The Supreme Village Doctor
Chapter 155 - 156: Selling the Medicinal Liquor
Chapter 155: Chapter 156: Selling the Medicinal Liquor
He knew the cost would be higher than he’d anticipated, but he never imagined it would be this steep. It was far more than he could afford.
Over three million!
"Do you think it’s a bit expensive?" Liuwan asked calmly.
Li Yang gave a bitter smile and shook his head.
"It can’t be helped. The main buildings you’re planning are massive," Liuwan said, shaking her head. "I already fought to get you this price."
Li Yang understood. To be honest, Liuwan treated him very well.
"You don’t have to pay it all upfront," Liuwan said. "You can pay it off as you earn."
Li Yang felt helpless. He had originally just wanted to earn enough to pave the road, but now it seemed like he’d never be able to scrape together the funds. Yet, he had to open this manor.
"Manager Liu, let’s go with this plan," he said, gritting his teeth. "I’ll give you a thirty-percent down payment, and I’ll earn the rest."
"No problem!" Liuwan nodded.
Soon, Liuwan left.
The plans for the elementary school were finalized and materials were already being delivered. But since school wasn’t out for the summer yet, construction couldn’t begin. His manor, on the other hand, wasn’t constrained by school holidays. Work could officially start at any time.
After thinking for a moment, Li Yang grabbed a few bottles of medicinal wine and went to Hidden Dragon Manor.
"President Li..." Shang Hongyun beamed when she saw Li Yang, clearly delighted.
"Proprietress, have you sold out of the medicinal wine?" Li Yang asked.
"Completely sold out..." the proprietress said at once. "Do you have any more? I need another batch! We still have customers asking about it, though not as many as before..."
Li Yang nodded. That made sense. A single shop like this only had so much foot traffic.
"Here, take this one!" Li Yang handed her a bottle of medicinal wine. "Sell it as soon as you can. I really need the money right now."
"Has work on the manor started?" the proprietress asked in surprise.
Li Yang nodded. "That’s right, work has begun."
"Alright!" The proprietress nodded and immediately transferred 500,000 yuan to him. "Three hundred thousand of this is my investment contribution, and the other two hundred thousand is what I owe you from the wine sales."
Li Yang didn’t stand on ceremony. There was no need for such formalities between them, so he accepted it.
"Alright, you just focus on selling here. I’m going to check on some other places." With that, Li Yang was gone.
After leaving, he went straight to the Xue Chu Medicine Restaurant to give her the medicinal wine.
"Is this the medicinal wine you were talking about?" Zhao Xuechu asked, a little surprised.
Li Yang nodded. "Sell it as fast as you can. I need a lot of money."
"Okay!" Zhao Xuechu nodded. Seeing that Li Yang was genuinely worried, she asked, "Do you need money that badly? If so, I can give you an advance on your share of the restaurant’s profits..."
Li Yang shook his head. "No, let’s not do that. It isn’t time for profit-sharing. It wouldn’t be right—it sets a bad precedent."
With that, Li Yang left.
Zhao Xuechu was a little surprised and didn’t know what to say.
In the end, he had two jars of medicinal wine left.
’Hidden Dragon Manor couldn’t possibly repeat the explosive customer growth of the first day. The last round had basically pulled in all the potential customers, leaving little room for future growth.’
’As for Xue Chu’s place, even with its popular medicine cuisine, the potential profit was likely comparable to Hidden Dragon Manor’s.’
As he was thinking, his eyes suddenly lit up.
’Where was the most direct customer base likely to be found? The hospital!’
’But a hospital would never let him recommend this stuff, much less partner with him.’
’But there was another place... a pharmacy!’
’Pharmacies are always crowded, and people go there because they have a specific need.’
At this thought, he clapped his hands. He Weiweng came to mind.
’That old fox tried to buy the secret recipe for the medicinal wine from him last time, and I taught him a good lesson. He’s been behaving himself since then.’
’But the very fact he came asking for the recipe means he sees its value. I can’t let that opportunity go to waste.’
So, Li Yang immediately went to find him.
Hundred Herbs Hall was certainly booming. As one of Ruizhou’s major pharmacies, it was packed with people when Li Yang arrived. They were there not just to buy medicine, but also for consultations.
Hundred Herbs Hall had set up seven or eight consultation rooms to serve these patients, but even so, there was still a line.
It couldn’t be helped. The hospitals were overflowing with people, and the lines there were even harder to endure, so some people chose to come to pharmacies instead.
Li Yang took it all in. ’This has great potential,’ he thought.
So he immediately went up to the counter. "Where’s your boss?"
The boss?
He Weiweng was there as well, and when he saw Li Yang walk in, his legs nearly gave out.
His leg had almost healed, but the psychological trauma remained.
He had never been able to figure out why his leg had suddenly started to rot last time. In the end, he’d reached a single conclusion: Li Yang must have poisoned him.
But this was just a suspicion. He only dared to think it, never to say it aloud. He had no proof.
Deep down, however, he was truly terrified of Li Yang. Now, seeing him walk in, his heart began to tremble. He quickly hurried forward and asked, "Divine Doctor Li, what brings you here?"
