, "If you want to lease it, I certainly have no objections, but I think you should really think it through."

Li Yang had already become the pioneer of prosperity in their village, and it looked like he could even help others.

As the village chief, Li Shunsheng naturally hoped Li Yang’s business would grow more and more successful, which would mean greater hope for the village.

"Alright then!" Li Yang said with a smile. "Uncle Shunsheng, let’s sign a contract tomorrow."

"Okay!"

After seeing Li Shunsheng and the others off, Li Yang noticed how late it was and finally headed home.

When he got back, he saw that only one light was still on.

Clearly, Zhang Rong wasn’t asleep yet.

Li Yang thought for a moment, then knocked on Zhang Rong’s door.

The door opened with a CREAK. Zhang Rong stood there in her pajamas. "What do you want?"

"Aunt Rong, you’re still up..." Li Yang poked his head in, trying to squeeze his whole body through the gap.

But Zhang Rong held the door firm. "You little brat, what do you think you’re doing? Don’t you come in here."

Li Yang gave a sly grin. "I’ll just rub up against the edge, I promise I won’t come in."

"You little rascal!" Zhang Rong couldn’t handle his suggestive remarks. Annoyed, she reached out and smacked him on the head. "You’re getting more and more out of line! ’Rub up against the edge,’ huh? Where exactly do you plan on rubbing?"

Li Yang took two steps back. "Aunt Rong, I just wanted to come in and say something. What’s the rush?"

"Whatever you have to say, say it from out there." Aunt Rong didn’t trust him one bit.

’If I let you in... would I be able to walk out of here on my own two feet?’

She scoffed at the thought. ’Tsk! It feels like Li Yang is corrupting me, always making me think about these things.’

Li Yang was a little exasperated. He put on a shameless smile and said, "Aunt Rong, it might get a little chilly tonight. You should cover up well with the blanket. If you can’t manage it..."

BANG!

Aunt Rong slammed the door shut before he could even finish.

’Nothing good ever comes out of that boy’s mouth!’

Li Yang was helpless. ’Look at that,’ he thought. ’I just say one little thing and she gets mad.’

With no other choice, Li Yang could only return to his own room.

But with such a stunner living in his house—a stunner who wasn’t afraid to trade suggestive jokes with him, no less—Li Yang felt an itch in his heart. He was still wide awake at midnight.

DING!

Suddenly, he got a WeChat notification.

Li Yang picked up his phone and saw it was a message from Aunt Rong. He immediately sat up straight.

"Asleep yet?" Aunt Rong asked.

Li Yang’s eyes lit up. ’Oho, looks like Aunt Rong can’t sleep either.’

"Not yet. Can’t you sleep either, Aunt Rong? I could come over and we could have a heart-to-heart..." Li Yang replied cheekily.

"Good that you’re not asleep!" Aunt Rong seemed very satisfied with his answer.

Li Yang was a bit stunned. ’What does she mean by that?’

"Aunt Rong, what do you mean by that?" Li Yang didn’t get it and quickly sent her a message.

But several minutes passed with no response from Aunt Rong.

’What’s Aunt Rong up to? Did she just message me to say hi?’

Li Yang was completely baffled. He sent a few more messages, but still, there was no reply.

’Forget it. I’m ignoring you too.’

Li Yang gave up and prepared to go to sleep.

But just then, his phone suddenly went off. DING! DING! DING! The notifications were coming in like machine-gun fire from Aunt Rong.

Li Yang opened them and almost got a nosebleed.
