Chen Ruyue had also stopped.
She was watching Yun Che’s hands.
"I think the same."
Su Meilin looked at her as Chen Ruyue continued:
"I know these ingredients. Some of these steps require extremely high precision. Even someone who has studied extensively would not be able to execute them this way without sufficient experience."
She narrowed her eyes.
"His decisions are too accurate."
Su Meilin remained silent. That observation had also crossed her mind.
Yun Che continued refining until the spiritual sphere finally began to rotate, and a thin layer of light covered its surface.
The furnace formation stabilized, signaling that the pill was ready. Yun Che removed it.
A small spiritual sphere rested in his palm. It was perfect, with no visible impurities.
The child appeared before him and merely observed the pill for a few seconds before smiling.
"Incredible. Your talent is on another level. Even for a renowned alchemist, refining a pill with zero impurities is almost impossible."
Yun Che put the pill away.
"I merely corrected the mistake."
The child shook her head.
"No. Correcting a mistake would mean repeating the process and trying not to make the same mistake again."
She pointed toward the furnace.
"You did more than that. You understood why you failed and changed the way you executed it."
Yun Che remained silent as the child smiled.
"That’s different."
Yun Che replied:
"A second attempt allows you to correct things that the first attempt did not."
The child began to laugh.
"You really like hiding things behind simple answers."
She tilted her head.
"But that’s fine. For now, I’ll accept it."
The floor disappeared once again. Everything turned white. Yun Che felt his body being transported, and when he opened his eyes, he was in another hall.
This time, there were only six large tables.
The reduced number immediately made some participants realize that many people had been eliminated.
The lights above their heads confirmed it. Several participants had disappeared, especially among the Medusas.
But there were also cultivators from the Profound Flower Sect who were no longer present.
The child appeared in the center. She still possessed the same childlike appearance as before, but her gaze was now more attentive.
"Very well. Let us begin the second practical test."
A huge image appeared in the air, displaying the body of a cultivator whose spiritual channels could be seen clearly.
The meridians were marked, and the spiritual core glowed faintly as the child pointed toward the image.
"As you can see, this cultivator has suffered a serious injury."
The image changed, and several meridians appeared cracked.
"His spiritual energy is low."
Another change occurred.
"The meridians are unstable."
"And he has just used a technique that consumed an enormous amount of energy."
Guo Han studied the image for several seconds.
"Then we need to produce a recovery pill to reverse the damage caused by the loss of spiritual energy."
The child smiled.
"You continue trying to find simple and logical answers."
Guo Han frowned.
"Then it isn’t a recovery pill?"
"It is."
The child pointed toward the image.
"But you don’t simply need to produce a recovery pill."
She looked at everyone.
"You need to produce a pill suitable for this cultivator."
The hall fell silent as Lian Yue approached the image, her expression becoming serious.
She observed the meridians for several seconds before speaking:
"If the recovery is too fast, the damaged spiritual channels won’t be able to withstand the sudden increase in energy."
Chen Ruyue nodded.
"Then an ordinary recovery pill could restore the energy while simultaneously worsening the patient’s condition."
Lian Yue pointed toward a region of the image.
"Exactly. The problem isn’t merely the amount of energy that is missing. The body is restricting the circulation because the meridians are damaged."
Guo Han crossed his arms.
"Then we need a gradual recovery, allowing the meridians to adapt before increasing the flow again."
Lian Yue replied:
"Yes. And there is another issue. His spiritual energy is extremely disorganized. If the pill simply pours energy into the core, part of it could conflict with the existing circulation."
Su Meilin added:
"That could cause an internal reaction."
Chen Ruyue began selecting the ingredients.
"We need something that restores energy without causing an immediate discharge."
She raised a herb.
"Arctic Sandalulu can serve that purpose."
Then she picked up another.
"Catuluculuco can help with the recovery of the meridians."
Guo Han examined the ingredients.
"But the two cannot be fused directly."
Chen Ruyue nodded.
"The absorption would be too fast."
Guo Han pointed toward another ingredient.
"Then we need a stabilizer."
Zhao Ming watched everything.
After listening to the discussion, he picked up several ingredients.
"You’re making this more complicated than it needs to be."
Guo Han looked at him.
"Then explain."
Zhao Ming replied:
"We know the patient needs to recover energy slowly. We know the meridians need to be protected and that the spiritual circulation is unstable. So all we need to do is control the amount of energy restored at each stage."
Guo Han replied:
"That’s part of the solution, not the complete solution."
Zhao Ming smiled.
"I know that very well."
He placed the ingredients in front of the furnace.
"But while you continue discussing every possibility, I would rather find out what works."
The child observed him.
"All this confidence of yours is going to cause you trouble someday."
Zhao Ming replied without even looking at her:
"If I were afraid of making mistakes, I wouldn’t have entered this mausoleum. An alchemist must not be afraid of failure."
The child smiled.
"I like that answer."
Zhao Ming lit the furnace.
"Then watch as your father claims his legacy."
His speed was impressive. He purified two herbs almost simultaneously while controlling the flame with great precision.
He fused the first essences as the core began to form, and then Zhao Ming smiled.
"See? The foundation is correct."
Guo Han observed.
"Wait a moment, that is..."
Zhao Ming did not stop.
"You always like to wait."
"The essence hasn’t stabilized yet."
"I know. So what? I can simplify the process."
Zhao Ming slightly increased his spiritual control.
"That’s why I’ll stabilize it now."
The core oscillated as Zhao Ming immediately changed the circulation, and for a moment, it seemed to work.
Then the energy exploded inward.
BOOM!
The furnace trembled as the pill turned into powder. Zhao Ming stepped back, his smile disappearing.
"I missed the critical moment. Damn it."
Guo Han replied:
"Not just the timing. You tried to stabilize the energy after it had already begun reacting."
Zhao Ming looked at him.
"I realized that, but if the critical moment had been one second later, I would have succeeded."
Guo Han did not continue. The child, however, approached.
"You came close."
Zhao Ming replied:
"I don’t need you to console me."
"I’m not consoling you."
The child looked at the destroyed furnace.
"I’m saying that you came close. But coming close doesn’t produce a pill."
