The Smiling Death
Chapter 613: Bye!!
"Wow, this is peak." Amon stared at the results displayed on his pager, a wide grin spreading across his face.
"I got third rank. Not bad, hehe!"
"Tch! Next semester, I'll be rank one!" Marcus declared, clenching his fist with determination.
Amon simply smiled. The final examination of the third semester had concluded, and the results were already out already.
Seraphina had secured first place, Arnold had taken second, and Amon had finished third.
To be honest, Amon had a chance of taking second place—and perhaps even first.
Unfortunately, the examination had taken place during the daytime. Without the boost he received from being in dark, his strength was lower than it would have been at night. On top of that, he couldn't use his Blood Manipulation in exam.
That was an ability he still needed to keep hidden from others since it would bring unnecessary troubles.
And then there were those two monsters. Arnold and Seraphina.
Arnold was a System user, and the ridiculous things his System could provide him with gave him a significant advantage to become so much stronger.
Amon had no doubt that Arnold was much stronger than he appeared. But if Amon had to choose the real monster between the two.
It was Seraphina.
Everyone knew she was a once-in-a-generation genius, just like her grandfather. She possess no system like him.
The sword she had used against Alaric was the same sword she had used against Arnold and she had defeated him with it.
This time, the examination had been a race. The students had to reach the final point while also eliminating other participants along the way.
And somehow, Amon had ended up in third place. All because of that bastard Arnold.
He still wanted to curse him.
Amon had planned everything carefully. He had even managed to fight Arnold, but somehow, Seraphina had ended up joining the battle as well.
Seeing the situation becoming troublesome, Amon who was exceptionally good at running away when necessary had taken the opportunity to escape.
Unfortunately, he had no idea what kind of terrible luck he possessed.
Arnold actually chased after him, leaving the battle with Seraphina behind.
In the end, Seraphina crossed the finish line first despite Arnold and Amon being ahead. All because the boost she got from that divine sword she summoned.
Arnold followed. And Amon arrived just behind him.
'I should have used my new technique that I learned. I definitely would have won.'
But that technique was another secret Amon had decided to keep hidden.
Using it during the daytime wasn't a good idea anyway. Without enough darkness, maintaining the technique for an extended period was difficult. If he combined it with Blood Manipulation, however, its power could increase significantly.
At night, things would be different.
"Tch! You're still fourth, so be happy with that," Aisha growled from the side.
Marcus turned toward her with an annoyed expression.
"You say that like you're doing much better. You're fifth!"
Aisha's eyebrow twitched.
Eliana, meanwhile, had secured sixth place and didn't seem particularly concerned about the rankings.
The group walked toward the academy gates, preparing to leave for their respective homes for the vacation.
Julia wasn't with them. She had already left earlier.
Amon, however, was staying behind.
"You really don't want to come?"
Seraphina looked at him, her golden eyes carrying a faint hint of disappointment.
She had invited Amon to spend the vacation at her family's estate.
And hell no. There was absolutely no way Amon was going there.
If her father found out about their relationship, he would probably be dead before the vacation even ended.
"Well, I thought you were going to visit my house this summer," Marcus said, looking at Amon.
The young man simply smiled.
"Well, I have something I need to take care of, so not this time. But I'll definitely visit during the next holiday."
The group finally reached the academy gates.
Amon turned toward Marcus and pulled him into a friendly hug.
"I hope you have a nice holiday with Julia. You should invite her to your house."
"Bastard!"
Marcus immediately complained, but Amon only chuckled.
He then turned toward Eliana.
"I'll miss you, Amon," Eliana said with her usual cheerful smile. "If you get the chance, come visit the Elven Kingdom!"
"Of course I will, my princess."
Eliana smiled brightly at that. Then Amon's attention shifted toward Aisha.
She immediately looked away when their eyes met.
Amon smiled. He walked toward her. Before Aisha could figure out what he was planning, Amon wrapped his arms around her.
"Huh?!"
Aisha's eyes widened in surprise.
"I'll miss you, Wolfy!"
"Hey! What are you doing?!"
Her face turned bright red as she struggled to maintain her composure.
Amon simply tightened his embrace and rubbed his cheek against hers.
Aisha's ears twitched violently, and her tail began swaying rapidly behind her.
She could have pushed him away. But she didn't.
"Okay, I get it! That's enough. Seraphina is looking."
Amon finally released her. "Hehe~ I asked her beforehand, and she said it was okay."
Aisha glanced toward Seraphina. "Seriously..."
Eliana chuckled. "Sera really is something."
Marcus clicked his tongue. "I think this man is simply crazy. Who just hugs a woman out of nowhere?"
Amon ignored his complaint and turned toward Seraphina.
She stood there with the same calm, almost emotionless expression on her beautiful face. But Amon knew her well enough to notice the faint hint of jealousy in her eyes.
Amon smiled. He walked over and wrapped his arms tightly around her.
Her soft body pressed against his as he buried his face in her golden-blonde hair and quietly inhaled her familiar scent.
"I'll miss you the most."
"Hmm... You should."
Seraphina hugged him back, resting her arms around his waist.
Neither of them immediately let go. For a moment, they simply stood there, holding each other.
Amon's face remained buried in her golden-blonde locks while Seraphina quietly enjoyed his warmth.
"Take care, Amon."
"Yes, my dear."
Eventually, they separated.
After saying their final goodbyes, everyone began leaving through the academy gates.
Amon remained behind, watching his friends disappear one by one. The vacation had finally begun. But for Amon, there were still things he needed to take care of before he could truly relax.
After a while someone called him from behind.
"You done with farewells?"
He turned and saw a dark blue hair young man standing behind.
