THE SUPREME NECROMANCER: SYSTEM FORCED DUAL CULTIVATION TO LEVEL UP
Chapter 42 Making a deal with Princess Medusa
Chapter 42: 42 Making a deal with Princess Medusa
42 Making a deal with Princess Medusa
The princess stiffened, her serpentine body bristling all over, and the lady bodyguard immediately stepped in front of her.
Kael took a step, only one, but the heavy sound of his boot striking the ground made the woman freeze in place.
"Do not abuse my master’s patience." The Revenant’s deep voice caused the tension inside the tent to rise.
The Medusa lady bodyguard did not respond when Valeria slightly lowered her head.
"If you decide to oppose my master again, there will be no need for an order for me to cut out your tongues."
The princess looked at Valeria, then Kael, and finally at Yun Che.
"Do you control them?"
"Control is not the correct word." Morcant finally spoke, his black Soul Devourer eyes fixed upon the two women.
"We are the master’s servants, not mere puppets that need to be controlled."
The princess became even paler when Eryon lightly struck his staff against the ground.
"My master gave us purpose. Our loyalty is not something any outsider can question."
Yun Che raised one hand.
"Enough. That’s enough."
The five immediately fell silent. The princess watched them carefully.
These did not seem to be simple corpses like those necromancers and liches from the stories were said to summon. Each one behaved like a real person.
If not for their appearances and the deathly energy each of them emanated, she would have thought they were people rather than undead.
Looking closely, they possessed consciousness, personalities, and enough autonomy to make decisions within the orders they had received.
But even possessing these characteristics, none of them hesitated whenever Yun Che spoke.
The relationship between them was far deeper than she had imagined. She then breathed slowly.
"Would you really do that?"
Yun Che understood the question.
"Kill you and turn you into undead?"
She nodded.
"If necessary, yes. But it is not something I want to do. That is why I am having this conversation with you."
The princess closed her eyes for several seconds, and when she opened them again, there was something different in them.
"My name is Seraphina."
She paused briefly.
"Seraphina."
The very way she pronounced the name seemed to remind her of who she was.
"I am a princess of the Medusa Tribe."
Yun Che simply nodded and looked at the lady bodyguard.
"I am Lyria, the princess’s bodyguard."
Yun Che showed no particular reaction to the title. To him, princess or not, she was still someone who possessed information he needed and might be useful to him.
"You don’t seem impressed by learning who we are."
"Should I be? I am not your subordinate or anything like that. So whether you are a princess or not changes nothing for me."
The question caught Seraphina off guard for a moment, and she almost smiled bitterly.
"You shouldn’t. You are right."
She looked at her own hands.
"At this moment, I don’t think my title is worth anything at all."
Yun Che did not respond.
Seraphina continued:
"We were captured while trying to return to our territory. After that, we were brought here. We don’t know how many enemies there are..."
Her voice began to tremble. Lyria discreetly touched her arm, and Seraphina took a deep breath and regained control.
"So don’t think we can tell you everything about this place. We ourselves don’t know what happened during the last few hours."
"I understand."
Yun Che finally asked the question that interested him the most.
"What do you know? I want you to tell me everything you know about this Secret Realm."
The small snakes in Seraphina’s hair became restless, and Lyria immediately looked at her.
"All right," the princess said.
"I will tell you everything I know without revealing the secrets of my race. Do you accept this arrangement?" She looked cautiously at Yun Che and his subordinates.
Yun Che nodded slightly. "You can tell me what you know. I will not pursue the secrets of your race."
Yun Che remained silent, organizing everything he had heard from the Medusa princess.
The information from the Soul Devourer filled in the gaps, revealing a structure far more dangerous than it appeared. The more he thought about it, the more he realized that this small world concealed an ancient struggle.
Five intelligent races inhabited the Secret Realm: Medusas, Beastmen, Earth Elementals, Fire Elementals, and Lizardmen.
None of them possessed enough territory to ignore the others, and resources were limited as well. That was why conflicts over territory and resources occurred constantly.
The Medusas primarily occupied mountainous regions, using caves, valleys, and cliffs as their main settlements.
The Earth Elementals dominated regions rich in minerals, while the Fire Elementals occupied areas filled with blazing energy.
The Beastmen and Lizardmen controlled other territories, but there was an important difference.
Yun Che narrowed his eyes as he recalled the most important piece of information. Of the five races, only three possessed something that the other two could never obtain within their own territories.
Three mausoleums existed in that world, and each one guarded the legacy of an ancient expert.
The first was located in the Medusas’ mountains: the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist.
The second was in the territory of the Fire Elementals: the Mausoleum of the Lord of Lightning. And the third remained among the Earth Elementals: the Mausoleum of the Earth Emperor.
The Beastmen and Lizardmen possessed no mausoleum. Yun Che immediately understood the problem.
The three mausoleums did not remain open permanently. They entered their opening phase only during a specific period, and, coincidentally, the disciples of the Profound Flower Sect had entered the Secret Realm at exactly that moment.
It was not a prophecy, nor was there any special connection to him. It was simply the natural functioning of that world.
However, for the five races, that moment transformed their old territorial disputes into a competition for survival and power.
What the princess was explaining had also been reported by the Soul Devourer, which had added something even more concerning.
The Beastmen and Lizardmen were simultaneously attacking the Medusas’ territory.
Their objectives differed in the details, but converged on the same point: the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist.
Yun Che understood why.
A great alchemy legacy could contain pill recipes, refinement methods, knowledge of spiritual herbs, and techniques capable of completely altering a race’s power.
For the Profound Flower Sect, that was precious. For the Medusas, however, it meant something even simpler: preventing outsiders from stealing a treasure located on their own land.
Now that Yun Che understood the true situation, he did not respond immediately.
"Very well. Is that all you have to say?"
There was still much Yun Che needed to know, but at least now he could formulate a course of action based on what he had discovered.
"I have a proposal for you." He stared directly at the princess and the bodyguard, who exchanged glances before one of them cautiously spoke.
"What proposal are you referring to?"
"Considering your condition and your injuries, you won’t be able to reach the mountainous region where your Medusa clan is located."
Yun Che paused briefly as he put on his white mask.
"If you try to return alone, you will be killed by the savage beasts or by the other races."
The two said nothing.
"I will escort you safely to the Medusas’ territory."
The snakes on their heads hissed softly as the lady bodyguard hurriedly asked:
"What will you want in return?"
Yun Che smiled.
"Entry into the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist. Considering that I have already saved your lives and will still be escorting both of you back, that should be a fairly reasonable price."
The two exchanged glances before the princess looked at Yun Che and then at the undead behind the man.
"We accept your proposal."
Yun Che nodded slightly and ordered one of his knights to free the two women.
The mummy’s bandages solved the problem almost instantly. At her master’s request, she also helped treat the injuries of the two women.
Some time later, they were walking out of the horrors of the battlefield. The two women looked at the corpses with their brows furrowed, unsure whether they should be relieved or not.
The escort formation was organized.
Kael kept his fists clenched, alert to any movement.
Eryon analyzed the surroundings, Valeria watched the darkness, Nefrava kept her bandages ready, and Morcant searched for any presence that might threaten his master.
None of them needed to receive an order to understand what they had to do.
Seraphina looked at those five beings and then at Yun Che. She was still afraid.
But now she had a promise with the mysterious necromancer. When they reached the tribe, she would fulfill her part of the agreement.
She herself would ensure that the strange necromancer was granted permission to enter the Mausoleum of the Great Alchemist.
