Chapter 45: 45 The Medusa Territory

45

The Medusa Territory

After two days of crossing the mountains, they finally reached their destination.

The rocky formations had become much larger and closer together, creating natural corridors between the enormous peaks.

Narrow paths had been carved into the mountain slopes, while wooden and stone bridges connected different levels of the mountains.

This time, Seraphina walked ahead.

Despite her exhaustion, her posture had changed since leaving the battlefield. She was still cautious around Yun Che, but now she walked like someone who was returning home.

Lyria followed beside her.

The bodyguard still carried signs of her recent injuries, yet she constantly kept her eyes on the mountain slopes, knowing that they were close.

Then a sound traveled through the mountains. A long whistle echoed through the area, and Seraphina immediately stopped.

Lyria raised her head. A few seconds later, several figures appeared atop the rocks, enchanting women whose captivating beauty carried an alluring sexuality.

They were Medusas.

Some held spiritual weapons, while others kept their hands close to their bodies, ready to use their techniques. Their eyes immediately fixed themselves on Yun Che.

More specifically, on the white mask with a red stripe that he was wearing.

Then their gazes shifted to the undead accompanying him, and the atmosphere changed.

The small snakes in the hair of several Medusas simultaneously rose in a threatening manner.

One of them stepped forward.

"Princess, are you alright?!"

The beautiful woman’s voice carried relief, but that relief disappeared as soon as her eyes returned to Yun Che.

"Who is this man, and what are those abominations behind him? Why do they possess such a brutal death aura?"

Seraphina answered before anyone else could speak.

"He brought us back. He saved our lives. They are our benefactors."

The Medusas fell silent, remaining completely alert to any movement from the abominations before them.

One of them looked at Lyria, then at the torn clothes of the two women, and finally at Yun Che.

"Him?"

"Yes."

Seraphina took a deep breath.

"As I already said, we were saved by him and his summons."

The word seemed to cause even more discomfort. One of the Medusas tightened her grip on her weapon.

"That spiritual death energy... He is a necromancer, isn’t he?"

Yun Che did not answer. There was no need for him to do so. Seraphina stepped forward.

"Yes, he is. But that does not change the fact that he saved us."

Her voice became firmer.

"Not to mention that he has an agreement with me."

The Medusa seemed about to protest, but Seraphina continued.

"He escorted us here when we could have been killed by the Lizardmen, the Beastmen, or the beasts in this region."

She looked at her own warriors.

"I will honor my commitment to my mother and the Council of Elders."

Lyria finally spoke.

"He was not the one who attacked us. On the contrary, we were saved twice and escorted back by him, whether he is a necromancer or not."

The words were simple, but they were enough. The Medusas exchanged glances. There was distrust, but none of them could ignore the fact that the princess and her bodyguard were alive.

After several seconds, one of the warriors lowered her weapon.

"We should immediately inform the elders of the princess’s return."

Seraphina nodded.

"Do it."

"However, the undead cannot enter," she said, pointing toward the figures beside Yun Che.

"....."

"That’s fine."

Before anyone could say anything, Yun Che spoke first, and everyone immediately fell silent.

The small formation opened, and Yun Che began walking.

Kael walked behind him. Eryon observed the mountains, Morcant remained silent, and Valeria analyzed the surroundings.

Nefrava kept several bandages prepared, but Yun Che raised a hand.

"Wait."

The five stopped.

"I won’t need you for now."

Kael slowly turned his head.

"My master, allow us to accompany you and ensure your safety."

"That won’t be necessary."

Yun Che looked at the five.

"If I need you, I will call you immediately."

Kael remained motionless for several seconds before deeply bowing his head.

"As you command, my master."

Eryon did the same.

"Naturally, my master."

Valeria delicately crossed her hands.

"As you wish."

Nefrava merely smiled.

Morcant was the last.

"We will be with you the instant you call us, my master."

Then the five began to disappear.

Their bodies transformed into black mist one after another, and the smoke was absorbed into Yun Che’s body.

[Five undead successfully stored.]

[Current capacity: 5/5.]

The sensation disappeared almost immediately. The Medusas watched the scene with complicated expressions on their beautiful faces.

Even Seraphina remained silent for several seconds. Yun Che noticed.

"Can we go now?"

"Yes, of course. We can go."

Yun Che continued walking. The farther they advanced, the more apparent the scale of the territory became.

The mountains were full of life. There were houses built directly into the rocky walls, small natural squares, covered passages, and platforms where Medusas worked. Some carried herbs, others transported spiritual crystals, while some treated wounded individuals who had returned from the battle zones.

Several Medusas watched Yun Che from a distance. Yun Che, however, silently observed everything.

This was not simply a tribe. It seemed to be a properly organized society, with defenses, production, people who depended on that territory to survive, and something even more important.

The Medusas were prepared for war.

At several points throughout the mountains, defensive positions had been established. Rocks reinforced with spiritual formations stood along the paths, while certain routes could easily be blocked.

Seraphina noticed Yun Che’s gaze.

"We are like this because the Lizardmen and Beastmen continue trying to advance."

"Because of the mausoleum?"

"Mainly."

She looked upward.

"The Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist is inside our mountains."

Yun Che followed her gaze.

"They want to take both your territory and the mausoleum at the same time."

"Exactly."

With that, Seraphina’s expression became serious.

"They want to take everything from us at all costs. However, they have not succeeded despite their alliance."

Yun Che remained silent, thinking about what might be hidden inside the Great Alchemist’s mausoleum.

Recipes, knowledge, refining methods, and spiritual herbs.

A legacy left behind by an ancient expert.

After some time, they reached a much busier area. Several Medusas had gathered there.

Some were talking while others openly watched Yun Che. When Seraphina appeared, several people approached.

"Princess!"

"Lyria!"

"Thank the heavens!"

"You’re alive!"

For a few moments, the tension was replaced by growing relief. Seraphina was surrounded by several Medusas who wanted to know what had happened.

She answered only what was necessary.

"We were captured, but we were saved."

Then she looked at Yun Che.

"He saved us and escorted us back safely."

One of the Medusas looked at him with interest.

"A male human?"

"He brought us here safely."

Yun Che observed the scene. The princess was fulfilling her part of the agreement, using her own authority to ensure that he could remain inside the territory.

That made the situation much more convenient. Yun Che looked at the mountains again.
