Chapter 104: Chapter 105: What a Coincidence

"Yeah!" At some point, a crowd had gathered. Seeing Li Yang beat up the hooligans, they all started clapping and cheering.

It seemed these hooligans had done plenty to earn the public’s wrath.

"You!" The middle-aged man was sweating from the pain. He pointed at Li Yang and said, "Don’t get cocky. You just wait."

Just then, the market’s security guards arrived.

"What’s going on here?" one of them, who looked to be the security chief, barked in their direction.

"He hit us!" The middle-aged man played the victim, pointing the finger first. "We were just standing here, and he attacked us."

The security chief glanced at Li Yang and Aunt Rong. "Come on. Let’s go to my office."

Li Yang wasn’t afraid. Aunt Rong would still need to shop here in the future, so this matter had to be settled for good. He immediately pulled Aunt Rong along with him.

The hooligans moved even faster, walking alongside the security guards and whispering something.

Li Yang listened closely and realized they were talking about him.

And from how they addressed him, he figured out that the security chief was actually the middle-aged man’s older cousin.

Li Yang froze. ’Damn it,’ he thought. ’No wonder you guys are so arrogant. You have someone backing you up.’

"Xiaoyang, something doesn’t feel right," Aunt Rong said, seeing how friendly they were. She tried to persuade Li Yang, "Maybe we should just go."

"Go?" Li Yang scoffed. "If we leave now, what are you going to do when you need to buy groceries later? I’m not leaving until this is settled."

Zhang Rong’s heart warmed. She hadn’t expected Li Yang to be so considerate of her future.

The more she thought about it, the more she liked what she saw in him.

Once inside the security office, the chief put his cup on the desk, glanced at them, and finally fixed his gaze on Li Yang. "Alright, how do you want to solve this?"

"He beat us!" the middle-aged man immediately chimed in as if they had rehearsed it. "He beat us up this badly. He has to pay!"

"That’s right, he has to pay!"

...

The henchmen all started clamoring in agreement.

"See?" The security chief frowned, putting on a show of impartiality. "You did hit them, after all. You should at least cover their medical expenses, right?"

"No!" Aunt Rong refused. "How can you say that? They started it!"

"Then how much do you think I should pay?" Li Yang asked in return.

The security chief was already laughing inwardly. ’This guy is such a pushover. I might as well squeeze him for more.’

"There are several of them, and look what you did to them. They’ll need to go to the hospital for check-ups, and they’ll need money for recovery supplements. How about this... ten thousand yuan each," the security chief said.

"Why don’t you just rob us instead!" Aunt Rong’s face went pale with anger.

"You’re quite the operator, aren’t you? Getting your cousin such a nice payout. You must be getting a cut, right?" Li Yang asked coldly.

The security chief was startled, then immediately barked, "What did you say? Watch your mouth!"

Just then, several people walked in through the door.

"Section Chief Jia!" a middle-aged man at the door said. "Come, come, this is Officer Shen. She’s here to talk to us about market regulations, particularly security. We’ve already received complaints that this place isn’t very safe."

"Yes, yes, of course. I’m in the middle of reprimanding someone right now. This is the one who was fighting in our market!" Section Chief Jia said, pointing at Li Yang.

"You again?" Of the two police officers who entered, one was, to his surprise, Shen Xu.

"What a coincidence!" Li Yang was stunned for a moment, then immediately pointed at Section Chief Jia. "Perfect timing. I want to report him for colluding with his cousin to harass women in the market. And also, for ganging up to attack me just now!"

Section Chief Jia froze. ’How does this guy know this woman?’

"Is that so?" Shen Xu narrowed her eyes.

"Just now, outside..." Li Yang recounted what had just happened, without any exaggeration, simply stating the facts.

"So you’re the gang responsible!" Shen Xu slammed her hand on the table after listening. "I bet you’re the ones people have been complaining about."

"And he’s this man’s older cousin," Li Yang added, pointing at Section Chief Jia. "I bet it’s because of him that these guys dare to be so arrogant."

"No, it’s all a misunderstanding!" Section Chief Jia was scared out of his wits.

"Manager Xu!" Shen Xu said angrily. "Your market is a real mess. I can’t believe this kind of thing is happening here. I’m going to have to report this to my superiors. This place might need to be shut down for rectification."

Manager Xu nearly jumped out of his skin. He slapped Section Chief Jia across the face. "Damn you, you degenerate! Officer Shen, I’ll fire him right now. I’ll kick all these loiterers out. Really. There’s no need for a rectification, right?"

Shen Xu was really just trying to scare him, so seeing him handle it this way, she nodded. "Alright. Since you understand, we’ll let it go this time. By the way, I have a few photos here. Keep an eye on the people coming in and out, and see if you spot any of them."

With that, Shen Xu put the photos down.

"Yes, yes, of course! I will!" Manager Xu nodded repeatedly. Then he turned to Section Chief Jia and his cronies and roared, "What are you still standing here for? Get out!"

Section Chief Jia was filled with immense regret. ’Fuck... Of all the people to mess with, I had to go and provoke a big shot!’

So much regret!
